Noism's First Full-Length Album Sees Release

Crucial Blast is releasing the first official CD release from the Japanese glitch/shred duo Noism, which follows up their appearance on the Relapse Records compilation Drummachinegun from 2006.

Formed by guitarist Yoshiro Hamazaki and programmer Tomoyuki Akiyama in 1999 in Tokyo, Noism focuses on ridiculously complex and spastic death/grind instrumentals using programmed drums that are cut up and spliced back together into impossible rhythms, a million brain-melting riffs and dissonant shredding, all of which is chopped up and processed into abstract death blasts that defy physics. This twelve-song, twenty-one minute disc features a unique, glitched-out chop shop of Planet Mu-esque beats delivered at truly meth'd levels of chaos and fused with sweeping technical death metal guitar insanity. This one is recommended for those fans of extreme, way-out avant-guitar spazz and absurdly technical deathgrind.

"±" hit stores on August 26, 2008 via Crucial Blast Records.

Black Elk Finishes New Album

Black Elk has just wrapped up their new album, "Always A Six, Never A Nine," scheduled to come out on October 21st.

"Always A Six, Never A Nine" is the second album and the follow up to the 2006 self-titled debut from Portland, OR aggro wreckers Black Elk, whose psychotic brand of crushing, noise-rock influenced heaviosity is a return to the unhinged underground rock force of bands like Jesus Lizard, Melvins, Black Flag and Hammerhead. This new album features ten songs of seething weirdness, with the dissonant, crushing riffage, lunging rhythmic push and awesome freaked out, Yow-esque vocals of singer Tom Glose that made their debut a fave among anyone who remembered the days when Amphetamine Reptile ruled the underground rock scene, but with some interesting new elements (bleak guitar ambience, piano, etc.) that add new shadows to Black Elk's ferocious sound.

"Always A Six, Never A Nine" will be coming out through Crucial Blast on October 21st and will be available as both a CD in deluxe gatefold packaging and digital download, with a West Coast tour to coincide with the release.

The Romance Calls It Quits

Swedish hardcore band The Romance has officially called it quits. Here's a message from the band:

"The Romance is officially no longer a band. After been on hiatus for well over three months now, we have decided to call it a day. It has been a wonderful ride, and we've made shitload of great memories to be put in our memorial books, and probably some bad too. You'll find this page up for a couple more weeks, so if you still haven't downloaded our record (it's free!) then this is your last chance.

"We'd like to thank André & Anchors Aweigh Records for the faith he put it us, Jealous for taking us on for a really pleasant journey 'round the UK, Dead Swans for madness and scandinavian rage, all our friends, the linköping scene for endless times of support and acceptance.

"Thank you all for these past 5 years. You'll be hearing more from us soon... in the meantime, go check out LIONS DEN, johan & goran's other band."

(Editor's note, the free album download from their MySpace page was not working for me at the time of this posting.)

Van Halen Angry With John McCain

TMZ.com reports that John McCain used a VAN HALEN song during his big speech earlier today and the band wants to make to make one thing clear — they're not running with McCain.

VAN HALEN management told TMZ.com that the band had no idea McCain was planning on using "Right Now" during his big entrance in Ohio. "Permission was not sought or granted nor would it have been given," the management said.

George W. Bush reportedly used the same song during a bunch of his campaign speeches back in 2004, but sources close to the band tell TMZ.com, "They're [the bandmembers] not political, they're just rock and roll."

This will be a three band bill with the Tygers Of Pan Tang as headliners and the fantastic Steve Grimmett of GRIM REAPER/ONSLAUGHT as Special Guest. The main tour support will be CRIMES OF PASSION, who are one of the best new UK Rock bands around so it promises to be a great night of music. Tickets will be very reasonably priced at all venues as we wanted to make this tour great value for money especially due to the economic climate in the UK at the moment. Please check out the individual venues for further details which are listed on MySpace and the website www.tygersofpantang.com.

We hope to see you all on this tour so we could thank you for your support of the Tygers during 2008. The sales of Animal Instinct have passed our own expectations and with the help of Geoff Bartons quote and 8/10 review in Classic Rock magazine we have a lot of older fans returning. Please spread the word and bring along your friends, and be part of the Tygers 2008.
