Aeon Recording New Album

Swedish metallers Aeon have issued the following announcement about recording a new album:

"1st of September, AEON once again enters the Empire Studio here in Ostersund/Sweden to record our third (yet untitled) upcoming album. As of today, we are about half way through the recording-process and it’s going exactly as planned. 10 new songs are being put on tape (hard drive) and we are pretty confident that all of you who liked our previous efforts or death metal in general will love this. When we are done tracking the songs, none other than Erik Rutan from HATE ETERNAL/ex-MORBID ANGEL at Mana Studios in Florida will be mixing the album. You may know his killer work from such bands as CANNIBAL CORPSE, NILE, VITAL REMAINS, GOATWHORE among others. We are absolutely confident that this death metal maniac will give us the mix/production we are looking for. Erik is a really great guy, an awesome studio engineer/producer, a killer musician and he really knows his death metal A/B’s. This will, without a doubt kick some serious ass.

"A note on the recording, since we recently replaced our bass player, Daniel & Zeb are handling all the bass on this album. There wasn’t enough time for Victor to learn the songs and both studios where already booked. No worries though, both Daniel & Zeb can handle a bass so this is not a problem. Once the album is finished it will be released by Metal Blade Records. No release dates are set at this point.

"Stay tuned for more details and info as this Death Metal Opus is coming to life."

Hod Appearing In New Metal Documentary

Hod guitarist Carl "Lord Necron" Snyder has issued the following statement about appearing in the upcoming metal documentary "Slow Southern Steel:"

"The South will rise again! Now that we got your attention. Hod is a part of a new metal documentary about bands from the South called 'Slow Southern Steel'. The film focuses on Southern acts that play doom, sludge, death metal. HOD represents the more extreme side of things in the South, so they asked us to represent the death/black/thrash/whatever-you-want-to-call-it metal in the South. The film includes live footage of the band playing that is shot with multi camera so it some cool stuff. HOD vocalist Beer Reebs does a killer interview in the film too. Any fan of metal will enjoy this film."

The 80-plus-minute film is executive-produced by Karim Khan (I'm Better Than Everyone Records) and directed by RWAKE vocalist CT and David Lipke with the additional assistance of George Hancock, Alix Petrovich and BEER WOLF guitarist Christian Sweeney (who will be releasing a paperback version of the production) among many others. A trailer for the film can be viewed below.

"Slow Southern Steel" will make its debut at the Little Rock Film Festival in May of 2010. The DVD edition is slated to be released in 2011. More...

Behemoth's Evangelion Released In India

Indian Label, Demonstealer Records, home to a few of the best the country has to offer, such as Demonic Ressurection, Workshop, Myndsnare and Exhumation, will be releasing Behemoth's latest opus, "Evangelion" in India.

Label Owner Shahil Makhija commented; "Its a great honour for me to release the Behemoth album in India, they are one of my favourite bands to listen to. When their management approached me I took a risk and said yes because as a metal lover it sucks that you don't get original releases and most kids download new albums. This way the album is available and its got a little some extra that makes you want to buy it.

Demonstealer Records is basically India's only label dedicated to extreme metal and we've been around since 2005 officially. We released many local bands and artists over the years and even set up a fairly good international CD distro and sell lots of underground bands.

The release of Evangelion in India is a big step for us and its basically testing the waters to see if its feasible to regularly release such great bands in India so metal heads here have access to original CDs and merchandise."

Earthen Announces New Line-Up

Folk metallers Earthen have issued the following announcement about working on new material and completing their line-up:

"Its as almost as if this was ‘the year without a summer’ in Chicago, very mild and cool. And now its almost over. As we say Farewell to Litha, we've been quite busy these last weeks. Id like to say, besides working with Dominik, Sophia, and Julian from URN as live session members, Mark Piotrowski(Experiment, Oversoul13, Triple Scorpio) has been added to the EARTHEN line-up in the lead guitarist position. As it stands the current line-up is... "We are currently finishing up the recording project. There are a few more visits for the recording aspect and then it will be a chore to mix. We've since added a few new tunes and covers to the slew of tunes we are brewing. SOme of the new titles are... Washing Away, Farewell Litha, and we covered... Summerland (Kings X), I Am A Viking (Y Malmsteen), The Glorious Moment acousticly (Nachtmystium)

Edenbridge Cancels Caos Emergente Appearance

Austria's Edenbridge has issued the following statement about canceling their appearance at the Caos Emergente Festival in Portugal:

"Sadly we have to announce that we will not play at the Caos Emergente Festival, Recarei-Paredes, Portugal on September 12.

"The promoter Big Dog Productions was not able to provide flight tickets for the band and crew according to the contract.

"After numerous mails from the band for more than 2 months concerning the flight tickets, the promoter put off the band until the last week before the festival just to say that now the flight tickets are too expensive for them, which is no wonder when you wait until the last moment. The proposal from the promoter to fly in the band from Munich instead of Linz according to the contract was logistically not possible for the band to solve in such short time. We would have loved to play for our Portuguese fans!"
