Godmaker Reveals New Album Details
Brooklyn metal outfit Godmaker is two New Yorkers and two Kansans who have combined forces to crush your soul, break your heart, and rattle your innards.
The band's new album "Godmaker" is due out November 11th, 2014. Pre-orders are available through Aqualamb here and you can check out an advance track below. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"This is punishingly/defiantly heavy music that inhabits uncharted parts of the sonic spectrum. Atmospheric and thunderously loud riffs are combined with bursts of melodic virtuosity and sparse minimalism to create epic, violently technical structures. With track times ranging from six and a half to well over eleven minutes, Godmaker songs are as unrelenting as they are infectious. Listeners tend to be left hopelessly head- lobbing with a shit-eating grin.
"Forged in Brooklyn by Andrew Archey (bass) and Jon Lane (drums, ex Bröhammer) in the spring of 2013, the booming rhythm section quickly found its perfect compliment close to home. Pete Ross (Vox / Guitars), already playing with Cleanteeth, was exactly the riff-maker and the voice they needed. A chance encounter also brought Jon's former bandmate, Chris Strait (guitars), of Kansan hardcore outfit The Last Tyrant, into the fold.
"Godmaker's debut self-titled release is due November 11, 2014 on Aqualamb and will be available digitally, as well as part of a new 100-page book format, featuring the artwork of Joseph Silver and Stephen Wilson. A special, limited edition cassette tape will also be available through Dullest Records. The 4-song, 33-minute LP was produced and mixed by Justin Mantooth and recorded with the help of Phil Duke.
"Proving itself a force to be reckoned with, the band has already shared the stage with the likes of Floor, Weedeater, Black Cobra, Lo-Pan, Mutoid Man, and Howl. Touring in support of the release is expected this fall."
The track listing is as follows:
1. Megalith
2. Shallow Points
3. Desk Murder
4. Faded Glory More...

Lord Mantis Shoots New Video
The demoralizing Chicagoan collective Lord Mantis is currently immersed in the construction of a first official video, which is sure to be a disturbing and uncomforting visual experience.
Directed, shot, and currently being edited by Brooklyn-based Gretchen Heinel -- known for recent videos for industrialists Statiqbloom, Batillus and Theologian -- and produced by Profound Lore Records and New Density, the video is being created for the track "Possession Prayer" from the "Death Mask" LP.
According the band, "the video will likely not meet YouTube guidelines due to explicit content." Stand by for the video to be presented upon its completion this Fall, and check out a still photo below. You can also see the band live on these dates: More...
Neuronspoiler Parts With Drummer
Neuronspoiler today announces the departure of longstanding drummer Tim Barclay. The band had this to say:
"Having moved from London to Newcastle a while back, Tim suggested that leaving would be the best way to ensure the band’s survival. The rest of us refused to accept this and insisted that we carry on despite the 400 kilometre distance.
"Three years of one downright bitch of a commute took its toll on Tim and he finally decided this year to end his professional involvement with Neuronspoiler for good. We are still friends and throughout numerous ups and downs over the years we have never lost respect for each other.
"We wish him well and we urge everyone to see our former sticksman with his cover band Heaven or Hell? He would not approve of us delivering a Zoolander-esque ‘eugoogly’ so we will just say best of luck brother, you will be missed.
"Since this decision was taken earlier this year we have had some time to audition some very talented drummers. In the end we decided to offer the vacant drummer post to a long-time friend of the band.
"Please welcome Tom Ashcroft to Neuronspoiler! We have known Tom about as long as Neuronspoiler has been in existence since he studied at the same music school as David del Cid and former Spoiler guitarist Stanley Long. A music degree graduate, Tom brings a solid drum playing ability and a taste for electronic and experimental music as well as good old rock and roll flavour from his former band Salem’s Lot.
"We are excited to have the line-up of Neuronspoiler complete and will announce UK and overseas dates very soon. \m/" More...

Arcane Releasing 2CD Set
Hailing from the fertile metallic Texas landscape, Arcane began its quest for glory in 1986, but it wasn’t until 1988 that the group solidified a line-up and recorded the "Mirror of Deception" demo.
In 1989, the group recorded a second demo tape that eventually secured an album deal with the then upstart record label, Wild Rags. 1990 saw the release of debut album "Destination Unknown." Despite beginning to write new material for a follow-up release, the members of Arcane decided to go their separate ways. One final Arcane demo was released as the "Ambiguity" EP in 1994.
Now, 20 years since the band's last release, Divebomb Records presents "Worlds Colliding: The Anthology," a 2-CD set containing all of Arcane’s studio recordings. Pre-orders are available at this location.
All of the audio has been digitally remastered and both demos have been faithfully remixed by original drummer, Jim King. The 20-page CD booklet also contains lyrics and archival photos and flyers. The track listing is: More...

Interview
Black Anvil Discusses “Hail Death” And Tour
It’s hard to gain respect as a black metal band, with many purists in the scene believing in order to be considered a black metal band you must live up to a certain standard. You must dress a certain way, have certain beliefs, and sound a certain way. Odinists can’t sing odes to Satan. Bands definitely can’t use keyboards or instruments other than traditional heavy metal drums-guitar-bass.
In the case of New York’s Black Anvil, the members are guilty of being from a region, New York, considered to be “hipster.” Many journalists focus on Black Anvil’s members playing in hardcore bands, a fact that has no bearing on the group’s sound. The group's latest record (reviewed here) “Hail Death” features elements considered untrue such as clean vocals, melodies, and even some groove.
In the following interview conducted during a tour with Skeletonwitch and Ghoul, vocalist/bassist Paul Delaney expresses frustration in that so many do not get his band. He makes its very clear that Black Anvil, is indeed, a black metal band. Expressing dark emotions, “Hail Death” is a passionate album with plenty of black metal elements such as blast beats, tremolo-picked riffs, and goblin shrieks. A reading of his lyrics brings all this passion together and puts into perspective the band’s convictions. More...
Devilment Releases New Music Video
Devilment - which features Dani Filth from Cradle Of Filth - today premieres a music video for "Even Your Blood Group Rejects Me," which can be seen below thanks to Loudwire.com.
The song will be featured on the band's upcoming debut album, "The Great And Secret Show," scheduled to be released on Halloween 2014 (October 31st).
Commented director Sam Scott-Hunter: "With this video I really wanted to capture the intensity of the song, and then shove it in your face to get the heart pounding - the visual equivalent of listening to it loud on your headphones in a dark room. So to do that we locked ourselves in a studio in deepest, darkest Suffolk, turned most of the lights out and the volume up, and we didn't come out again until we had that intense groove etched indelibly into the back of the camera. It's a dark song, and I wanted that heaviness to come across visually, but there's also an air of mystery and mysticism in what the band are doing, and to capture that we enlisted an incredible dancer, NagaSita, who has a wonderfully different and exotic take on the track. I hope when people watch this, they can turn the lights off, turn it up loud, and enjoy a really intense experience."
Added Dani Filth: "When we approached undertaking a video for the track 'Even Your Blood Group Rejects Me', the intention was to create something very visually disturbing, yet stunning to look at, in a minimalistic monochrome context. The idea was to really bring out the performance of the track and marry it to phantasmagorical images, all cut to the massive pounding beat.
"Through the inclusion of smoke, strobe-lighting, fire, Theban masks, exotic dance and silhouette, we have endeavoured to create a mystic atmosphere in which we plunged the entire studio into complete and utter darkness, so that the viewer's full attention is focused on these aforementioned traits, set adrift against what appears to be the timeless whirls of space.
"Sam Scott-Hunter the director and his assistant for the day, band photographer Dex Jezierski, both pulled out all the stops to make this video come to horrid artistic fruition, and we even enlisted the help of my wife Toni and daughter Luna for hair, angle-grinding, make-up and costume, all for the benefit of keeping our cinematic occult activities a closed secret from the unsuspecting human world. As a band we are all extremely pleased with the outcome of our dalliance with the dark arts and hope that viewers to this visual feast will enjoy it just as much as we did weaning the video from it's deep Satanic birth." Podcast
Metalunderground.com Official Podcast, Episode 32
All right, let’s get the drill over with. We at the MetalUnderground.com Official Podcast are hosting two upcoming ticket giveaways through Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) has to compensate for his barren, metal-scarce South Florida existence somehow.
The Black Dahlia Murder (supported by Suicide Silence and Chelsea Grin) plays on Monday, October 13th, followed by Attila (supported by Crown The Empire and Like Moths To Flames) on Friday, November 14th. If interested, please submit your full name, matching your ID, to podcast@metalunderground.com with one of the headliners in the subject heading.
We properly kick off this week with another round of unsigned talent: Scranton, Pennsylvania’s Threatpoint, a straight-up, honest metal band that combines groove, thrash ’n’ roll, and the best of the American New Wave. Fans of Testament, DevilDriver, Sepultura, and Machine Head should pay close attention.
Opening anthem “Pave The Way” is taken from the band’s 2013 debut “Dead To Rise” (reviewed here), and stay tuned until the end, where we showcase the brand new song “Devil You Know,” taken from sophomore album “Careful What You Wish For.”
Speaking of Machine Head, the wily internet struck again this week, causing a leak that poured first single “Now We Die” (taken from upcoming eighth studio album “Bloodstone & Diamonds”) into the ears of thousands. Like real dudes - and unlike a certain unnamed band that rhymes with Metallica - the band have opted to roll with the punches and encourage you all to listen to, like, and share this song. We have, and you can hear our full thoughts presently.
Next, Kevin offers a review of “Language,” the recently released third studio album by Indianapolis, Indiana prog-heads The Contortionist. In his opinion, the band have gone “full-on Cynic” (or perhaps Opeth) and shed their deathcore outer-garments to the point where Kevin is unsure whether “Language” is even a proper metal record. However, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, as you will hear.
Finally, we conclude with a rather euphoric reaction to the recently released track “At War With Reality,” taken from the upcoming album of the same title by Gothenburg metal pioneers At The Gates - the reformed band’s first studio material since 1995. As with The Haunted’s “Exit Wounds” and Carcass’ “Surgical Steel,” we think it signals a tremendous return, and until In Flames decide to pull their heads from their nether regions and rediscover metal, the melodic death style should be in safe, capable hands.
Listen here, don’t forget to catch more Threatpoint at our sign-off, and subscribe via iTunes or RSS feed. Enjoy!
