"If your favourite video clip from S A M A E L is Baphomet’s Throne you’re going to love the new Black Hole video. It’s black and white with lots of live footage taken from the latest Swiss shows all mixed up with various designs and animations. It has been filmed and edited by Sergeï Ulyanov who happens to be the bass player of Makro’s death/doom metal band Sludge. We’ve tried to come up with something simple which would fit the intensity and aggressiveness of the song. The video is very dense and hard to digest at once… you’ve been warned!" More...

Sevendust Issues New Album Update
Sevendust has issued the following announcement about working on a new record:
"We've been writing and recording demos with Corey Lowery engineering, which have been amazingly productive and creative, over the past few months. We wana thank Corey for making a very cool atmosphere for us and helping us achieve the material we needed. We look forward to continuing work with Corey in the future. We've have hired on Johnny K(Disturbed, Staind) to produce the next Sevendust record. We've enjoyed his work over the years and believe he is the guy for the job. This record is VERY important and we have some of the best songs going into this process than we ever have.
"We read your comments on here and we believe you will not be disappointed. We still have a ways to go but we hope to have it out by spring next year. We will be up in the Chicago area for the rest of the year working on it and are ready to peel faces off with this thing. It's a very creative time for the band and being back to the original line up will reinstall the elements that made us what we are. Thank you for your support and cannot wait to put this record out.
"We will be launching new official website, video blogs of progress and pictures as we record this so stay tuned, we want to keep everyone of you in the loop as we go."
Solstafir Issues Tour Recap
Solstafir has issued the following recap of their recent tour dates:
"Köbenhavn: After taking the boat back from Sweden to Denmark it took us a few hours just to get the bus into the street of the venue. Some part of the street had been closed or what not and Christian our loyal German bus driver was having problems with getting the bus to fit in there. But he made it eventually with German efficiency. There has never been much rock’n’roll in Denmark and I didn’t expect a huge crowd. The venue (The Rock) is big and grand, and my expectations proved right, it was more than half empty. We still had a great time there, meeting up with our friends Thomas and his father and old roadcrew, the entire roadcrew Óli Tröllabarn. A roadie that works like 3 men and drinks like 5! We did our best for the ca 30-40 people that actually did show up and did a pretty good show in an awesome sound. Afterwards we had a few beers with the other bands and our roadcrew in front of 7-11, just like true rockstars!
Setlist:
Intro (Náttfari)
78 Days in the Desert
Köld
She Destroys Again
Pale Rider
Ritual of Fire More...

Original Candiria Guitarist Passes Away

“Chris Puma died on September 20th 2009. The cause is not known to us, as his family did not speak of it. He leaves behind two children, 3 year old Aislinn A'marie and a 4 month old Aidan Todd. Chris was a great friend to the founding members of the band, and a respected musician among his friends and peers. He was a kind and gentle person and he will be missed.”
Puma was one of the founding members of the band, playing guitar in Candiria from 1992 to 1997, while helping to create the unique sound that Candiria is known for today. He can be heard on such Candiria records as Deep in the Mental (1995) and Surrealistic Madness (1995).

"Slow Southern Steel" Documentary In The Works
One of the most comprehensive southern metal documentaries ever made is coming in 2010. Appropriately dubbed "Slow Southern Steel," the 80+ minute film is executive produced by Karim Khan (I'm Better Than Everyone Records) and directed by Rwake vocalist CT and David Lipke with the additional and integral assistance of George Hancock, Alix Petrovich and Beer Wolf guitarist Christian Sweeney (who will be releasing a paperback version of the production) among many others.
"Slow Southern Steel" peers into the world of true southern metal/doom through live footage and personal interviews; CT's devout commitment/knowledge/love of the topic at hand bringing the movie to life in a way few first-time directors can. Said CT about the laborious undertaking: "I knew there were things I could get out of these bands that other film makers could not." Added Khan, "There's just something very appealing to me about taking unyielding heavy songs and adding a strong southern element to them."
At press time, the film was still being shot and thus far, featured bands will include (in alphabetical order): A Hanging, ASG, Baron Grod, Beaten Back To Pure, Beer Wolf, Black Skies, Black Tusk, Blackblood Division, Blood Of The Sun, Collapsar, Colossus, Cough, Dark Castle, Deadbird, Dead-I-On, Dixie Witch, Doomsayer, Eyehategod, Flesh Parade, Haarp, Hawg Jaw, HOD, Hope And Suicide, Hostile Apostle, House Of Lightning, In The Lurch, Jucifer, Ketea, Khann, Kylesa, Mala Suerte, Music Hates You, Parasytic, Queen Beast, Royal Thunder, Rwake, Seahag, SeaWitch, Sourvein, Speedealer, Spickle, Suplecs, Subrig Destroyer, The Devil And The Sea, The Dumps, The Roller, The Unbeheld, Vessel Of The Divine, Weedeater, Withered and Zoroaster.
"Slow Southern Steel" will make its debut at the renowned Little Rock Film Festival in May of 2010 (www.littlerockfilmfestival.org) where many of the bands featured will be in attendance. Additional festival previews will follow.
The DVD edition is slated to be released in 2011 via fast-growing, vinyl-only (and now DVD) Chicago imprint, I'm Better Than Everyone Records.
You can check out a two-minute "Slow Southern Steel" trailer below.
