Having Waldemar back with us in the studio to produce the new record is such a huge plus, since he did a fantastic job on the last production. Interview

Lee Dorrian Talks With The Dead Debut Album

With The Dead consists of ex-members from two of the most recognizable and respected doom acts in the UK—Cathedral and Electric Wizard. Fans of both bands will delight in the group’s self-titled debut, which comes out tomorrow via singer Lee Dorrian’s record label, Rise Above Records. The album thrives on hypnotic down-tempo rhythms, raw guitar tones, bombastic drums and bone-chilling atmosphere, the kind heard on Electric Wizard albums—which makes sense because this is the former rhythm section of Electric Wizard. It also contains the voice of Cathedral—Lee Dorrian, whose deliberate vocal rhythms, shrieks and desperate cries add another dimension of psychosis. Imagine six songs of slow churning terror!

With the dawning of their debut album, Dorrian talked to me on the phone about his entrance into the band, something he wasn’t on board with in the beginning. He also details recording the album and dives deep into his nihilistic lyrical themes. Read further for more details about one of the great super groups in the realm of doom metal. More...

Michael Dorrian Joins Mutilation Process

Mutilation Process has welcomed Michael Dorrian (Anatomy of I) to its ranks, who will be in charge of playing bass on the group's debut album. This is a gathering of people that want to play dirty rotten death metal to the bone, with the lineup now as follows:

Cris Pervertor (Satanika) - vocals
Markus Makkonen (Hooded Menace) - vocals and guitars
Michael Dorrian (Anatomy Of I) - bass
Aeternus (Satanika) - drums

Mutilation Process was born with the intent to pay homage to the early 90's death metal sound. From the sick minds of Markus Makkonen (Hooded Menace, Sadistik Forest) and Cris Pervertor (Satanika, Infektor), Mutilation Process creates something old but still very powerful, with a touch of doomy atmosphere, raw thrashing power and a dose of horror/exploitation from 70's and 80's. Lyrically inspired by Lucio Fulci, Umberto Lenzi, and John Carpenter, elements from films like Zombie and The Beyond compliment the music perfectly and set a dark tone. More...

Void Of Sleep Posts New Lyric Video

With the European release of "New World Order" - the imminent new full-length from Italian progressive occult metal alchemists Void Of Sleep - now just days away, today the band is pleased to unveil an official lyric video for third cut "Slaves Shall Serve."

The band comments: "This track is absolutely the most genuine and in-your-face song of the new record and it brings out our most valuable stoner rock spirit with bombastic riffs and wicked grooves. Lyrically, the song gets in the heart of the concept of the entire album with darkened and occult themes."

A seven-track concept offering thrusting forth a cosmic amalgam of stoned out, progressive sludge rock where epic rhythms melt into bottom heavy doom breakdowns, complex time signatures and psychedelia, "New World Order" was captured by bassist Riccardo Pasini (Ephel Duath, The Secret) at Studio73 in Ravenna, Italy and mastered by Collin Jordan (Eyehategod, Indian, Wovenhand, Voivod etc.) at The Boiler Room in Chicago, Illinois.

"New World Order" will be available via Aural Music on CD in Europe this Friday, October 16 and in North America on November 13. The record will be available digitally worldwide on October 18, with vinyl available next year. More...

Having just returned from some successful shows in Russia, Pain of Salvation now also announces a next string of shows in The Netherlands and Italy:

Oct. 29, 2015 NL - Enschede @ Atak
Oct. 30, 2015 NL - Apeldoorn @ Gigant
Oct. 31, 2015 NL - Amstelveen @ P60
Dec. 12, 2015 IT - Rome @ Crossroads Live Club
Dec. 13, 2015 IT - Milano @ Circolo Magnolia

Additionally, following up on the "Road Salt" releases, Pain of Salvation has now started to work on material for a next studio album effort, a concept album that goes back to the band's harder and heavier roots of the early 2000's. Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw has checked in with a brief status report:

"We have a few gigs on the horizon, but in all honesty, our true focus is on the next studio album right now. Ragnar and I truly enjoy writing music together, and have that sort of completing-each-other's-sentences dynamics to our writing that I have only found in very few people over the years. We have very creative writing sessions, and we can't wait for the fans to hear the new material! You'll see a hungry and strong Pain of Salvation, confidently returning to a harder and heavier form, musically. Still, as always, without losing the intimacy and originality that has been the trademark of the band ever since the first album. Anyone who has witnessed on stage what today's Pain of Salvation are capable of, will understand how much I am looking forward to show them what we can do in a studio." More...
