Danish metal act Mnemic has released the following comments regarding the band's decision to cancel it's November and December European tour:
"For some of you who have been following MNEMIC for a long time, you might have noticed some unfamiliar faces in the lineup during the festival season of 2010. Due to a tendonitis surgery, Rune Stigart, was forced to sit out on a couple of festivals, and has been replaced by the band's touring guitarist, Victor Solomonsen. Furthermore, three weeks ago, unfortunately, bassist Tomas 'Obeast' Koefoed had an accident wherein his index-finger got caught and crushed by a hydraulic pump. The power and pressure of the pump crushed his bone and damaged a nerve, and has now made it impossible for him to play his instrument for an undetermined time. This is one of the reasons that MNEMIC performed in Ukraine, at the Global East Fest, without a bass player, without Tomas. We are all very sad about this situation, especially Tomas. Our thoughts and hearts are with him, and we wish to see him recover and back on stage [as soon as possible], where he truly belongs.
"On another note, we have been planning a European tour for November and December, but due to circumstances beyond our control, it's with heavy hearts and deep regrets that we are being forced to cancel, due to the above-mentioned problems. To anyone who have been looking forward to be seeing the band, we are extremely SORRY (!!!), but we promise we will make it up to you again in 2011, as we will reschedule the tour."
Swedish death metal act Vomitory has posted a new cover song to the band's official Myspace page. The band covered the 1991 Napalm Death track "Mass Appeal Madnes," which appeared on an EP of the same name.
Vomitory commented on the cover track by saying:
"Since spring 2005 we have had this little piece of brutality laying in our digital drawer, and we admit it's a shame it hasn't seen the light of day until now! This version of 'Mass Appeal Madness' was recorded for a Napalm Death tribute album that never saw the light of day. With this song we want to give you fans something exclusive but also salute one of the most influential bands for Vomitory — ever since 1989 to present day."
You can check out the cover song at this location.

Thanks to the Cretin Hop, Oddesey, Killing the Masses, and all the bands fans and friends we met.
"I'd also like to thank my band mates for stepping up. handling the transport of the gear and renting the van so I could spend a few days with my dad after the show. Extra special thanks to Nanette for merchandising, and support and personal assistance on this trip, and for being my best friend and companion, I love you, thanks! Oregon based, blackened death metal act Arkhum recently got picked up by Vendlus Records for the release of the band's debut full-length album "Anno Universum." Heavy on the technicality, and oozing an atmosphere of Lovecraft style sci-fi, the album is a surprising piece of metal mayhem from a band on the rise.
While discussing the themes of the album, Arkhum bassist Matt Edwards stated, "They’re our way of trying to convey the feelings we get of just looking out into the stars at night, wrapped in the shroud of science fiction and various scenarios taking place in the cosmos." He goes on to explain how he adds his own bass groove to a brutal death metal release, how the band works as a unit, and where Arkhum is going from here. More...
Freedom of expression is likely not the first thing that comes to mind when one mentions the People’s Republic of China. It’s a place where the mere mention of anything that might be construed as being the least bit anti-authoritarian by the powers that be can land a person in jail, and dissidents are regularly executed by the state or simply disappeared without even the pretense of due process. But luckily for the metal heads residing in the world’s most populous nation, the government censors have bigger fish to fry than metal bands, and so China’s budding metal community, which features its own independent labels dedicated solely to various facets of the broad genre, and even a nationally published print magazine focusing on all sounds hard and heavy, has been allowed to develop as the country has opened itself up to outside influences in the past couple of decades. Here’s a look at three bands waving the metal flag in the pseudo-communist house that Mao built.
Imitation is often considered the sincerest form of flattery, and if that is indeed the case, then by all means keep Chaotic Aeon’s music away from John McEntee, Ross Dolan, and Gene Palubicki, lest the founders of Incantation, Immolation, and Angelcorpse respectively experience a simultaneous head implosion. If you don’t believe me, try playing any one of the tracks currently streaming on the band’s myspace page, and see if the death metal freak in the room doesn’t confuse Chaotic Aeon with any one of the three. But though the band, hailing from Xi’an, the midwestern Chinese city of Terra Cotta Army fame, may just be aping these American death metal greats, they do a damn good job of capturing their grimy, down tempo brutality that satisfyingly grinds down a mountain of granite like a dirty blackened glacier. The band currently has a six-song EP out on Pest Productions, a Chinese label specializing in black metal. More...

Mutiny Within, who recently parted ways with drummer Bill Fore, will pull out of the upcoming Nevermore tour as they seek for a replacement drummer:
"We're sorry to say that despite our best efforts, our plans to hit the road with Nevermore this month have sadly fallen through. As many of you know, we have been looking forward to being a part of this tour and seeing all of our fans again. However, we feel that in order to deliver our best performance every night, our search for a full time drummer has to take priority. Instead of hitting the road with a temporary member again, we want to take the time to properly audition and rehearse.
"We did have another drummer lined up to accompany us on this tour, but due to a slow visa process, rehearsal time was cut to an unworkable amount. Mutiny Within is not a 5 piece band and we need to find our 6th member to bring you guys what you deserve. We're so sorry to anybody who was looking forward to seeing us on this tour, but we cannot tour without a drummer. We know people will be upset and we apologize, but know that nobody will be more upset about this than we are. On a positive note, this gives us the time to work on brand new songs, which we've been looking forward to doing for some time.
"If anybody knows a suitable drummer or you are yourself, then please contact us at email@example.com. We hope you all understand this and will continue to support us. Keep checking back for further updates, thanks everyone. MW"
