Hauk Readies New EP
The heathen metal band HAUK (USA) will release their new EP "To Hear the Trumpets Call" on September 19, 2008.
The EP contains 2 brand new songs, a re-recorded metal version of the classic "Lamentation," and a remix of "Raven Wings."
Front man Hauk commented: "This EP for me is really a perfect combination of music and Heathen spirituality. Every song on this album has Heathen Anthem written all over it- they are unrestrained songs about the impending victory of the Gods and their people at Ragnarok. Nothing was held back recording this one- we didn't think a minute about reviews or record labels or anything while we were recording. We just went into the studio and made the music we wanted to make, channeled the Gods and let the full fury of the North Wind rip through our songs. The arrangements were stripped down, sticking with just the live band- no extra fiddles or flutes, just pure guitars, drums, and keyboards. In the end, what we've accomplished is the soundtrack to Ragnarok, a call to arms for all Heathens- No Mercy For the Slain, not now, not ever."
Here is the tracklisting for "To Hear The Trumpets Call":
1. To Hear the Trumpets Call
2. Love Song 4 (Burn Rome)
3. Lamentation
4. Raven Wings (Thrashing Ravens Remix)
The title track can be listened to for streaming at the band's MySpace page.

Mushroomhead DVD And New Album On The Way
It took almost three years to arrive, but the new Mushroomhead DVD is almost here. The band will release “Volume 2,” the follow-up to 2005’s “Volume 1,” on October 28 on Filthy hands/Megaforce Records.
The disc features two and a half hours of content, including live footage from the three-year “Savior Sorrow” tour; music videos including “1200,” “Simple Survival” and the brand new video “Save Us”; video commentary and behind the scenes footage.
“Most bands release DVDs that don’t have anything but live or backstage footage,” says sampler Stitch. “Keeping the spirit of the old Pantera home videos, we always try to have more of the behind the scenes antics and drama that shows the human side of Mushroomhead and what goes on when we are not onstage. Everything about this home video is personal and we filmed and edited all of the content. If you own Volume 1 then Volume 2 will blow your f—ing mind.”
To support the DVD, Mushroomhead will hit the road with The Autumn Offering, XFactor1 and Human Factors Lab. Dates start October 3 in Findlay, Ohio and run through November 2 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After the tour, Mushroomhead will return to the studio to start recording their next album. The disc is scheduled for release in spring 2009.
After about a month in the studio, Mushroomhead will take a break to head out on tour with Brujeria, the ramshackle death metal band reputed to be composed of Mexican outlaws and murderers, but which is actually an underground supergroup that reportedly includes Carcass bassist Jeff Walker, Napalm death bassist Shane Embury (on guitar), Witchery guitarist Patrik Jensen and At the Gates drummer Adrian Erlandsson. Those dates kick off November 29 in Los Angeles and run through December 7 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Exit To Eternity To Play Final Show
Guitarist Robert Tighe of New York thrashers, Exit To Eternity, has issued the following message regarding their decision to lay the band to rest on their Myspace Page:
"It is sad to say, but after 10 years as a band, the show at the Ace of Clubs on this Saturday, September 20th will be Exit to Eternity's final performance. Not just for the year, but forever. We have finally decided to put this band to rest."
"Words cannot begin to describe how incredible this journey has been. We started this band around the summer of 1998, as a bunch of teenagers wanting to cover our favorite songs by our favorite bands. Playing covers turned into writing original music, and before long we started hitting the local scene. These were the best years of our lives. Being able to open for bands like Testament, Symphony X, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Exodus, Superjoint Ritual, Kreator, Destruction, Biohazard, and Angra, just to name a few, were some of the most incredible experiences imaginable." Caliban Begins Pre-production On New Album
German metallers, Caliban, issue the following update:
"We are currently in the pre-production-state and full speed working to move into the studio in a couple of weeks and record the successor of The Awakening. Be curious for the new songs, they're going to turn out a lot more somber compared to the last album! And that won't mean the only improvement, for the upcoming record we are in the middle of negotiations with a few labels! We were able to get an idea of the offers we received so far, and we already picked a favourite. The release date for the finished disk is going to be in Spring 2009, around March/April. The visual equivalent to the songs will be provided by Basti Basti of Callejon, who is going to add some dark touch to the album, he is responsible for the artwork of Heaven Shall Burn and War From a Harlots Mouth, just to name some."
