Vocalist of New Orleans, Louisiana blackened thrashers Goatwhore has provided the following statement in regards to the band's plans of recording a new album.
Ben Falgoust commented by saying:
"Just when one tour comes to an end, another few step into place. We have, as always, put an extreme effort on touring for each release we put out. Our most current release, 'Carving Out The Eyes Of God', is no exception and has brought us on many great touring adventures. Just returning home from Ozzfest 2010 we find ourselves locking in the rest of the year with two excellent tours. First, alongside our good friends in The Black Dahlia Murder, then a final end of the year outing with the black art of Watain.
"The Ozzfest experience was a great thing to be a part of. Playing and hanging with good friends and the bonus of watching some legendary musicians that have influenced us from our earlier metal years. We are looking forward to finishing up the year and getting things rolling for the next release. Hope to see everyone on the road in the next couple of months"

Members of New Orleans metal supergroup Down have commented on the release of their forthcoming live album "Diary Of A Mad Band." "Diary Of A Mad Band" is set for release in the U.S. on October 5th, 2010 through Down Records. The album also contains a bonus DVD featuring a different setlist than the one featured on the CD.
Philip Anselmo commented by saying:
"This is a semi-ugly glimpse into what would end up the perfect building blocks to a much more prosperous future! Raw, distorted, unpredictable, and with a freshly mended spine in tow, these shows were desperately important to us as a cohesive unit. Take this trip through the old days with us at your own risk, and don’t forget to bring some aspirin!"
Pepper Keenan had this to say:
"The DVD is an in-depth look at what five boys from the wrong side of the tracks can achieve when motivated by the will to escape hard times, fueled by an unexplainable quest to destroy live and be embraced by the love of fans whom we had not had the pleasure of meeting yet. This is how it’s supposed to be: rock solid." More...
Psychedelic, high-volume blues rock ensemble U.S. CHRISTMAS will release their long-anticipated fifth full-length, "Run Thick In The Night," via Neurot Recordings on September 20, 2010. The disc was recorded by Sanford Parker at Fahrenheit Studio in Johnson City, Tennessee, mixed by Parker and USX members Nate Hall, Matt Johnson and Josh Holt at Semaphore Studios in Chicago, IL and mastered by Collin Jordan.
Said Hall of the upcoming release: "This record followed some difficult times for many of us, and I think you can hear that in RTITN. It is not as lyrically dark as ETLD, however it is a continuation of those elements. Run Thick In The Night is rooted in something outside of us, but is driven by a clear and persistent vision. It was necessary for USX to make this album, and it was something I absolutely had to do. I can't really explain it any better than to simply say that it is a very personal, spiritual album for me. ...When I hear the music now I see distinct real places that have, over time, woven into my imagination and become surreal."
"We recorded the entire 13-song album in one weekend in Tennessee, with Sanford Parker at the helm," he continues. "Our friend Travis Kammeyer helped out a lot with studio time and he added some really cool Hammond organ sounds. Minsk drummer Tony Wyioming also played hand drums on a few tracks. Our friend from North Carolina, Hush, did the original artwork, which I think really fits the mood perfectly. Josh Graham from Neurosis/A Storm Of Light did the layout work for us, and it was the perfect finishing touch. I am really proud of RTITN, and really proud of everyone in USX."
As a precursor to the release, the band will embark on three North Carolina shows with fellow NC doom trio BLACK SKIES. In November, the band will play "Run Thick In The Night" in its entirety at The Hideaway in Johnson City, Tennessee.

The underground metal scene in Vancouver is one that is constantly thriving and growing each and every day and is a city that is constantly churning out new, young metal bands. Some are fantastic, some are good and some are down right terrible. One thing that remains a constant though is the fact that Vancouver has one of the top metal scenes in the world. A scene that has have given unholy birth to numerous internationally recognized bands.
One of the more respected and talented of these young Vancouver metal acts is Funeral Circle. Signed to the U.K. based Miskatonic Foundation; Funeral Circle have slowly become a name to be reckoned with throughout the world doom metal scene. Having released it's debut EP "Sinister Sacrilege" in December of 2009 the band are preparing their second onslaught to be unleashed upon the globe. Funeral Circle guitarist Pilgrim sat down with Metalunderground.com to discuss the band's history, present day and its blasphemous future. More...
San Francisco bay area act Imagika has commenced writing for the band's upcoming 8th album. The follow up to “Portrait Of A Hanged Man” will see the debut appearance of new members guitarist Rob Kowolski and drummer Wayne DeVecchi. Guitarist Steve Rice will again engineer the new album, which will be mixed by Andy LaRocque. Founding member Steve Rice discusses the approach to the new CD by stating:
"The band is definitely ready to kick ass with the new material that has been developing since we’ve been back from our US tour this past Summer. 13 new songs are in the works and as usual it will be a departure from our past releases. The original idea was to approach this as a concept album, but we agreed that it’s been beat to death by so many other bands that there is no point. I mean how can you top some of the great Metal concept albums like Operation Mind Crime or Abigail? It’s very hard to accomplish and not really our thing at the end of the day.
"But after hearing our singer’s seemingly endless collection of fruity, flowery Euro Power Metal while on the tour bus and sparing his iPod a horrible asphalt death I definitely knew what I didn't want to do! HA! A CD full of progressive, complex and melodic Thrash Metal is more appealing to me and the band at this point and decidedly the definitive goal for this next release. By bringing new blood into the band there’s an aggressive attitude for making a bold statement with a lot to prove! Also being able to approach the recordings as a 2 guitar band is inspiring since we haven’t done that since our 'My Bloodied Wings' 2006 release. It’ll be cool to kick it up a notch and bring more shred and harmony to the table this time. All in all I’m expecting nothing but the best from the band."
California death metallers Fatalist have announced the return of drummer Tyler Castro to their ranks. "Fatalist is happy to have Tyler Castro back behind the drums. We would like to thank Sean Jessel for performing on our Death cover 'Beyond The Unholy Grave' and playing our 2010 shows so far. Tyler played on our album The Depths of Inhumanity and our demo Loss and will be playing with us on our upcoming shows as well as on the November 19-21 dates with Fatalist and Incantation in Chicago, New York, and Cleveland. We are working on new songs for the next album."
Fatalist has the following upcoming tour dates:

The organizers of New York's TMT Metal Fest have issued the following statement about rumors of bands dropping off the bill:
"Well folks, Contrary to whatever idiots out there in metal land that are saying that any of the National Acts on the Fest are dropping out is a complete lie! I say this! Fuck them all! They are just weak ass haters with nothing else better to do. So if you want to listen to whomever, then go right ahead & sit home!"
The festival is set to take place from September 24th - 26th, 2010 in Middletown, New York. Announced bands for the lineup include Goatwhore, Suffocation, Otep, Winds of Plague, Carnifex, and more.
Goatwhore has announced three upcoming tours, alongside The Absence, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Watain. Vocalist Ben Falgoust has commented on the upcoming tour schedule:
"Just when one tour comes to an end another few step into place. We have, as always, put an extreme effort on touring for each release we put out. Our most current release, Carving Out The Eyes of God, is no exception and has brought us on many great touring adventures. Just returning home from Ozzfest 2010 we find ourselves locking in the rest of the year with two excellent tours. First, alongside our good friends in The Black Dahlia Murder, then a final end of the year outing with the black art of Watain. The Ozzfest experience was a great thing to be a part of. Playing and hanging with good friends and the bonus of watching some legendary musicians that have influenced us from our earlier metal years. We are looking forward to finishing up the year and getting things rolling for the next release. Hope to see everyone on the road in the next couple of months."
Drummer Zack Simmons adds: "This has been a great time touring for this record. We've been very fortunate to been included on a lot of good tours. It was an honor to be included on Ozzfest once again. We are very confident and determined to deliver another killer record and tour our asses off again, as we always do! Stay fuck!!! Stay thirsty, my friends! P.S. Be careful where you store your sewing needles. You never know what can happen…"

Metallica has issued the following statement about rumors the band would not be performing the upcoming tour date in Christchurch, New Zealand:
"We're in route to Melbourne and we're psyched about getting out there and getting amongst it again. We kinda make it a policy here to not respond to rumors and speculation, however the recent magnitude 7.2 earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand is certainly a unique situation and we are aware that there have been various reports that we would not make it there.
"Well, we're coming. Full bore. Between working through European volcanic ash clouds last April (and not missing any shows...) and living in California most of our lives, we are no strangers to the effects of natural disasters and our hearts go out to those of you affected by this major tremor. What we can and will do is what we always do – come and play, give 110%, and 'rock the house' (!!) in our own unique way for the two nights we're in Christchurch. We're looking forward to our Fall in Australia and New Zealand... it's just beginning!"

We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week we hear from German metal band Emergency Gate. Guitarist Udo shares his wall of death experience with us:
It was the last day of the Chaos over Europe Tour 2009, on which I had the honour to support Kreator, Caliban and Eluveitie with my band Emergency Gate for 2 months. This evening was a special evening so our other guitar player Vlad and me decided to join Caliban‘s wall of death for the first time. So when they started playing their third song we knew from the nights before, that it was wall of death time. We went to the very first row where the Andy, the vocalist from Caliban saw me, smiled and said: "EVERYONE AGAINST UDO."
Well, it wasn‘t as painful as expected, but Vlad and me both lost our bracelets.
Emergency Gate recently posted an exclusive trailer for their new album "The Nemesis Construct," which is due out in North America on October 5th. You can also check out their official music video for "Point Zero" here.
