Extreme metallers Brujeria, whose current touring lineup includes Carcass frontman Jeff Walker (a.k.a. El Cynico) on bass, ex-Cradle Of Filth drummer Adrian Erdlandsson (a.k.a. El Podrido), and Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury (a.k.a. Hongo) on guitar, will embark on the "No Acceptan Imitaciones Tour 2008" in December.
The confirmed Brujeria tour dates are as follows:
11/28 - 3 Kings - Denver, CO
11/29 - House Of Blues - Los Angeles, CA
12/02 - Sunshine Theater - Albuqerque, NM
12/03 - Club 101 - El Paso, TX
12/04 - El Rey - McAllen, TX
12/05 - Riverside Multiplex - Victoria, TX
12/06 - Red 7 - Austin, TX
12/07 - Ridglea Theater - Dallas, TX
Rumor has it that Brujeria has been working on a new record to be released next year. The band's most recent studio album, 2000's "Brujerizmo," was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2000 Latin Grammy Awards, but ended up being its last recorded with the two original members, Asesino and Hongo Jr., who both left in 2004.
NOVA EXPRESS, the recently announced noise/darkwave/ambient project set up by SKITLIV front man Maniac (ex-MAYHEM), has undergone a name change. The band, comprising Maniac himself on vocals and guitars, GALLHAMMER's Vivian Slaughter on bass, sax and backing vocals, and SKITLIV guitarist Ingvar on guitars, will now be called SEHNSUCHT.
Commenting on the name change, Maniac's manager said "As the song writing progressed, the name NOVA EXPRESS didn't quite seem to fit the atmosphere Maniac and Ingvar were creating, so really it was a case of finding one that better suited what everyone in the band were setting out to ultimately achieve. The word SEHNSUCHT seemed much more appropriate and we decided to go ahead and make the change now, rather than wait until we get further down the road, when a name change would become more complicated."
The band is already signed to the UK's Cold Spring label and work on SEHNSUCHT's first album, which has a working title of "Narrow Birth", is expected to be completed at the end of this year.
Maniac will also shortly be completing work on the first SKITLIV album "Glem Aldri Korset." Aside from Ingvar, the doom/black/noise project includes SHINING's Niklas Kvarforth on guitars and sculptor Spacebrain on bass. The difference between the two bands was recently described by Maniac's manager: "Where SKITLIV is very much Maniac's unpredictable offspring, the band is all about extremes and expecting the unexpected, SEHNSUCHT, on the other hand, is its more thoughtful, introspective, sibling."
A track by SEHNSUCHT can be heard on the band's official MySpace page. "Immaculate Fix," which includes eerie backing vocals by CURRENT 93's David Tibet, is un-mixed and un-mastered and is still missing Vivian Slaughter's input.
Not content with just selling Kiss branded cycling shorts, Frisbees and red wine, the band have added Vans Sk8-Hi shoes to their online shop.
The shoes feature all four members (two faces per shoe), as seen on the cover art of four albums they released in September 1978.
According to Vans, the shoes are constructed with black canvas and suede uppers.
To celebrate their long standing friendship, Disfear and Doomriders have paired up to release a brand new limited split 7" EP, a joint effort between Disfear's own self ran label, Disfear Records (European territories) and Doomriders' label home, Deathwish (all other territories).
With Doomriders, we get a glimpse into their progression since "Black Thunder" in the soon to be classic, "Crooked Path," which is "easily one of their best songs" according to the announcement.
On the other side, Disfear unleashes the hook laden "Fear And Trembling," their first effort since their classic "Live The Storm" album was released by their current label home, Relapse Records.
A special Disfear Records' "Tour Edition" of this release will be available directly from the bands on their upcoming European tour, while the Deathwish version will be available for Pre-order very soon.

Fight Everyone has decided to call it quits as a band. You can read the official statement from vocalist Mikee below:
"So the time has come to pull the plug on Fight Everyone. We feel as a band that we lost ourselves on what it means to play for the love of hardcore. And that this band can't properly accomplish what we want to do. We're extremely sorry if we've let people down with the news, but don't let your guard down, because we can guarantee that a new project will come out of the ashes. We have some last few shows to play before we bury the band. Come out and support us one last time. Thanks to all of those who have supported us throughout the life of this band. You've made us proud to be part of the hardcore family, and to mention, proud to be straight edge. -Mike D. xFEx"
Catalepsy recently added a second vocalist, Rob Conover to their line-up. The band comments: "Our album was tracked with a high and low scream layered throughout most of the abum and we feel like we could never quite achieve that sound live, so we added a second vocalist and it sounds devastating!"
Meanwhile, the band also recently parted ways with guitar player Matt Sutton. "We felt like things just weren't working out but we wish him the best of luck in whatever future endeavors he has. We have a friend, Justin Haile, filling in on third guitar for this upcoming tour! So come to our shows and say whats up!"
Frontiers Records has announced the signing of ECLIPTICA for the release of their debut album "Impetus" on December 5, 2008.
ECLIPTICA is a heavy metal band from Austria founded by guitarist Markus Winkler in 2005. He put together a line-up with six members in total, together with the other guitar player Bernie Scholz, Thomas Tieber and Elisabeth Fangmeyer on vocals, plus Florian Thür and Roman Klomfar on bass and drums respectively.
ECLIPTICA soon started to write songs and in April 2007 released their critically acclaimed first EP, "The Awakening" in front of 500 people at Planet Music Vienna. During the promotion for the Ep, ECLIPTICA won the "Metal Battle Austria 2007" contest and played a live set at the world famous WACKEN OPEN AIR in Germany, not forgetting that they have also landed a support slot for the major US prog metal gods SYMPHONY X.
In January 2008 the band entered the Hinterhof Studios in Vienna to record their first full length album "Impetus," which is now being released on the international markets by Frontiers Records.
The music of ECLIPTICA is defined in their musical roots: blending the traditional heavy metal of the 80's together with intricate rhythms and progressive elements from all decades. The songwriting however is very personal and original, thus making them instantly recognizable thanks to the use of two vocalists and to the classical music elements that are incorporated in their songs.
The "Impetus" tracklisting includes: Impetus, My Paradise (mp3), Land of Silence (mp3), Carry On (mp3), Twilight Hall, Turn Away, Old Man’s Memories mp3), Watching You, Jester in the Ballroom, Black Swan.
Guitarist J-V Hintikka of the Finnish melodic metallers Machine Men has issued the following update:
"It's been a long time since the last happening from us. Now it's time for few updates.
"As some of you might have noticed, we haven't been really busy this year, or so it may seem. Of course, a few shows here and there but nothing else. But behind the scenes something is going on all the time.
"Early this year we decided to take a little pause which was actually six months long. During this time some of us took their time and wrote new material. After the break, we did few shows and festivals here and there. Too quiet, if you ask me, but the new material takes time and we're taking it now.
"At the moment there are many raw versions, allmost for a whole album. So far we have rehearsed four new songs. They sound really amazing! Yep, I know it's a cliché to say, but no can do if you really believe so! The songs are more melodic but still energetic metal, they're more diverse than on previous albums. But more on that later.
"We are starting a new diary. We'll try to write what happens behind the scenes, at the rehearsing room, what the new songs will be like and maybe something else if it feels so."

Ensiferum bassist Sami Hinkka has checked in with this latest road report:
"Damn I'm angry (with) myself, I was sleeping while we drove to San Francisco and I missed Alcatraz prison.
"We cant get our travel guitars to stay in tune. Damn. We change strings tomorrow and hopefully that will do the trick.
"Today's stage was very small, and we had to put drums behind me so I didn't have room to move at all. Gig was awesome! Special thanks to front row singers! Hottest show so far and of course there is no shower.
"During our gig it started to rain. C'mon! Rain in California?" More...

Tunisian Progressive Metal band Myrath have announced today that their position on the line-up for this years ProgPower Europe show has been forfeited. The ProgPower Europe Organizers have released the following statement:
"Well, as surprised as you probably are, yesterday we received a cancellation from Myrath. We were completely surprised, everything was arranged as we thought. Let’s keep it to unforseen circumstances that the band forced them to cancel their appearance at ProgPower Europe.
"Anyway, we immediately contacted The Aurora Project, the band that opened ProgPower Europe a few years ago and we are glad they have accepted our invitation. We knew that some of the members would have been here as visitors, but now they will enter the stage once more.
"With a new album coming, this will be a perfect chance to hear some of the new stuff. The band will play right before the diner break, and Suspyre will now play after the break".

This will not be the first time that Viking metallers HELHEIM join forces with avant-garde metallers, and Dark Essence Records stable mates, VULTURE INDUSTRIES to tour. Commented HELHEIM frontman and bass player V'gandr, "We have all known each other for far too long, and the last couple of tours we did together was fun to do, to put it mildly. It helps to know who you are dealing with — there's nothing worse than touring with someone you don't get on with, and we can always be sure that there will be plenty of laughs and beer flowing on the way with the VULTURE INDUSTRIES guys."
HELHEIM recently caused a sensation in Norway when it launched its "Kaoskult" album in front of an audience of young children in a kindergarten.
Santa Cruz, California's Arsonists Get All The Girls is currently in search of a full-time keyboardist. Behemoth has just officially confirmed dates for their first ever tour of Asia starting later this month.
Behemoth's mainman Nergal gave us his thoughts on this exciting news, "It's historical and we're totally psyched! We've pushed for this tour to happen for years. In fact, it was pretty frustrating seeing all those bands playing in Japan, one of the most exotic markets on the metal globe. It's even more thrilling to see China, Taiwan and Thailand in this schedule too. Seems like after completing these shows we'll have THE WHOLE metal world covered and we can officially close the promotional cycle for "The Apostasy."
The tour dates are as follows:
29.10 - Tokyo (Japan) "Music Exchange"
31.10 - Beijing (China) "MAO Livehouse"
01.11 - Taipei city (Taiwan) "VU Live House"
05.11 - Bangkok (Thailand) "Studio 125"
Scars on Broadway mainman Daron Malakian has issued a response to the criticism regarding his recent tour cancellation:
"I've read many of your postings and I owe it to all of you to respond:
"I understand all of your frustration and anger, and I never meant to let any of you down. Your support for Scars has been so important to me and the band. I would never cancel a tour unless I had real reasons and personal things that require my undivided attention. The music of Scars will live on, but now is a time when aspects of my life need to be tended to. I hope all of you can understand."
Australian progressive technical death metal unit ALARUM will enter the studio immediately after their showcase at ProgPower 2008 to record their third album. The album will be entitled "Natural Causes" and is slated for release in 2009 through Candlelight/Willowtip.
