Demoraliser Calls It Quits
U.K. metal / hardcore band Demoraliser has checked in with the following statement to fans about deciding to call it quits:
"Many of you may have noticed that Demoraliser has been inactive over the past few months. Unfortunately we have decided to call it a day. We cannot dedicate 100% of our time to the band anymore and feel it is best to wrap things up rather than let them linger any longer.
"We’d like to thank everybody who has given us their support over the years. Our biggest thinks go to Paul Towers, Kieran Murphy, Anthony Mortimer, Jamie Graham & Graham Clews. Shout outs to Malevolence, Martyr Defiled, Desolated, Heart In Hand, Napoleon, Lock & Key, Dead Hearts, Bury Tomorrow and Liferuiner.
"We have no plans for a last show at the moment. If this is something people would be interested in, we can discuss making this happen in the future. Seeing as we’re calling it quits, here’s a tune that was never going to see the light of day. Enjoy!" More...

Frozen Ocean Signs With Apocalyptic Witchcraft
Frozen Ocean just signed a three album worldwide deal with new label Apocalyptic Witchcraft. Vaarwel, the man behind the music of Frozen Ocean, had this to say about the deal:
“From the very beginning and through all its history, Frozen Ocean was bounced from label to label, never aware of every next release's fate. Therefore it's a real relief to know that at least part of its further heritage will be in the hands of conversant and enthusiastic people.
"Apocalyptic Witchcraft seems to be one of the most suitable places for the versatile music Frozen Ocean makes, so this collaboration will surely be for mutual benefit and pleasure. For sure, this wouldn't happen without the mediation of Imperative PR who literally made it possible and conducted Frozen Ocean through all this process, so it's an obligation to honour them for that. And of course, I look forward to seeing 'The Prowess Of Dormition' released - and hope you do too!"
The first results of the collaboration between Frozen Ocean and Apocalyptic Witchcraft will be the four track mini-album "The Prowess Of Dormition," which will be unveiled on January 11 - check out an album sampler below. More...

Atena Releasing New Album
Atena's "Shades of Black Won't Bring Her Back" is set for official release via Negative Vibe Records on October 23, with all the songs already availlable for streaming below. The record label also comments:
"Merging crushing downtempo beats with angular yet ferocious riffs and enigmatic, spacey ambiences, the young Norwegian group known as Atena started making a name for themselves right from the start in early 2010.
"Without the support of a record label and with a very strong DIY attitude, the five-piece toured Europe on three different occasions supporting acts like 1349 and released their first full-length album 'Of Giants' in 2013.
"Now two years later and backed up by fast-rising Norwegian label Negative Vibe Records, Atena are ready to unleash their second album 'Shades of Black Won't Bring Her Back' into the world. Featuring nine songs, this new effort sees Atena further exploring the stunning clash of crushing and angular riffs, pummelling and complex rhythms with spacey sonic ambiences. Silent Line Streams "Erosion"
Bonnyville, AB death-infused melodic metal band Silent Line is streaming new single "Erosion," taken off upcoming concept album "Shattered Shores." Vocalist / guitarist Michael Burton comments about the track:
"This is the second song on the album and it is more 'bouncy' and is a lot different from the opening track before it both lyrically and musically. The bounciness comes from locking the rhythm guitars to the kick drum in verses and blending lead guitar and synth runs together.
"In this song, the setting is one of the land free of snow, being burned away by an inferno; fear dominates. The past and how the land has come to be a ruined hellscape is the main subject matter." More...

Machine Head Announces Solo European Tour
Machine Head will headline an exclusive tour starting this February, billed as “An Evening With Machine Head” spanning across mainland Europe and the U.K.
No support bands, no locals, just 2 hours of bone-crunching metal anthems, deep album cuts, sing-a-longs, haunting atmospheric pieces, and pure fucking Machine Head!
"We’re doing an evening with Machine Head. Meaning: it’ll just be us, folks,” commented guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn. “We are really excited about playing longer sets, throwing in some deep cuts, and just having it be our own world. We did this in the U.S. and eastern Europe recently and it’s done amazingly well. Fans seem to really love the 'Evening With…' format for a band like us who has a long-standing and diverse catalog. While the sets vary from night to night, there were a couple nights on the last run where we reached the 2 hour and 40 minute mark. It was crazy! We could have played all night, the crowd was so insane!!”
Machine Head has been doing primarily solo shows since cancelling a tour with Epica and Children of Bodom to finish new album "Bloodstone and Diamonds." In regards to the band’s decision to not bring along support acts as well as no longer play festival slots, Flynn elaborates:
"We’re not trying to have a good time with a bunch of people who don’t know who we are. If Machine Head throws a party, big or small, we don’t want a bunch of ‘strangers’ there. This is about us and you guys, the die-hards, the Head Cases, The Fucking Undesirables! We don’t care about the others out there. We’re here and we’re not going anywhere. If those people want to be a part of this, they know where to find us. So for the time being, and maybe ‘forever’, we’re done reaching out for them." More...

Arceye Releases Video Featuring Xerath Member
Late 2013 saw U.K. death thrash band Arcye make waves with the release of second album "At First Light," but with things slowing down late last year the band has now struck yet again out of the blue with a premiere of a brand new music video.
Featuring guest vocals from Richard Thomson of UK's tech metal giants Xerath, "The Thirst" was directed by Tom Bohan and shot in a warehouse deep in Manchester by a group of his film students. The final edit is brought to you by Jo Brook.
Vocalist and bass player Al Llewellyn comments, “We previously worked with Tom on 'The Storm' (watch it here) and were really impressed with the results so he and his crew seemed the natural choice to work with on this new video!"
Al continues, "As the cycle of 'At First Light' wound down late last year, our plan was to release a video for every track on the album while we start focusing on ideas for album three! 'The Thirst' was the next natural choice to put into video form, it has more of our melodic side in it and Rich does a sterling job at making lots of noise over our riffs! It was great fun to film and to meet back up to riff it out since recording with him in the studio!" More...
