36 Crazyfists Posts Concert Online

Alaskan metal heavyweights 36 CRAZYFISTS have posted an entire show from their current tour online. The set was filmed at The Lost Horizon in Syracuse NY and can be viewed at The UVTV website.

The concert is also available on iTunes.

36 CRAZYFISTS will film its January 9, 2009 concert in Anchorage, Alaska for a forthcoming DVD. According to Lindow, "the show will be monstrous as the ones in the past have proved to be what dreams are made of. But as the years have gone on, you can imagine the amount of ridiculous footage we have from backstage antics to being a 18-year-old skinny, punk-ass kid getting my long hair chopped off by [Steve] Holt [guitar] in a drunken stupor; it's things like this that will be hilarious to sift through and add to our special features section of the DVD."

36 CRAZYFISTS sold 4,150 copies of "The Tide and its Takers" in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 155 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"The Tide and Its Takers" was released on May 27 via Ferret Music. The CD artwork was designed by Sons of Nero, who has previously worked with such bands as IN FLAMES, EVERY TIME I DIE, FULL BLOWN CHAOS and THE HUMAN ABSTRACT.

Into Eternity Checks In From The Road

Into Eternity's Troy checked in from the road with the following update:

"It's been a pretty crazy week for all of us in the Into Eternity camp. The insanity began when we found out that Tim would not be coming with us on the Iced Earth tour. Our initial reaction was to cancel, for how could we go on without our founding member? After much discussion, we decided that a replacement shredder would be flown in from New York with only five days of practice, that I would try and figure out how to sing and help out on vocals as best as can be, and that Stu would take over the rest of the vocal responsibilities. Easy, right?

"When we started the 14-hour death drive to the first show in Minneapolis, I can't convey how strange the feeling was of leaving the city without Tim - not to mention that this fill-in shredder had only five days to practice the tunes, and that none of us had ever met him. No worries, right? We arrived in Minneapolis a day early and picked up our new shredder from the airport. It turned out his name was Sean Maier. Sean and Justin worked that night and the next day, and crammed as much into his overloaded head as possible. The first show was definitely not perfect, but as a band we could not believe how well Sean played. There definitely was a collective sense of relief within the band after we realized the first show had passed and no trainwrecks occurred.

"The improvement has been steady with every show. It's awesome to watch such an accomplished musician take on such a huge task and do so well. Beyond his playing abilities, Sean has also become a good friend and fit in to this rolling circus easily. We've unofficially coined this tour the 'Hell or High Water Tour,' for the way we look at it, our backs are against the wall and we have nothing to lose and everything to prove. We've now had seven shows together, and it really is going better than expected. We all owe our thanks to Sean for his relentless hard work and focus. The biggest realization, though, is how accepting our fans have been. The unconditional support we've received through such trying times has been amazing. We cannot thank our fans enough for sticking with us and supporting the band unconditionally. Thanks again, and we'll see you all on the road!"

And now, here's an introduction from Sean Maier: More...

Turisas Embarks on Tour, New Video Online

Finnish folk metal masters Turisas has just kicked off in the UK. It will take your beloved, brave warriors first through UK/Ireland in September/October, then the US & Canada in November/December until the final leg of the tour hits mainland Europe in early 2009. The band will be direct support for Dragonforce.

Vocalist Warlord Nygard states: “Fresh from the first show in Oxford, we're sitting here in backstage drinking the first beers! The gig was awesome, and we're really glad to be on tour once again.

"The summer was very busy - after having got used to spending our summers at festivals around Europe for years, we faced an exciting change as this summer with most of the festival shows taking place in our home country Finland. The whole summer was caught on film and the result is our new DVD: the festival performances, the behind the scenes material, and also some interviews and other summer activities around Finland.

"We also made a re-recording of the track 'Battle Metal' and did a video clip to it based on material our fans had sent us. If you want, you can keep on sending us links to what ever material you come up with and we’ll put them up on our site. Or if you want to send us something by snail mail, you can find the postal address on our site.

"The tour with Dragonforce is very extensive, and will keep us busy for the coming months and take us from Britain to North-America and all across Europe. We'll try to post some blog material for you to see on our video blog at www.royalartistclub.com/turisas, so check it out and come down to the shows!."

The new video for “Battle Metal 2008” has been launched now. It is high time to finally have an official video-clip for this battle hymn which is also a tribute to the band’s dedicated fans (without whom there is obviously no such thing as a crowd favourite). So, watch this now on Youtube.

The audio version of “Battle Metal 2008” will only be available on the limited edition of Turisas first-ever DVD release, “A Finnish Summer With Turisas.” which will be released on the following dates:

Germany / Austria / Switzerland / Benelux / Italy: Friday, October 31, 2008.
UK / France / Greece / Denmark / Norway / rest of Europe: Monday, November 3, 2008.
Spain / Portugal: Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
Sweden / Finland / Hungary: Wednesday, November 5, 2008.

Wolf Posts New Studio Report Online

Swedish heavy metallers Wolf has posted the following recording update online:

"Richard Raptor is done drumming. Well, not for good, just for the album offcourse. He packed up his gear late last night and is now heading off to Thailand for a welldeserved break (on the expense of our record company of course). Not only did he bash out 12 songs, he actually did 13. Not bad for a 25 year old drummer with 3 arms.

"Our producer wizard is staying the night to work his magic with the tracks Raptor laid down so that'll be a hard nights work for him. Well, thats why we pay him the big bucs. Let's just hope that the ghost in the cellar don't get him! More...

Dillinger Escape Plan Writing New Material

Dillinger Escape Plan has posted the following message online:

"Ben Weinman has been holed up like a mad scientist blasting out the furious DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN insanity that will eventually find it’s way onto our next release. When Ben says that the stuff he’s been writing has actually been giving HIM a headache, you know it’s gonna be pretty intense.

"We have no touring plans for the immediate future, but you can be sure that we’ll take a break from writing at around the halfway point and head out for some quick runs, so that we don’t lose our minds(probably too late)."

The follow-up to "The Price of Existence" was recorded once again at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland with producer Zack Ohren.

The "Awaken The Dreamers" track listing is as follows:

2. Black Gold Reign
3. Never...Again
4. The Ones We Left Behind

7. Stabbing To Purge Dissimulation
8. Gagged, Bound, Shelved And Forgotten

10. From So Far Away
11. Misery's Introduction
12. Songs For The Damned

Drummer Matt Kuykendall previously stated about the new album: "We have never been a band to write the same record twice and we have never enjoyed records that are one single and 11 worse versions of the same song. This record is the most diverse thing we have done to date. Every song is different and brings something new to the overall experience of the CD. When you look back to all the classic records of our time, they are full of all kinds of different songs. 'Vulgar Display of Power' just wouldn't be the same without 'This Love' and 'Hollow'. Our record is a breath of fresh air in a scene that is turning stale."

As previously reported, ALL SHALL PERISH will be touring with JOB FOR A COWBOY, HATE ETERNAL, ANIMOSITY and ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY this November/December. Confirmed tour dates so far are as follows: More...

Psyopus Announces New Vocalist, Brian Woodruff

NY grinders, Psyopus, have revealed Brian Woodruff as their newest vocalist.

"Psyopus is long overdue and happy to announce new vocalist Brian Woodruff into the band. If you've seen Psyopus at all since the beginning of our Grinding Into Cataclysm tour that began in August, you may have noticed the new face on the stage. Well, Here is the explanation. After Harrison Christie's announced replacement, Matt Duckbirth, flaked out shortly after our press release of his joining the band, we replaced him with Brian. Brian was known as the vocalist from the Binghamton/Rochester, NY band As This Body, I Exist. We worked with him intensely, brought him into the studio and recorded the new album. This album was recorded with Brian. VERY shortly there after we jumped in the van and headed out for tour with War From a Harlots Mouth, Fuck the Facts and Left to Vanish. Again, after the premature press release that Matt was joining our band, we wanted to make sure that Brian was indeed the kat for the band before we made it "official". We are now here to say that he is indeed the kat for the job. Be prepared for a notch up in the vocal brutality of Psyopus."

Forwardhead Working On New Album

Maryland alternative metal band Forwardhead has been working on material for a new album and issued the following update:

"We have been working on pre-production for the new CD since July. We have written and arranged 11 songs and will begin recording them in early November. Unfortunately we will not be playing many shows during our recording. Be patient....it will be worth the wait. The new stuff is much more technical - along the lines of our first record "Elevate" but is still heavy like "Pieces".....actually heavier (Diezel Amps are amazing). We are truly excited about the new material and hope to have it out to you sometime next Summer. You'll be hearing from us soon."

Oak and Bone, Night Owls Sign To Hex Records

Hex Records will release the debuts from two new Syracuse bands - Oak and Bone and Night Owls - soon after the new year.

Oak and Bone is a younger band whose members have played together in various incarnations over the years, settling on what they have now: dirty hardcore rock with riffs upon riffs, akin to Ebullition style hardcore mixed with some Lords and Queens Of the Stone Age (at least to this guy). They will be recording a 7" at some point before year's end. You can hear a few demo songs here.

Night Owls is also a new band, but between the four members they've put in time with dozens of well-known bands around town. With Night Owls they opt for something a bit off-course from what they're used to and go for punchy rock that brings to mind the songwriting of Hot Snakes, though a bit more on the hardcore side. They will be releasing a CDEP with a handful of new songs as well as their demo (the 7" version with three of the new songs will surface on Barbarossa Records). You can hear one of their demo songs here

Last week (September 26) it was claimed that Plant had agreed to a Led Zeppelin tour.

Exsecratus Vocalist And Guitarist Depart

Finnish metal band Exsecratus, which features in its ranks Jussi Raatikainen (guitar), the older brother of Chldren Of Bodom drummer Jaska, has confirmed the departures of singer Leeni-Maria Hovila and guitarist Tony Hentilä. The group says, "After a long and deep thought, we have decided not to comment these happenings from our point of view at all. Too many things have happened that led to these actions, so we feel best not to say anything so no one gets their feelings hurt. Both of them may tell their side of the stories on their MySpace pages if they want. H.Saari will handle Tony's duties at least for now. But now we are searching for a new vocalist. If you have both the voice and the will to fill the shoes that Leeni-Maria left behind, feel free to contact us at: Singerwanted@Exsecratus (dot) com and send us your demo, picture and some additional info about yourself."
