The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower Bassist Dies

Former The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower bassist Willy Graves passed away on Sunday. The remaining members of the now-defunct group have issued the following:

"As I'm sure many of you have already heard, our dear friend Willy Graves passed away Sunday, September 14th. During our years together, we felt more like a family or a gang than we did a band. Every high and every low we experienced together. Willy brought so much to our band artistically, aesthetically, and in terms of general morale.

"When the going got tough (and believe me, things would get fucking rough), we could always count on Willy to be the eternal optimist. Whether we were getting beat up in Salt Lake City, having our tires slashed in Baltimore, or getting pint glasses heaved at us in Wellington, NZ, we could always count on Willy to crack a joke or act silly to distract us from the lows. Same goes for all the highs we experienced together. All the amazing shows we got to play, amazing places we got to see, and amazing friends we got to meet; Willy lived all these things 100%. I've never seen him happier than when we raising hell in some foreign country.

"We discovered so many things together, went through so many things together - it's unbelievable that he is gone so young. He had a lot more love, humor and art to give the world. This is everybody's loss. Please keep him in your hearts and remember him for the son, brother, musician and friend that he was."

She is not only my teenage idol ('All We Are' from Warlock was about the only song I liked at school disco!) and basically my neighbour (Cologne – Duesseldorf is right next to each other) – But she is hands down one of the nicest, down-to-earth and most beautiful musicians I have met so far. I can hardly believe its her '25 Years In Rock' anniversary – She is still as youthful as ever! She's got the power for sure! You don't want to miss out on this extraordinary event and maybe seing me and Doro on a stage together! Make sure you get your tickets early!"

Darkside Parts Ways With Drummer Lukas Siska

Austrian metallers, Darkside, have parted ways with drummer Lukas Siska. They have released the following statements regarding the situation:

"Lukas has decided that other things are more important to him than being a member of Darkside, so unfortunately this leads to the situation of Darkside being without a drummer at this moment. The band has to cancel all upcoming shows for the next time until a replacement will be found. We will keep you updated. Sadly enough this also means that the band cannot take part in the prestigious STP Metalweekend in St. P'lten, on Saturday September 20, 2008. We are very sorry, but this is beyond our control." Ex-Century Media President Launches New Label

Former Century Media Records President, Marco Barbieri, has officially launched a new label called M-Theory Audio. Barbieri, who left Century Media in 2007, has released the following:

"While having stepped down from my Presidential position at Century Media last year I opted for a change in priorities and a different kind of work. While those two things still hold true it's difficult to give up what you know and love and I've been slowly creeping back into the industry via different areas, such as artist management, publishing, consulting, production and promotion. Now I'm going to add record label to that list. Note, all this is still done on a part-time/hobby level and aside from managing WARBRINGER, I'm not trying to compete with any of the big, established companies. Instead, I'm focusing on small, developing acts which won't take too much time but still gives me a creative outlet. The label is no different. While I've had the pleasure and experience of Century Media=2 0and Metal Blade and through them other iconic imprints such as Noise, Nuclear Blast and others I've always held a fascination with small, underground, DIY labels and now I've started my own.

"Upon my return to Las Vegas last year I began running into old friends, amongst them old band members. When I was a teenager Papsmear was the closest thing we had to Slayer, Exodus or Kreator and many here were enamored with them. Despite some compilation appearances the group never broke out of the Vegas scene and eventually broke up. I always cherished their first two ‘80s demos and through conversations with the band I've agreed to release a CD, limited to a 1000 copies, collecting these demos, with a bunch of extra live tracks and a bonus DVD featuring 3 live shows. This release will be done jointly with Metal War Productions, out of Philadelphia, whose co-owner Spencer is also a big supporter of the band and shared the same vision of making the music available again and to a wider audience. So, on October 28th prepare for "Music To Kill By" from Papsmear as the first release from my new label, M-Theory Audio. This CD can be already pre-ordered at here for the special price of $10 and should soon be available through metal specialty vendors, online download spots and through either me or Metal War Prod. I'm already speaking to some other old-school bands about reissuing material and while I'm not currently signing any new acts I won't rule it out if I've got the time and am having fun. Distributors and stores please get in touch: m-theoryaudio@hotmail.com"

"Scales" is the label debut of Kansas City based trio Mythical Beast on Greg and Jessica Weeks' Language of Stone imprint. The album was recorded and mixed in May of 2008 in 10 days at Greg Weeks' Hexham Head studio located in Philadelphia. It was an entirely analog recording process. In Spring 2007, the band flew to New York to play the first annual Diamond Days Fest with Sunburned Hand of the Man, These Are Powers Marissa Nadler, etc. where Greg Weeks saw their set and invited the band to join his label. Interview

Interview With Mongrel Guitarist Adam Savage

If punk, metal, and rock had an orgy, Mongrel would be the bastard love child. A fusion of edgy and raging guitar, anthem-like vocals with heavy drums, Mongrel is an example of cross-genre at its best. Based out of New Hampshire, high-energy Mongrel has gained quite a reputation, building a fan base from the US to Australia, gaining radio play, touring non-stop and opening for acts like The Misfits, Otep, The Exploited, and All That Remains. Their album, “Fear, Lies, and Propaganda” was picked up earlier this year by Screaming Ferret Wreckords for re-release. I caught up with Adam Savage, guitar, and talked about Mongrel’s beginnings, playing cross-genre music, and playing live. Be on the look out for these guys, they are onto something. More...
