Deadwalk Reveals New Album Details

Canada's Deadwalk has issued the following update about releasing a new album titled "Scandalous:"

"Hey

"Well it's been awhile since we have made a blog. You may have heard rumors that we broke up, this is not the case!

"Last summer we did tour dates with Recon, thick as blood, and gaining ground. Yes after that we only played a few shows in and around the montreal area. during that time we went through big member changes. Went from 2 guitars to 1. Lost a bassist, and a drummer. Our line up since has been solid for almost a year now. In the spring we did a bunch of tour dates, and shows with bands like bury your dead, bleeding through, and the acacia strain. More recently we finished our album, as you can see on our profile we have 2 new songs up off the new full length. It will hit store OCTOBER 27, through 'Year of the Sun records'. YOTS has been really good to us, and we are very excited about this album coming out and working with our lable to get this band to where it needs to be! The album is called 'Scandalous', 10 tracks, we have a guest appearance by jesse 'stick to your guns.' The tracks sound awesome.

"Right now we are spreading the word about the album, and playing shows. We did some solo dates this summer in places all over Quebec and Ontario, they went extremely well. We also had a blast going dates with our friends in Abacabb, and for the fallen dreams.

"For now: We already started making songs for the next album. We are also booking our cd release tour for November. If you want us in your city let us know!"

Unearthing the Metal Underground In Long Island

This week on Unearthing the Metal Underground I am delving into the Long Island, New York scene. This was a bit of a hard task, since a lot of amazing bands I knew of from Long Island have since broken up or are on hiatus, such as Shadowgate. It's not that the scene there is dying, it's just changing. I find more hardcore bands than real metal bands. Most of the people I meet form there love Pantera and Machine Head and other groove metal bands. Furthermore, many bands are switching to a rock/metal crossover styles. The following bands are currently unsigned and from somewhere on Long Island, NY. More...

Dark Tranquillity Posts Track from CD/DVD Online

Melodic Death Metal legend Dark Tranquillity will release “Where Death Is Most Alive” DVD / live album on October 26th, 2009 in Europe and November 11th, 2009 in the US. This incredible career spanning DVD will include a 20-songs main show filmed in Milan (Italy) in 2008, as well as a second DVD containing tons of previously unreleased live footage, all promo clips, a 47 minutes long documentary and much more.

The main show’s audio, mixed by the renowned Tue Madsen, will also be released as a separate live 2CD and you can now listen to a first teaser track, “The Treason Wall (Live in Milan 2008),” at the band’s redesigned MySpace page.

As a very exclusive premiere of the DVD, German Metal Hammer magazine & Mikael Stanne (vocals) visited a dedicated Dark Tranquillity fan with cases of beer, chips and of course the brand-new DVD in his living room. Stanne comments:

“Damn, the past weekend was a tough one. Actually one of the craziest weekends in Germany ever! First I had the honour of premiering our forthcoming DVD for some really cool guys from Bochum who applied for a Metal Hammer competition. And being the “prize,” I had to be the good houseguest and bring tons of beer and booze to their houseparty that of course quickly got out of hand in the best possible way. It was great seeing the DVD with other people so I got a chance to get some perspective on it. And judging from the reactions, this is a real winner. Thanks guys for making me feel at home and being exremely cool. Then it was on to Hellflame festival where madness, nakedness, darkness and drunkedness happened as usual. Got to meet some new friends and had an altogether great time.

Cheers guys & look out for our brand-new DVD! / Mikael Stanne”

Pictures from the “Where Death Is Most Alive” living room premiere will be posted soon.
