Al Jourgensen Collaborates With Mark Thwaite
Al Jourgensen (Ministry, etc.) has hooked up with guitarist Mark Thwaite (Mission UK, Peter Murphy, Tricky, Mob Research) in the studio, collaborating on several projects simultaneously. Jourgensen and Thwaite, both long-time friends of Killing Joke/Ministry bassist Paul Raven, who passed away October 20, 2007, joined forces recently at Jourgensen's 13th Planet compound in Texas on RevCo projects and another Jourgensen side project.
Thwaite collaborated with Ministry/RevCo guitarist Sin Quirin on "Filthy Senoritas," for the upcoming RevCo release slated for Spring 2010. But the crowning jewel of the Jourgensen/Thwaite collaboration is the newly penned as yet untitled Christmas Song to be released via digital download exclusively this Thanksgiving. To celebrate the memory of their "favorite pirate" Paul Raven 13th Planet will debut the track on October 20th, 2009 via Ministry's Myspace page.

Sunday Old School: Praise Exhorder
New Orleans extreme metal band Exhorder has often been cited for creating the sound that Pantera made famous. While the sound on their two classic albums, "Slaughter in the Vatican" (1990) and "The Law" (1992), was a little more extreme, sounding more like a thrashy death metal band than Pantera, the band complained of the final mix and did not approve of it. To be honest, they were still more extreme than Pantera and other thrash/groove bands that would rise to stardom in the 90s. The band broke up in 1992, still fairly underground, meaning many of today's metal heads may never have even heard of them.
Exhorder frontman Kyle Thomas went on to front other bands such as Floodgate, Trouble, and Alabama Thunderpussy among other less notable bands.
Exhorder reunited for a few shows in 2008 and announced their intention to re-record some new material as well as produce new material.
Here is a classic Exhorder video of "Slaughter In The Vatican" performed in Heidelberg on October 9, 1992, with a bonus video after the jump.

Vintage Flesh Comments On Alice Cooper
New Hampshire metallers Vintage Flesh have issued the following statement about Alice Cooper's connection to black metal:
"IF DOOM HAS BLACK SABBATH TO THANK, THEN BLACK METAL HAS ALICE COOPER AS ITS FOREFATHER. How can this be so? well since you are fool enough to ask, I suppose I can enlighten you.
"First comes the voice of Alice, right from the first few Albums Alice struck a warped chord with his unsusally, disturbing, deviant, and decadent witch like vocals. Scaring the fuck out of people from as far back as the late sixties till now. Not entirely unlike black metal vocal styling of today, when closely compared. Some of Alice's earliest leather and stud get ups even predate Rob Halfords so called introduction of leather & spikes to the metal spectrum. dating back to '72' for Alice. Alice did dabble with the Devil back before the man who created him decided to seek out the dirty hippy Jewish guy called Jesus. but that was many years later.
"Alice basically married horror and hard rock which when it comes together what do ya got kids??? HEAVY METAL!!!! ALICE'S first album came out one year before B.Sabbaths and it was called pretties for you. Perverted name and album art included. The sound is bombastic unpredictable and hard to listen to for most. sorta like, HEAVY METAL!!!!! In fact i personally believe you can trace the first true doom metal songs back to this very album by Alice. the song is called 'fields of regret' and it is arguably heavier then anything from Sabbaths first album that came out one YEAR later! ALICE-1969 B.Sabbath-1970!!! Look it up! More...

Darkwater Issues Band Update
Sweden's Darkwater has issued the following update about seeking a new bassist and writing new material:
"We've understood that a lot of people are curious and would like an update on what is going on with Darkwater at the moment. It..s now been a while since we released our first album and we quite recently parted with our bass player. So what is really happening in the dark waters?
"Regarding the bass player spot, we have auditioned several people but still haven't found exactly what we are looking for. We will keep looking until we find the perfect match. In the meantime we will use Simon Andersson (ex-Pain of Salvation) as a session player. He is an amazing bass player with lots of experience, and a better substitute would probably be impossible to find.
"And what is happening with the new album? For quite some time we've gone through all the music we've had laying around, re-written a lot of it and written a bunch of new songs. So right now we have far too many songs to put on one album, or even ten albums. But we are doing our best to choose the most fitting songs for this up-coming album. We still have a lot of lyrics to write and also some melodies, but we are planning to head into the recording studios later this year. So some time next year there will be a new Darkwater album out for you to enjoy.
"Thank for your support, and patience!"

Rammstein Explains "Pussy" Music Video
In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Richard Kruspe, the guitarist for German Industrial Metal outfit Rammstein, has explained the reasons for chosing the song, "Pussy" as their new single and the details behind the music video. An excerpt reads as follows:
Originally we were going to do a song like ‘Mein Tiel’, a core-sounding song,” says Kruspe. “But we were bored of doing the same thing again and again and I said “let’s do ‘Pussy’. If we were to make a video for it, it could be really interesting. We went it out to our favourite director, Jonas Akerlund, and there was a 50/50 chance. He could love it or hate it.3 hours later we got an email from him saying “I’ve listened to the track, let’s make a revolution – let’s make a porn!” and I don’t forget the reaction of the band. They had a big smile on their faces and they say 'yes!'
"After doing the video, which was obviously quite interesting, we thought ‘you can’t play the video on video stations or MTV.' We just found another way to make it accessible to other people. At the moment, we’ve had 6.5 million people watching the video in one week. What I’m saying is that there’s always different ways.
"I remember how horrible it was in the first part of our career to be dependant on MTV and all of those station. You have to bend over so many times to get played, I just hate that fucking fact. I just like the fact that there’s always another way if you wish for it and you go for it. It just shows that there is always another way and it satisfies my mind and that we can do things exactly the way we think we should do it.
"It wasn’t a conscious thing, we just wanted to try something else. We shot a porn video, what’s the best place we can host it? On a porn site!"
Was there any point where you thought you’d gone too far?
Kruspe: "It was really professional! I was amazed, I always thought the porn industry was so cruel and dirty. Everything was so professional, I was amazed."
Were they actual adult stars you used in the video and was the sex real?
Kruspe: "Yeah."
Stunt cocks or your own?
Kruspe: "No comment.
Megadeth Frontman Denies "Big Four" Tour
In a recent message to the fans, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has spoken about the success of the bands latest record, "Endgame" and the bands long running feud with Metallica. The message reads as follows:
"I love you all so much. I see how much you want to help me, and how you are all helping squash the METALLICA bashing, and the poll at MH. I see how you are going out to the streets and checking in the stores and calling up the stations, and I appreciate it.
"The hard work begins now, and that starts with me. We have to prepare for a Phase 2 from the label (which should go without saying), but we are getting ready to choose a new single and Roadrunner's President told my manager Mark Adelman (best Megs manager to date), that they 'decided that they were going to go with a phase 2 for the new record.' I told our beloved webmaster this and in his childlike honesty he said, 'um, shouldn't there be like a phase 3, 4, and 5 too?' I said, 'One would think so,' so, I have to chalk this up to the hard work that you are all doing for us out on the streets.
"We are going to make some really killer posters available to you guys to download and print up to distribute in your towns and take to your favourite places (including but not limited to) clubs, stores, venues, events, arcades, tracks, courts, fields, and gyms. In return, we decided that we are going to make some show passes only available for those who really can rise to the occasion on helping us get in the trenches and again (including but not limited to) flier, poster, call and request, survey, research, and promote the band.
