Firewind guitarist Gus G. checked in with the following recap of all of the band's activities during the past months and more:
"Summer of 2009 is gone and we've just returned from the last festival show of the season! I must say that we had some really great shows this summer and Ilha do Ermal in Portugal was one of the best for us!
"It felt nice to return to Portugal (first time was in 2007) and see so many of our friends and fans! We even did an encore, usually that doesn't happen in a festival situation, but this time it worked out since people kept screaming for more and wouldn't let us leave the stage!
"Looking back now most of the shows were highlights. We're still amazed by the reception we got on our first trip to Turkey @ Unirock festival, the 'dream come true' gig by supporting the Scorpions @ Greece's Creta Festival (and me jamming w/ the Scorps later that night!), the completely packed 15.000 capacity tent @ Graspop and our glorious return to Finland @ the fantastic Tuska festival!
"Then of course there were the German shows. I'm glad we did both Rock Hard & Summer Breeze festival - my personal favourite being Rock Hard (such a great vibe in Gelsenkirchen!)
"In between the festival madness, something truly unbelievable happened to me: I played a show with the Godfather of heavy metal - Ozzy Osbourne! I spent the best time of my life in L.A, rehearsing with Ozzy and his band and on August 22nd we played the Blizzcon video game convention in Anaheim.,CA as most of you probably know by now. It would be stupid to go on about how cool and great this was - I don't think these feelings & this experience can be described with just a few words!
"We are aware that this has caused lots of our fans wondering about the future of FIREWIND. No need to worry about anything boys & girls, FIREWIND is stronger than ever and we're entering the studio @ the end of September to record our 6th studio album. We still don't have a title for it, but we do have 12 brand new Metal tunes that we're VERY proud of!!!
"In time we'll keep you updated with the recording process, reveal some song titles and hopefully show you some videos from the studio.
"Stay tuned & Stay Metal!
Gus G. will perform for the secnd time with Ozzy Osbourne on Saturday, September 12th at the Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles, California.
Blackguard vocalist Paul Ablaze has checked in with the following Summer Slaughter Tour recap and new album update:
"Hey everyone! Paul Ablaze here. I'm very sorry for the lack of updates, these things slip my mind sometimes . But here it is finally (better late than never i suppose) a little something to let you all know what's gone down and what's in the works!
"Summer Slaughter Re-cap (i started writing this a while ago)
"This years summer slaughter has come and gone. Beers were drunk, blood was shed, vomit covered jeans, didn't see anyone cry but who knows? Point is no one came out the other end of this beast unchanged in some way, and we are without a doubt stronger than we've ever been as a band because of it.
This being only our second full north american tour we had everything to prove to both the fans and our peers, and i believe we won the respect of both along the way. I had said early on in the tour how amazed i was on how social everyone was and how much we as a tour came together and pulled for one another. I truly believe that the only reason this tour finished when it was suppose to and not 4 weeks earlier was because of the strength in character everyone displayed and how devoid everyone was of any kind of "ego" or "rock star" mentality.
"There are certain memories that surly stick out amongst the never ending (sometimes fuzzy) memories of good times that happened over the past month and a half. a few note worthy ones include: More...

Christian rockers Stryper have issued the following statement about gearing up for their upcoming tour dates:
"Rehearsals are going extremely well. The guys are sounding incredible and really enjoying themselves. Spirits are high. Laughter, smiles, practical jokes, and of course intense hard-work and long days of practice fill the air as the band gears up to kick-off their 25th Anniversary world tour this Friday, September 11 at 'House of Blues' in Boston.
"Tuesday was spent running through the set several times and tweaking the new in-ear monitor system they'll be using on this tour. Also this week, the final yellow and black outfits arrived via FedEx. That was an exciting moment - like unwrapping a present on Christmas morning. Everyone is thrilled with the job Ray Brown did with the outfits (Ray Brown was the original outfit designer from the 80's).
The band also took a brief break from rehearsals to meet with One Verse, the ministry in which we are partnering with during this tour. Tom Scholz and Gary Pihl from BOSTON stopped by yesterday and briefly ran through 'Peace of Mind'. They'll be sitting in with the band on September 11 in Boston. If you live anywhere in the Boston area, or even if you don't, this is a show worth catching. It will be a historic night. More...

Frontiers Records has announced the official release date of WINGER’s fifth studio album entitled “Karma” as October 16th in Europe and October 27th in the USA.
WINGER reunited after more than a decade in 2006 for the release of the successful come back album entitled “IV,” dealing with the concept of the military life and what it was like to be a soldier, from a soldier’s perspective, leaving politics at the door. “After Winger IV we toured the United States, Europe, Australia and Japan during which made a live record” says Kip Winger. “When the chance came up to do a new Winger record, I envisioned a upbeat totally rocking record that was a cross between the 1st Winger album and Pull. So Reb and I sat down and wrote all the music in a month or so. I worked for 6 months to finish it in the classic Winger style”.
The title itself “Karma” represents Winger completing its full musical circle as Kip Winger explains “We were discussing the very interesting path the band has had and we have all been through so much together. So we went for “Karma” as this is a word that truly sums up the experience of being in the band.”
“Usually Winger fans don’t 'expect' anything because they know we do what we feel like doing artistically,” explains Kip. “It is not a commercially driven band. I can say that the songs are very upbeat”. Reb Beach adds: “It's a very up-tempo riff driven rocking record. It has the elements of vintage Winger from ‘89 but has the blood, sweat and tears of years 20 years of writing, recording and touring!”
“Karma” will be released with the first pressing in limited digipak edition and includes the following songs:
Deal With The Devil
Stone Cold Killer
Big World Away
Come A Little Closer
Pull Me Under
Always Within Me
After All This Time
First Ending (Bonus Track)
Also included there will be an Electronic Press Kit, with footage filmed in the studio during the recording sessions, that is playable on all computers as an interactive bonus.
Winger also announced their forthcoming European tour in support to the new album’s release: More...
