The Rockstar Ramblings: Wet Dreams

This week we have videos that remind us of wet dreams, the hot desert and just how much fun dynamite and drinking and driving can be.

Bulletrain, soon releasing their new album, 'Start Talking', have launched a video for the single "Out Of Control.” The video begins with the drummer banging away with water splashing off his drums. This reminds me of Blue Man Group, except of course with clear water and not blue paint, a key component of the Blue Man Group. The band performs in a room that is every teen age boy’s wet dream, oh hell, every forty-year old boy’s wet dream as well. Other things I dig are the guitar player with the blonde ponytail (rockin!) and the ode to sleeveless tees. Only thing missing is blue paint…

Swedish rockers Dynamite are back with another video, this time for "Burn It Down.” We start in a rock quarry with a limo and lots of booze. (I once worked in a rock quarry, only lasted one day – true story.) The band exits the limo in a B-movie type introduction. There is a lot of underrated facial hair here, just saying. Then there is a pond explosion (guessing dynamite) and lots of AC/DC riffs. On break the band does lots of drinking, smoking and taking calls from someone named Dynamite. This doesn’t make sense; maybe it is all a dream. In that case, what a waste of good dynamite…

Canadian power metal band Shock recently released a video for the song "Full Speed Ahead", from their debut CD 'Once Denied.’ I’m reminded of Atari’s Pole Position, but with lyrics on display (so not as good as Pole Position). I like the song, but the video is too repetitive to me. Not quite as boring as NASCAR, but close…

Spanish rockers '77 have released a video for the song "Stay Away From Water", from their album 'Maximum Rock N' Roll.’ It’s hot in the desert man! Good thing there is homemade alcohol for sale. BTW, the guy selling homemade alcohol is exactly the guy you’d expect to find doing this. Also, he has a hot daughter. How did she not leave with the band? She could have been stripping in the car while they drive into the great wide open. Missed opportunities. Of course it’s not long before they realize the alcohol may be more homemade than initially expected. The scene turns more acid trip versus good ole fashioned drinking and driving (note: don’t drink and drive). The rest of the video is somewhat psychedelic and is best viewed after a bottle of homemade alcohol…
