Oceano To Release New Album

Chicago's own Oceano have tapped Colin Marks to create the artwork for the band's upcoming debut album, Depths. Colin Marks is a London-based artist who's dark and gritty art style has made him the right man to provide the visuals for bands like Strapping Young Lad, Aborted and Whitechapel. His proficiency for creating striking works of symbolic art with a heavy twist made him the perfect choice to collaborate with the heaviest, most pissed off band on the planet. "We felt he was the
right guy," says Oceano guitarist, Andrew Mikhail. "Based on his work with Whitechapel and Aborted, we felt that he could represent' Depths' the way we envisioned it - dark and abstract. On top of everything, he's simply a great guy to work with."

Oceano's debut album, "Depths" will contain 13 tracks (15 in Japan) of the angriest deathcore cuts ever committed on record alongside a limited edition bonus DVD. "Depths" is due for release in 2009.

Oceano will be heading into the studio this October to record "Depths" with producer Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada, My Children My Bride) at The Foundation Studios in Connersville, IN. More...

Quo Vadis Guitarist Addresses Rumors

Canada's Quo Vadis has been surrounded by an aura of uncertainty as of late. The band's Montreal concert on September 6th, although a resounding success along the lines of the band's past hometown shows, went down in the wake of several anonymous messages released directly to the press. The band's guitarist and composer Bart Frydrychowicz had been faced with news about band members, while recovering from injuries sustained in both his knees and being unable to walk since the September 6th show. Now that the dust has settled, Bart is determined to clear the air, salute the fans and put the rumour mills to rest with a videoblog statement.

In the video, the artist and producer speaks out on the truth about Quo Vadis, scheduled shows to be announced soon, line-up changes, and the approaching release of new material.

The fans are assured that Quo Vadis is alive and well and that great things are to come in the near future. "This is to dispel the rumours circulated on the Internet. First of all Quo Vadis is not finished,[…]there will be line up changes and most importantly new material," says Bart Frydrychowicz.

The departure of Yanic Bercier, the band's original drummer, is also addressed. "Yanic has been an integral part of Quo Vadis since the band's inception. His skill on the kit, his energy on stage will be very difficult to match[...]I wish him great success in all his endeavours."

Bart also extended his gratitude to the staff and crew of BCI and credited Stephan Mellul for his role in making the September 6th show an event to remember. The show also featured Despised Icon, Neuraxis, Blinded by Faith and Plasmarifle and enjoyed a total attendance of over 1400 metalheads.

Dir En Grey Signs with The End Records

Japanese heavy metal outfit DIR EN GREY announced that they have signed with THE END RECORDS for the release of their seventh studio album. The album will be called "Uroboros," an ancient symbol of 'eternity,' and will be released on November 11th (11/12 in Japan through Firewall; 11/14 in Europe through Gan-Shin).

An excerpt from Headbangers Blog's interview with DIR EN GREY follows:

Headbangers Blog: A lot of metal bands do really cheap videos and don’t put much thought into them. However, you always put a lot of time and effort into your videos. Do you think the music videos are as artistically important as the album?

DIR EN GREY: Very important! It doesn’t make any sense for the band unless our will is reflected to everything that we can express ourselves. Basically, we like creating things and essentially have to spend time for it.

Headbangers Blog: Tell us about the video for “Dozing Green.” Who shot it, what is it about?

DIR EN GREY: Mr. Hiroyuki Kondo, who has been working on our video works more than 10 years, has directed this music video. We thought it would be boring to simply edit footage expressing destruction and pain and our performing scene, so we decided to set video screens behind us so as to show both images at the same time.

You can Listen to "Dozing Green," the album's twelfth cut, on DIR EN GREY's MySpace page.

In an effort to satiate fans' unique preferences and desires, "Uroboros" will be available in the US in four formats: digital album; CD jewel case; deluxe limited-edition CD digipak with bonus track and DVD; and double vinyl LP with a digital download card included.

The tracklistings for these formats are as follows: More...
