Cure Tribute Curezum Announces New Single Release
On November 26, Curezum (yes, it's exactly the combination it sounds like) will release a two-track single.
Curezum is the world's first extreme metal tribute to The Cure, featuring members of Megaton Leviathan, Barrowlands and, well, Billy Anderson. This is far from a joke project, and there's more material where these two songs come from.
The Cure has long been a source of inspiration for the dark side of music, and the group's nihilistic, gloomy earlier works provided a template for musicians across a wide spectrum of genres, not least the extreme metal community.
Mort Subite and Martti Hill consider now the time for a fitting tribute to this influential band, taking the atmosphere of "Pornography," "Faith" and other classics, and reworking the music into harsher moods. The result: Curezum.
As a showcase of what’s to come, the band is unveiling a two-track single tackling the post-punk classic “One Hundred Years” and the psychedelic meandering of “The Top.” The single is set for digital release on 26th November, with a physical release planned later.
