Attika 7 - led by vocalist/bassist Evan Seinfeld (founder of the legendary Biohazard/star of HBO’s Oz) and guitarist Rusty Coones (FX's Sons of Anarchy) - is wrapping up work on a new full-length album, which is set for a mid-2015 release.
Today a vicious new track titled "Darkest Day" can be heard with an accompanying lyric video below, courtesy of Revolvermag.com.
Evan Seinfeld states: “Attika 7 is proud to release 'Darkest Day’ to the masses. This is easily our heaviest track to date. We think a lot of people are going to be very surprised about the sound, the energy and the musicianship. We have been working harder than ever to take our music to the next level.
“This is the ultimate revenge song about the wheel of Karma coming full circle and the hand of fate, whether by our hands or yours delivering some real justice. Too many people think there are no consequences to their actions, and revenge, a dish best served cold, can taste so sweet. When someone has done you wrong, you don’t always get to pay them back and when someone takes something from you, something must be done! The weak will beg for mercy and receive NONE, if Attika 7 has anything to say about it."
Coones further comments: “Attika 7 is an alumni of Rockstar Mayhem and Uproar festivals in recent years. After touring season ended in 2013 we took a hiatus. We wanted something new, something different. We didn't know what it was gonna be, but we weren't gonna stop till we found it. We decided to experiment with new sounds and influences. No rules, just strive to develop something epic. These new songs are the beginning of this journey, not the end." More...

"With 'Petit traité de futurologie sur l'Homo cretinus trampolinis (et son annexe sur les nageoires caudales),' the complete name of the track, Pryapisme have achieved a grandiose mix of electronic, metal and classical music, divided in eleven sections in purpose of clarity.

San Francisco's progressive doom-rock scientists from Giant Squid will release their fifth LP, "Minoans," on October 28th via Translation Loss Records.
In celebration of the impending release, Stereogum is hosting the premiere of new song "Mycenaeans." Listen in below. Guitarist / vocalist Aaron John Gregory comments on the album:
"'Minoans' is the record I've always known Giant Squid could make; ancient, exotic and other-worldly, while showing a new level of refined focus. Lyrically, the album is a giant love letter to the Mediterranean and specifically Bronze-age Greece - a region, people, and time period that deeply fascinates me - and which I feel mirrors these heartbreakingly brutal, turbulent times we live in today." Enslaved is currently in the studio recording a thirteenth full-length album and today offers fans this latest update:
“As always, it is hard to formulate an exact direction Enslaved is or is not heading in with the new album. This duality is part of the essence of the band: The ability to maintain consistency and a strong identity and, at the same time, surprise both the oldest fans and even ourselves with new musical directions.
"The new material is darker and rawer, more aggressive and direct, yet continues the exploration deeper into progressive, softer, and more melodic territories with at times complex song structures, combined with unusually immediate (for Enslaved, at least) elements. The high level of energy in the songs reflects both an inspired and an ever-harder working band that keeps pushing their own and their associated genres’ limits."
Main recordings for the as-yet-untitled new album are taking place at Duper and Solslottet Studios in Bergen, Norway with additional recordings done at Conclave & Earshot Studios (presided over by EnslavedD members Larsen and Ice Dale), and Ivar Bjørnson’s Peersonal Sound Studios.
Additional experimentation and sonic exploration will be conducted deep in the woods of Valevåg south of Bergen where the band took a mobile studio to record the infamous “Thorn” 7” single in 2012.
The new album is being produced by band members Ivar Bjørnson, Grutle Kjellson & Herbrand Larsen together with Iver Sandøy. Mixing will be done by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden.
Artwork will be illustrated by long-time collaborating artist and “sixth Enslaved member” Truls Espedal, who has painted all seven album covers since 2001’s "Monumension."
This new album follows the 2012 release "RIITIIR" (reviewed here), which garnered the band a seventh nomination for a Spellemann Award (the Norwegian equivalent of the American Grammy) in the category of “Best Metal Album.” More...
After the band revealed two new members, GWAR's manager has now checked in with the following statement about upcoming live shows:
"Toodles, ya parasitic bohabs. It's me, Sleazy P Martini. As you may already know, GWAR will be out on the GWAR Eternal Tour starting tonight because Thai ladyboys don't pay for themselves. You smarter Bohabs have probably even noticed that GWAR has undergone a lineup change.
"The reason for this is the absence of Oderus Urungus due to his return to space. First of all, let's clear something up: Oderus is not dead! Nor is GWAR. Now, admittedly things will be different. For instance, with Oderus's absence, touring expenses will be scaled back considerably as crack usage by the band will drop by over nine tons a day. To which I, the CIA and the Medellin Cartel respond with a collective: 'Phew!' Now all those drug mules crossing the border can use the extra butt space for more important things such as food, water and more relatives.
"Of course, there are many in the scene (code for no-talents) who say that with Oderus out of the band, GWAR should hang it up. To which I must respond: If I wanted your opinion, I would just knock you unconscious and urinate on your face. Which wouldn't elicit much of an opinion at all - just the way I like it.
"You see, GWAR is a perpetual and unstoppable force. If I tried to retire them, I most certainly would end up flayed, shredded, pulled and served with coleslaw and fries to Gor-Gor. One who is a lion tamer cannot suddenly decide to stop and ask his lions to become house cats. And GWAR's lust for human carnage cannot properly be met in semi-retirement on the talk-show circuit. So the shows must go on. And they have, starting with Riot Fest in Chicago. The GWAR Eternal Tour starts tonight in Norfolk, VA and goes through December 13th in Baltimore, MD.
"Now, there are some who would say, 'How can you find a lead singer as talented as Oderus Urungus?' To which I have responded by having famed archeologist Dr. Richard Leaky travel to Antarctica to dig up another immortal Scumdog. According to Dr. Dick, these furballs are stacked up in GWAR's fortress basement like chicken pot pies four for a buck. In fact, I have already thawed out one promising prospect named Blóthar. While not as talented a singer as most primates, he's definitely better than Justin Bieber or the entire One Direction line up. More...
Progressive dark metal band Dreamgrave just released new LP "Presentiment," which can be picked up at Bandcamp or streamed below.
After the unexpected success of the "Deadborn Dreams" demo, the band had troubles finding stable, lasting members. While the search has taken up several years, founder and band leader Dömötör Gyimesi continued working on new ideas, which eventually became the foundation for the "Presentiment" LP.
In September 2012 he met János Mayer, which resulted in a shifting of the songs towards a more progressive approach. In September 2013 the band started recording the demos with the beautiful soprano of Mária Molnár. After a lot of hard work and with the help of Gergo Drahota (VolumeFeeder) and Jeno Godó, the band finally went into the studio to record the "Presentiment" LP, a concept album consisting of eight dark metal movements.
The band issued the following breakdown of the track listing and each song's place within the album:
1. Ethereal Eternity: the realm of true emptiness, a world absent of life, dreams, fear and pain.
2. Black Spiral: stranded between two worlds trying to escape from the Spiral that hauls your soul into total annihilation.
3. Memento Mori: a metaphor for the recurring things in life you always think you can withstand - but in the end it breaks you every time.
4. The Last Drop Falls: the last attempt to emerge from the inevitable, ending in complete surrender.
5. Presentiment: images reminiscent of the future overrun your consciousness. Only a fracture of reality echoes in you leaving you paralyzed by fear - all you can do is breath in and out.
6. Presentiment (Part II): even with all the beauty and innocence of the unknown the uncertainty of it makes you tremble with fear.
7. False Sense of Confidence: the realization that the ignorance-based extreme self-confidence will eventually devour your whole existence.
8. It's Ubiquitous: the dissolution of this encompassing premonition, that states that there is still some hope left for us. The darkness surrounding us all dissolves into the light - since darkness is just the lack of light. More...
The new Cavalera Conspiracy studio album "Pandemonium" will be released on November 3rd in the U.K. & November 4th in North America via Napalm Records.

Pomona, California's unstoppable Xibalba has completed tracking a third LP, and is wrapping up the final elements in order to unleash these monstrous recordings in early 2015, once again through Southern Lord. The label comments:
"The unforgiving rage of Xibalbo's death-metal influenced hardcore has never been more apparent, with the new album showcasing nearly forty-five minutes of their most extreme material yet, as they continue to explore more ominous and foreboding tones.
"Now confirmed to bear the title 'Tierra Y Libertad,' the eight-song call to arms was recorded at The Pit in Van Nuys by Taylor Young (Nails, Twitching Tongues, Disgrace) as was the 2012 sophomore LP, 'Hasta La Muerte.' Similarly, Xibalba returned to Dan Seagrave (Dismember, Entombed, Suffocation) to create Tierra Y Libertad's cover artwork."
Southern Lord will unleash the remorseless "Tierra Y Libertad" in January 2015, with a final street date, the album art and more information to be leaked in the coming weeks. In conjunction with the release of the new LP, Xibalba will hit the road hard again in 2015. Stay tuned for dates.

Today, Nuclear Perversion streams the entirety of debut demo, "Desolation Rituals," which is out now on Iron Bonehead Productions.
Listen in below, thanks to CVLT Nation. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"A duo of Nocturnal Werewolf of Blasphemous Devastation and Nuclear Goatvomits (vocals, bass) and Malignant Invoker of Kosmik Apocalypse (guitar, drums), Nuclear Perversion is aptly named: their gnarly, gnawing brand of blackened death metal is riddled with radiation and exists to defile, desecrate, and detonate.
"Desolation Rituals, their debut demo tape, is likewise aptly titled: it resides within its own vacuum of solitude and sin, and serves the purpose of driving both ever inward and, at least, outward with unrepentant wrath. Bestial savagery, downtempo dirges, scurrying anxiety, garish grind, insane hideousness - all things unclean and unwell get stirred into Nuclear Perversion's acrid cauldron. Even the song titles - 'Weapons of Mass Perversion,' 'Fistfuckchrist,' and 'Sodomic Nuclear Sunrise' among them - spell in no uncertain terms this band's raison d'etre."

"As you all are certainly aware by now, our concerts in Ufa, Moscow, and St. Petersburg were cancelled. We were present in these cities and ready to perform each of these shows but were not permitted to.
"In Ufa the power was turned off shortly before the show (we were told because the venue was late on rent), and in Moscow and St. Petersburg we were told that we did not have the correct visas and that if we attempted to perform the concert would be stopped by police and we would be detained and deported (prior to the tour we had been told that we did have the correct visas and that all of our paperwork was in order). Malevolent Creation just signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. Currently working on an upcoming 12th full-length, the band will unleash this new album in 2015 and tour the world in support of it. Vocalist/founding member Bret Hoffmann comments:
"I am very excited and extremely pumped to be signing and working with Century Media! I believe we will finally get that push we need to really get our music out there!! It feels great to have the guys at Century Media believe in us and our new songs, and really want to stand behind them and the band, and push us forward to bigger things! I mean I think we have always been a bit under rated (I hear that from a lot of fans too) and I really think with this signing we have a great chance to boost this band up!!! It's also a pleasure to have drummer Justin DiPinto back in the fold! He brings the hungry aggressive quality this band has always had back to the forefront!
"When we played 3 weeks of festivals and shows in Europe in August it felt great!! That aggression was feeling strong!! Looking so forward to playing MANY shows after this album hits the street!! Speaking of which. We are currently working on the new slab! It is coming out intense and heavy as HELL!! Everyone is killing it! I think everyone is just so determined and hungry to bust out the heaviest music and ideas we can with this one!! Great heavy grooves will not be missing, I promise!!
"With this signing to Century Media and the new ripping album being done, I see great thing happening!! So with that being said, we will soon be unleashing the Malevolence all over the world!!! We will be pounding stages and eardrums into oblivion and hope to see you all out there!!! Let the slaughter commence!!!!"
Guitarist/founding member Phil Fasciana adds: "I couldn't agree more with Bret's comments concerning signing with such an established record label (Century Media) and having the confidence of knowing we are working with a company that believes in our band's music and will get it distributed worldwide properly. Along with guitarist Gio Geraca, bassist/founding member Jason Blachowicz and returning drummer Justin DiPinto, we no longer have the word 'compromise' associated with band and its music. More...

In the fine tradition of Death Metal Christmas, August Burns Red, and a handful of other metal bands that get in the holiday spirit, Finland's all-star symphonic Christmas project Raskasta Joulua ("Heavy Christmas") is back for its 10th year running.
The project, which tours every holiday season, will release a new studio album this year. The album, titled "Ragnarok Juletide," releases on November 11th via Spinefarm Records. Get a taste below.
But this is not just another set of ho-ho-ho-hum takes on holiday songs nor is it a collection of predictable, safe versions of seasonal jams! For the first time ever, these versions of Finnish and international Christmas classics will also be recorded in the English language.
Raskasta Joulua is inspired by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and the participants view the project in serious fashion, which is not always true of Christmas-themed collections. There is nothing novelty or jokey about this project or this release. Don't expect familiar holiday favorites to be given a weak makeover or merely amplified by distorted guitars that have been added to give the Christmas jams a "rock" feel. That would be a Christmas cop out.
Ragnarok Juletide will put headbangers in the most festive of moods, regardless of which metal subgenre he or she prefers, from speedy power metal to symphonic epics to dirgey doom. It's all here on this year's "Ragnarok Juletide." More...
Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of legendary death metal band Hate Eternal. The label comments:
"Helmed by founder, guitarist/vocalist, primary songwriter, and producer Erik Rutan, Hate Eternal has been one of the leading bands in the worldwide death metal scene for over eighteen years. The band's five full-length albums are considered crucial genre touchstones, and the band is a proven headliner across five continents.
"Hate Eternal (Rutan [guitar, vocals] and J.J. Hrubovcak [bass/vocals]) are currently holed up in Rutan's Mana Recording studio recording a new album that will be released in early 2015."
Regarding the recording, Rutan comments, "We are ecstatic about how the recording for our new album has been coming out so far, and our new label and home Season Of Mist. We've worked very hard on crafting these songs to reflect our path, from our past to the present, and the journey of Hate Eternal and its members. Writing this album was a long and arduous process. It took a tremendous amount of determination, blood, and sweat to bring this all to fruition. We're super proud of what we've accomplished creatively, and excited at the prospect of releasing what we feel is our most powerful Hate Eternal material to date."
Rutan continues, "Now it is time to bring this all to life! The recording process so far has been fantastic. I've never felt so focused and determined on a Hate Eternal record, and I know that this will be an album our listeners and supporters will truly appreciate. It represents an important milestone for me personally since 15 years ago both Hate Eternal began recording it's first album and Mana Recording Studios was born. We have so much more news to share with you over the coming months. We cannot wait for you to hear this album!"
