Fight Like Hell To Regroup For Shows and EP

Less than a year after breaking up, Colorado hardcore band Fight Like Hell has announced plans to reform, albeit in a limited fashion. Here's a statement from the group:

"First off I want to say thanks to everybody who has been hitting us up about playing again. I just wanted to fill in everybody on what's going on. As all of you know, FLH broke up in March so everybody could pursue other interests. I, myself have been playing in Death Before Dishonor since January. Jake moved to Florida and went on to play in Know The Score and Matt is playing in Folsom currently. Also Joey has been diving deeper in to competitive Juijitsu. This band did not break up on bad terms at all but we all felt we had to make steps forward in our lives and we took that opportunity. We discussed the possibility of us playing again when we had the time.

"Fortunately, that time came sooner than expected. Jake has moved back in to my house in Denver with my brother (FLH current bassist) and DBD is on a break. October 11th Folsom is playing at Rock and Roll Grille and we felt that it was a perfect time and venue to start playing again. Just so everybody knows we WILL NOT be touring. I know that sucks for a lot of you but it's just not possible for us. Joey and Joel have obligations at home that make it hard for them to get on the road and Matt and myself are both touring full time with our respective bands.

"With that being said, we WILL be writing and recording 5 new songs in December to be released on Double or Nothing Records and we will have new merch up @ www.doubleornothingrecords.com. FLH will continue to play shows regionally when friends come through town whenever we can including a show in late December that is TBD. So everybody come out to the show on the 11th and have a good time. This is for you Denver."

RATM To Record New Album?

According to a Twistedear.com, Rage Against The Machine is apparently readying to record their first album of new material in nearly ten years. The report says that the band is in talks of recording their new album for their longtime label Sony and expect to release it in 2009, a source explained: "We're hopeful, but a new album is far from definite."

Frontman Zack de la Rocha, who just recently started a new band One Day As A Lion, also spoke to Los Angeles Times last month about the possibility of new material, saying:

"We’re going to keep playing shows - we have a couple of big ones happening in front of both conventions. As far as us recording music in the future, I don’t know where we all fit with that. We’ve all embraced each other’s projects and support them, and that’s great."

Treponem Pal To Release Remastered "Aggravation"

Metal Mind Productions present re-release of the second full-length album by the most respected industrial band from France - Treponem Pal. "Aggravation" (1991) was a record that revealed Treponem Pal's powerful, sensitive and tribal elements. The band focused on the vision of enlarging industrial's scope rather than narrowing it to one style that could be easily described ... or dismissed. This time the mixing was made by Roli Mosiman from Swans. The industrial scene was at that time fully in bloom – the genre gained the proper respect not only in Europe, but also across the Atlantic, where bands from Chicago's Wax Trax label – Front Line Assembly and KMFDM – got extremely popular. The international media also begun noticing Treponem Pal – a band previously associated only with the underground scene. The attention was caused mainly by the excellent remix of Kraftwerk's "Radioactivity". Asked back then about choosing this track, which is totally different from the rest of the compositions on "Aggravation", Marco Neves commented: "I like the contrast. That's why we've done this song. It's a real contrast to Treponem Pal. Maybe in the future we will try to make some songs with more contrast… but in fact what we are doing is to make a contrast inside the songs."

New digipack edition is digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on golden disc and limited to 2000 copies. The release date is scheduled for 27th October 2008 in Europe and 25th November 2008 in USA (via MVD). More...

Koch Signs Distro Deal with Rising Force Records

KOCH Entertainment Distribution announced today that it has signed an exclusive physical and digital distribution deal with Rising Force Records and its flagship artist neo-classical metal guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen.

Rising Force Records was launched in 2008 with the primary function to release and market new and back catalogue material from the world renowned guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen as well as signing new talent. The first title slated for release is "Perpetual Flame," a brand new recording from Malmsteen featuring ex-Judas Priest/Iced Earth singer Tim 'Ripper' Owens to be released via KOCH on October 14th. Additional titles and release dates will be announced by the label at a later date.

"I am truly excited that Rising Force records will be distributed via KOCH, and with our brand new release "Perpetual Flame" as well as future releases of back catalogue materials, this is a very important and exciting relationship," comments Yngwie Malmsteen.

"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to shred with Yngwie on the launch of Rising Force Records," added Michael Rosenberg, President of KOCH Entertainment Distribution.

2008 is turning out to be one of the busiest years of Yngwie's career. In addition to the release of his forthcoming new album, he will be inducted into Hollywood's Rock Walk on October 13th, a new Fender/Yngwie Malmsteen custom shop guitar will be unveiled later in the year (with a limited run of 100 instruments) and there will be a slew of CD reissues of Yngwie classics. All the while, the accolades continue to pour in: 'Roadie Crew Magazine' organized a poll in which 330 respected rock guitarists were asked to vote for their favorite guitarist of all-time. Yngwie checked in at a lofty number 3 – behind fellow legends Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen.

Slash Reveals Solo Album Details

Velvet Revolver and former Guns N Roses guitarist Slash has revealed that he has demoed 14 songs for his forthcoming solo album.

He told NME Radio that he has recruited a slew of singers to appear on the album, but would not reveal who he has enlisted yet.

He added that he wasn't sure whether the album would be released before the next Velvet Revolver album. The band are currently in the process of recruiting a new singer, following the departure of Scott Weiland earlier this year.

"I've been carrying a tape recorder with me on the Velvet Revolver tour and putting down ideas," Slash explained. "When I got back from the UK at the beginning of the summer listened to what was cool on them, then elaborated and came up with new stuff."

The guitarist is set to release a series of new guitars, the Gibson and Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop range, on October 7.
