Most Precious Blood Gives New Album Update
Most Precious Blood has checked in with updates on their forthcoming new album, "Do No Resuscitate," due out next year on Trustkill Records. The band has been tracking with Dean Baltulonis at Atomic (Sick Of It All, Pain It Black) and are finishing up now for a 2009 release.
Guitarist Justin Brannan said, "The new record is 1 part systems overload, 1 part Tragedy and 1 part funeral for a mexican bullfighter. We didn't listen to anything recorded after 1995 while recording this thing. We didn't set out to do anything but we wound up writing and recording a record that's a giant fuck you to just about everyone involved in underground music today. We stripped it down, covered it in bleach and set it on fire. We employed a scorched earth policy which involved destroying anything that might be useful to the enemy while advancing through or withdrawing from the area or scene. We may do some shows or tour to promote this record, we may not. We have not broken up, and we never will. We're doing what we want to do completely untethered to anyone or anything or any obligations or allegiance save for the 5 of us and maybe Geoff Silverman. We are unplugging the machine and letting it cool off. Let everyone else run around in circles for a while. We're buying run flats. That said, I think people who've supported us in the past we will enjoy this record. We stripped it all down and just left the engine."
Some song titles for "Do No Resuscitate" are:
A Danger To Myself And Others
Meth Mites
Graveyard Postcards
Steady Diet Of Wolf Eyes
Animal Mother
Dark The Suns' Keyboardist Leaves Band
Finland's Dark The Suns have issued the following update:
"Our keyboardist Juha left the band. Juha felt that he doesn't have enough time for band anymore. We thank Juha for the time we spent together and wish all the best for him!"
Visceral Bleeding Parts Ways With Guitarist
Swedish metallers, Visceral Bleeding, have issued the following update regarding the departure of guitarist Martin "Germ" Bermhedens:
"Due to Martin "Germ" Bermhedens busy schedule with The Berzerker we've decided to part ways. The decision was mutual since we need everyone in this band to put V.B as their first priority for things to work and Germ felt that this was no longer possible for him. We wish him the best of luck with The Berzerker and all of his other projects." More...
Ulrich On Expectations to Save Metal
From Blabbermouth:
Stevie Chick of The Guardian conducted an interview with METALLICA at the end of August when the band was in the UK to play the Reading festival. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
On how long they will be able to continue as METALLICA:
Lars Ulrich (drums): "In the immortal words of Noel Gallagher, I'm gonna live forever. [That's] the $64,000 question. THE ROLLING STONES are setting a great precedent, but Charlie Watts doesn't play drums on songs like 'Fight Fire With Fire' every night, no disrespect. Will we be able to play the shit we do when we're 65? I don't know. When it becomes a joke, we'll stop."
On the widely panned 2003 album "St. Anger":
James Hetfield: "'St Anger' happened because it had to happen. It sounds very disjointed to me when I listen to it now. One-dimensional. Relentless. And that's exactly how we felt at the time: we were disjointed, and I think the resentment we felt towards each other was relentless."
On politics:
James Hetfield: "METALLICA has really tried to be non-political, as much as possible. I write about the human side of it all. I really dislike it when celebrities get up on a soapbox and start giving their opinion. It shouldn't be more valid, because you're popular. It gets in the way of the music. I like to just live, and think, and feel. Politics bore me. Politics separate people, especially where we're from. Politics rarely bring people together."
On not being the same people as they were when they recorded "Master of Puppets":
Lars Ulrich: "I'm 44 years old, I've got three kids, I flew in a helicopter on Friday. It's a little difficult to revisit the vibe of 20 years ago when you're living in a two-bedroom suite at Claridge's. I live a very different life to how I lived then."
On the level of expectation METALLICA still command:
Lars Ulrich: "I was thinking the other day about how everyone expects us to continue to release albums that define the genre, to 'save' metal. And that's a lot of fucking pressure, really. Why hasn't anyone dethroned us yet? We support all the great new metal bands, take them under our wing, but people still want us to carry the whole genre on our backs."

Storm & Stress Signs To Let It Burn Records
Let It Burn Records has announced the signing of Storm & Stress. The band's manager Wazskostas Testosteron says: "The band is really happy to be part of a new family, the Let It Burn Records family. In times of pure asociality, where no one can save them from their genetic and mental decay, there was no other way to help Storm & Stress getting their pants back than selling their soul to Let It Burn Records. Chris and Feivel definitely are the best missionaries for the lost souls in Storm & Stress. I just phoned the gaming HQ in Ibbenbüren and got the band's feedback, which was: 'Good.'"
Storm & Stress' "Sin" MCD will be out October 31, 2008. In the meantime, you can check out some of the band's material on their MySpace page.

HydraHead Offers Melvins Update
Apparently some people are offering copies of the Melvins' upcoming album for sale online prematurely. Here's what HydraHead has to say about the situation:
"Some blow hards are selling the Melvins 4xLP on ebay and on Amazon as though they've got the damn things in hand already...oh wait, as though they WILL have the damn things in hand around the 20th of September. The thing is, they won't. And if you purchased from them you should probably get a refund...not only will they not have the stock when they say the will, but they DEFINITELY won't cost $80! They folks are scamming the hell out of some of you, so please don't get fooled..."
"Here are the culprits that we've found so far....if you know who these people are, please let us know (email us: teamleader@hydrahead.com) , we want to out this jerks for the scam artists they are.
Amazon : Username 'Mad_Music'
Ebay : Username 'aroloff351'
Ebay : Username 'dubmaverick'"
"We were going to announce the release dates today for both the box set and the regular version, but these losers ruined it for us...maybe tomorrow then. In the meantime, as you can see from the above pic, we're still assembling....and assembling...and assembling. We've only sent ONE copy out to someone...which means that all 2999 copies are here with us safe and sound. Don't get fooled."
