Nyx Streaming Full New Album

German duo Nyx is streaming entire debut album, "Home," prior to the October 30 release date. Listen in below. Nyx is made off two daughters of chaos: Blitz (drums/vocals) and Vinterbarn (guitars/vocals). The band was brought to life in 2011 to explore the endless metastases of the aspiring soul within a musical dimension.

"Home" was recorded and produced in Blackout Studio (Enthroned, Corpus Christii, Emptiness, Lvcifyre) with Enthroned's bassist Phorgath behind the console. The band commented:

"The album is all in all a conceptional work. The development of lyriclines, music and visual art was seen as a whole and could not have worked seperately. During the whole process from first note until the finishing touches, we kept our minds open for discovering new ways. Phorgat and his great, dedicated team was the best choice for bringing our ideas alive. (And as we don’t think about putting music in genres and we’re having an uncommon member structure, we accept polarization in order not to limit ourselves).

"At the studio, we chose a song by song-approach instead of the more often used instrument by instrument-way. This was a very good workway, as we could with Phorgat from Enthroned, have our full focus on only one song at a time, watch it grow and figure out what it needs to transport the lyrical meaning perfectly." Thor Is The "Metal Avenger!"

Is this horrendously awful or completely amazing? Thor's video for "Metal Avenger," taken off the album of the same name coming out this Friday via Cleopatra Records, can be seen below. Pre-orders are available at this location.

After a year that saw a deluxe reissue of his career-launching 1983 album "Unchained," as well as seeing his life’s story retold in the documentary film "I Am Thor" (which has been picking up awards at such prestigious film festivals as Slamdance and Fantasia Fest) Jon Mikl Thor is capping off one of the biggest years of his career with the release of Thor's new album "Metal Avenger."

Joining the metal savior on this epic recording is a slew of luminaries from both the rock and punk worlds including powerhouse vocalist Henry Rollins, Motörhead guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke, Dead Boy Cheetah Chrome, Twister Sister axeman Jay Jay French, Christian Death guitarist Rikk Agnew, D.O.A.’s own Joey Shithead plus Ritchy Stotts of Plasmatics, Betsy Bitch and many others.

The album will be available on both CD as well as a limited edition “blood red” vinyl pressing courtesy of Deadline Music.

“This is my most ambitious and best album in the history of my career,” Thor states boldly. Reteaming with producers Bruce Duff (Twisted Roots) and Frank Meyer (Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs), the group began writing new material and “came up with the concept of the 'Metal Avenger' whereby each song represents Thor’s quest to overcome the overlords of the planet Psykon and free the slaves on the master ship. There is adventure, intrigue and love in the lyrics and story. But most of all there is strength in the music. These songs are HEAVY yet melodic.” More...

Extreme Metal Tribute To The Cure Announced

On November 26, Curezum (yes, it's exactly the combination it sounds like) will release a two-track single.

Curezum is the world's first extreme metal tribute to The Cure, featuring members of Megaton Leviathan, Barrowlands and, well, Billy Anderson. This is far from a joke project, and there's more material where these two songs come from.

The Cure has long been a source of inspiration for the dark side of music, and the group's nihilistic, gloomy earlier works provided a template for musicians across a wide spectrum of genres, not least the extreme metal community.

Mort Subite and Martti Hill consider now the time for a fitting tribute to this influential band, taking the atmosphere of "Pornography," "Faith" and other classics, and reworking the music into harsher moods. The result: Curezum.

As a showcase of what’s to come, the band is unveiling a two-track single tackling the post-punk classic “One Hundred Years” and the psychedelic meandering of “The Top.” The single is set for digital release on 26th November, with a physical release planned later. More...

Doro Releases 3D Figurine Line

Doro Pesch has played more than 2,800 concerts in more than 60 countries across four continents in her thirty year plus career - and now the metal queen comes to your home, whenever you want, wherever you want, forever!

Staramba has made this feat possible: from now on, the Berlin-based startup company offers Doro and her entire band as D figures in different sizes. Doro and the band were made using a photogrammetry scanner 3D Instagraph, which scans a person within a few seconds. Afterwards, lifelike and full-coloured figures emerge shift by shift in a 3D printer.

"The figures became absolutely super," Doro states. "It's a really interesting experience to hold yourself in your hands suddenly. I'm sure that the fans will love these new figures and they will get them all for their homes."

Doro Pesch and her band mates Johnny Dee (drums), Nick Douglas (bass), Bas Maas (guitars), Luca Princiotta (guitars) as well as Harrison Young (keyboards) are available now as a full package in the scale of 1:20 and 1:15 from the Staramba online shop. Destiny Releases "Förväntan Stiger" Music Video

Swedish metal act Destiny - now featuring Dragonland frontman Jonas Heidgert - released a music video for the track "Förväntan Stiger," a track written for an album for football (soccer) team IFK Gothenburg.

Bassist Stefan Björnshög explains: "It was a quick process. Between last Christmas and New Year's Eve I began to write the music. I wanted it to be a song that would work well for the Destiny fans even if they were completely uninterested in football, but also easy enough to sing along with this the first time you hear it as supporter of the team. That is why Destiny for the first time released a song with Swedish lyrics.

"When the music felt ready the whole band met in the studio and within hours we both learned and recorded the song. Next Jonas Heidgert and our sound engineer and producer Henrik Pettersson wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals. Some additional vocals and guitars were recorded the following day, but basically everything was completed in one day. We have never worked this fast before. I am very satisfied and think we have succeeded with both goals.

"The video that was filmed on top of Ramberget with Gothenburg as background is the icing on the cake, and provides the perfect setting for the song, "Förväntan Stiger (Anticipation Rises)."
