Keel Signs To Frontiers Records

Frontiers Records has announced the signing of KEEL for the release of a brand new studio album in early 2010.

In 1985 KEEL exploded onto the hard rock scene with “The Right To Rock,” the fastest-selling debut album in A&M Records’ history. That disc and its successor “The Final Frontier” were both produced by Gene Simmons of KISS. KEEL sold over two million albums and toured with/opened for icons such as Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Van Halen, and Aerosmith, winning Best New Band honors in publications such as Circus, Metal Edge and Hit Parader. Radio and MTV hits include “The Right To Rock,” “Tears Of Fire,” “Because The Night,” “Somebody’s Waiting,” and “Rock N Roll Outlaw.”

The band announced their reunion last November, and enjoyed appearances at major summer festivals such as Rocklahoma, South Texas Rock Festival, the Mid West Rock Fest, and the M3 Rock Festival in Maryland, in addition to sold-out headline shows in Hollywood and Phoenix. The energy and excitement of these tour dates spawned a surge of creative activity, resulting in an album's worth of new material. This album, entitled "Streets Of Rock & Roll," will be the first new KEEL recording in twenty years.

The project is being produced by Pat Regan (Deep Purple, KISS, Warrant etc.) and will feature guest appearances by Jaime St. James (Black N Blue) and Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot) who is also producing and recording Ron's lead vocal sessions.

Frontiers Records will also release "The Right To Rock: 25th Anniversary Edition," exactly 25 years after this classic album first hit the streets. This official reissue will be digitally remastered and will feature a brand new recorded version of the title track, which is even louder and heavier than the original. "The Right To Rock (Reunion Version)" features an all-star vocal chorus, and the band is also inviting fans everywhere to sing on the track: you can download a sample chorus on KEEL's MySpace, add your voice to the mix, send the band an MP3, and these will be mixed in to the actual recording of this timeless classic. For details, visit the KEEL web site and the KEEL MySpace.

Song titles that will be included on the forthcoming new studio release are (in no particular order) include: "Hit The Ground Running," "Come Hell Or High Water," "Streets Of Rock & Roll," "Push & Pull," "Live," "Brothers In Blood," "The Devil May Care," "Looking For A Good Time," "No More Lonely Nights," "Hold Steady," "Does Anybody Believe," "Gimme That," "Reason To Rock (Reunion Version)."

KEEL 2009 lineup includes Ron Keel on vocals, guitarists Marc Ferrari and Bryan Jay, drummer Dwain Miller along with long time Ron Keel collaborator Geno Arce on bass.

RunsFasterScared Calls It Quits

Experimental screamo band RunsFasterScared has decided to call it quits. Here's the official statement from the band:

"I hate these things because they are always overly dramatic and sad to write. It seems to be the standard to be upset, or to write these with regret. In typical rfs fashion, we will be a little less conventional about this;

"I suppose the well of passion to want to push rfs along has run dry. Since returning home from tour, we have not even been in touch with eachother much, which speaks volumes as to the commitment levels of all parties involved, myself included. Until further notice, runsfasterscared will not be playing anymore shows, or recording any new music, which is especially disappointing considering the fact that we have an albums worth of new music which was undoubtedly the most creative, and progressive music we've ever written. In saying this, there are no regrets, or hard feelings from any one person to the next. These were the best years of our lives, and taught us tons about ourselves, and the music industry. We have made lifelong friends, and fans, and could not be happier with how runsfasterscared matured over the years we were together. Thank you very much to everybody who has ever came to a show and shown support, and everybody who gave us floors to sleep on, beer to drink, weed to smoke, or said "great job" after a show. Future projects are already in the works. Stay tuned, and thanks again!"

Nominon Issues Recording Update

Swedish death metal band Nominon has issued the following studio recording update:

"Friday september 18'th: Greetings people, fans and fiends of the Grotesque. We're now almost done with the drum tracks at the renowned Necromorbus Studios. It all sounds massive and rotten, there's just no other way! The drum room starts to reek of Perras creativity and I guess he soon for sure are worthy of his price, it comes bottled from Scotland! Mixed with Atlanta/Georgias pride: Coca Cola, he'll enjoy the rest of his time in the studio!

"Sunday september 20'th: We have some news from the tomb for you all! The drums are now done and put on tape, I guess, 'cause why else would Perra be sitting here beside me, the editor of death, and enjoying his whiskey and coke?

"Today the tormented voice of Juha has ended up on a couple of songs too, yes, that means we've started to record the vokills, it all sounds really promising. We can't wait to let you guys and gals listen to this! And by now you should all understand that Daniel is not participating on this recording or the future of Nominon!"

Burst Comments On Tour Date Cancellations

Sweden's Burst, who are currently on their farewell U.S. tour before disbanding, have issued the following announcement about canceling several tour dates due to mechanical issues:

"So....this tour could've started better....

"We left Friday's cool but by technial difficulties plagued gig at the Planet Caravan fest in high spirits, only to find that our coach bus had broken down. Ringo, bus drive extraordinaire (he drove fucking Britney Spears for God's sake), went crazy with the phone and managed to get a mechanic down to the bus in the morning. The mechanic, however, was a big boned-fellow, and since his hands were two fat to reach into the engine, that didn't work. He tried getting his retard son to come down and fix it (apparebntly he had thinner hands/arms), but he was on probation, so that didn't work. Thus, we were stuck in the middle of the NC mountains (beautiful country though), forced to cancel the Richmond, VA show. Frustrating, to say the least. We're in this country to play music, not to sit in a bus and drink Milwaukee Best and look at the rain. Got to see Yob and Astra on the second day of the Planet Caravan fest though. Awesome.

"Third day of tour. Bus still unfixed. Mechanic at church. Ringo, the hero, has been on the phone to every bus driver and 80's rock hero in the country (he knows them all; Jackyl, Cheap Trick, Corabi...etc) to get us a new bus, but since we are faaaaar away from any tour circuit, getting a new bus has been a bitch. The latest news is that we will get a bus at 10 o'clock tonight...thus missing the Allentown, PA show all the same. DAMN IT!

"Very sorry to all, we are so frustrated about this jinxed start of the tour. We WILL however, make the Brooklyn show and all following shows."

Misery Index Writing New Material

Misery Index has issued the following update about recording new material:

"We just got back from Brooklyn, and it was a blast. Particularly cause friends showed up to say hello...Bones, Doug and Chris - from Suffocation's classic lineup in the 90s, were in attendance, among other great New York area friends like Anita and Jess, the Generation Records Crew, the Long Island crew plus Sean+Without Remorse, and even our friend from Austria showed. Thanks to the WNYU peeps for putting it together, and to top it off playing with our local brothers in Criminal Element and an array of new bands was a blast (check em all out!), as well as the amazing 5 AM bar closing time tin NYC...gotta love the flexibility. Now we are focusing on writing...4 new songs in the works now...and aiming to record in Jan/Feb."

The Konsortium Announces New Guitarist

Norway's The Konsortium has issued the following announcement about recruiting a new guitarist:

"Finally: After some tiresome months of uncertainty, the search for a new guitarist is over. Most of you are already familiar with Teloch's splendid work (Nidingr/ Umoral/ NunFuckRitual/ ex- Orcustus/ God Seed live/ ex-1349 live/ ex- Gorgoroth live). We are dead certain that his authoritarian and razor-sharp riffing will fit perfectly with our music.

"Being one man short has unfortunately stalled the progress of the album-recording. However, with this latest addition to our ranks, the first steps towards a finished album can be taken.

"Darkness Forever!"

Sunday Old School: Sick Of It All's "Step Down"

I love this song because it’s got that massive hxc anthem vibe. This song was covered all the time in my old scene, and it was always a blast to sing along with everyone. But you’re not just getting a great song in the video – it’s also a great dancing tutorial. I’m more of a gorilla/pickin’ up change guy.
