Seneca Signs To Lifeforce Records

Lifeforce Records has announced the addition of Charlotte, NC's SENECA to their roster.

Formed in 2002, SENECA has been hard at work creating a name for themselves over the past six years. Since the release of their first "Self-Titled" full-length in 2004, the band spent the next few years concentrating primarily on writing new material and building their already solid fan-base through several U.S. tours.

Early – Mid 2009 will see the release of the band's Lifeforce debut and second full-length LP entitled "Reflections." Mixed, mastered, and produced by genre stalwart Jaime King (Between the Buried and Me, Glass Casket, Beneath the Sky), "Reflections" offers a unique blend of lyrical sincerity, sweeping melody, and vicious anger.

As an added bonus for long time fans and new fans alike, there will be a limited edition pressing of "Reflections" that will include a free bonus disc of the band's first 2004 Self-Titled full length record, re-mixed and re-mastered by Jamie King himself.

You can check out a couple tracks from "Reflections" at the band's Myspace page.

Here is the latest upcoming show from the band:

Oct 30 2008 @ Tremont Music Hall - Charlotte, North Carolina

As The Kingdom Falls Posts New Song Online

As The Kingdom Falls has posted a rough mix of a new song online and issued an update on other stuff as well. Here's the update from the band:

"Andrew checking in let you all know whats going on. First off, We've been rough recording some of our songs as you can tell with the new track on our myspace entitled "Permanent Cessation". The bass pedals are unable to be heard very clearly we do know that. Its a rough demo and our actual EP is being recorded this upcoming month.

"Also, it was brought to my attention that one of our very few local venues, the Delaplaine Arts Center, is now no longer doing shows. I thought that was a little odd. So I looked into it a little bit. Apparently it was our fault the venue got shut down. I've heard this from some people and I don't know if this is true or not. I am quite upset at this. If it was shut down due to us being "violent" or using profanity then I apologize. I just think its another way to show that our music scene for Metal in Frederick is dying and or dead. We try to put on house shows and other shows in the area. But anyways, If its true that the Delaplaine did shut down due to our performance I am sorry but that is sad. We will be trying to open our own venue in Frederick sometime, I can;t say how soon but the sooner the better. Also, religion has NOTHING to do with music. Just becuase we aren't Chirstian does not mean we are not nice people.

"Anyhow, new music is coming your way soon. We'll have the EP updated for you all soon. We will be touring at the end of December. Check the dates and help us book any if you can. Thanks a lot!!"

Kataklysm Heading To Mexico After 13 Years

Montreal Canada's KATAKLYSM have confirmed a show in Mexico City, Mexico for January 16, 2009 at the Hard Rock live. The performance marks the long awaited return of KATAKLYSM to Mexico who's last venture there was in 1995.

Commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono:

"I think a lot of bands and friends know about the hard times we went through in Mexico in 1995. The crowds weren't the problem it was the system along with a string of bad luck situations.

"Tough times in those days but after hearing all the great comments from other bands, and the plea from all the crazy fans in Mexico over the last few years, we decided we want to go back. They deserve to see the new KATAKLYSM and the show we give now compared to 13 years ago (it was only our second tour ever!). Plus there's a new generation there that never saw us.

"We are very excited to eat and drink with you and most importantly give you guys the most punishing show you've ever seen. We are also planning more dates in Central and South America soon so stay tuned in!"

Mencea Signs to Indie Recordings

Indie Recordings has announced the signing of Athens, Greece band Menea. Mencea delivers groove oriented, intense modern metal that bends the listener's perception of the various genres of extreme music. "Their music oscillates in between fast, aggressive moods, melodic hooks, and is executed with punishing precision," according to the release. "Big and spacey melodies, over raging riffs and extreme drumming, ear-grinding vocals, and atmospheric passages, demonstrate the band's songwriting skills and technical prowess."

The band's pre-production demos reached the hands of Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames, Soilwork, SYL etc), who instantly expressed his interest in taking up mixing duties on their debut album.

With two upcoming producers in their ranks, Mencea entered 210 Studios in Berlin, Germany, with their own Stamos Koliousis and Vangleis Labrakis taking up engineering and production duties on "Dark Matter, Energy Noir," which was later mixed by Daniel Bergstrand, at Dug Out Studios, in Uppsala, Sweden.

Finally, mastering was done by the legendary mastering engineer, George Marino (Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, etc), at Sterling Sound Studios in New York.

The album will come with a free bonus DVD with their amazing live-show from K17 in Berlin at the INDIE RECORDINGS LABELNIGHT during POPKOMM 2008.

Queensryche Announces New Album Title

Progressive rockers Queensryche has announced that brand new studio album will be entitled "American Soldier" and that it finds the band once again exploring the realms of a concept album.

"Queensrÿche has always had incredible support from members of the Armed Services," says Tate. "It seems like after every show, I'd end up speaking with a fan that was or had been involved with the military. The more and more I began to hear their accounts and feelings, the more I really felt a conviction to tell their story. Over the last two years, I've conducted dozens of one-on-one interviews with veterans of many different American wars. I listened to their amazing and moving recounts and did my best to examine war through their eyes."
