Van Halen Angry With John McCain

TMZ.com reports that John McCain used a VAN HALEN song during his big speech earlier today and the band wants to make to make one thing clear — they're not running with McCain.

VAN HALEN management told TMZ.com that the band had no idea McCain was planning on using "Right Now" during his big entrance in Ohio. "Permission was not sought or granted nor would it have been given," the management said.

George W. Bush reportedly used the same song during a bunch of his campaign speeches back in 2004, but sources close to the band tell TMZ.com, "They're [the bandmembers] not political, they're just rock and roll."

This bothers me, political figures just never learn their lesson...they pull something like that off and bands get angry. (if my memory serves me well this isn't the first time this has happened but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) Sh!tty people need to stick to using sh!tty music, not rock. I'm glad Van Halen is mad at 'em :)

I don't think that it's the party per se that determines wether or not America does well. I think that its the individual that determins that. Example would be that in Washigton state we have a Democrat for a Senetor. She (Christien Gregor) is as I and many other's call her, "The Wicked witch of the West," as she has made many rediculs laws that by in large are un-constitutional, and do nothing to better the state.

In theory ALL forms of government work. In practice ALL forms of government fail. The only ones who have something smart going for them are IMO the socialized democracies who have socialism in business and democracy in government.

Either way, the difference between McCain using this song and playing music at parties would be the public use of it and the use of it for a certain goal/image. Parties are in technicality, private, and their goal is. . .usually. . .to get trashed.

Heh. I'm with bbristowe and FocusShift on the political thing. If you want to know why Communism failed though, read some Milan Kundera. He's from the Czech Republic, lived through the Communism era, and is hailed as one of the most insightful political satirists ever. This guy has first-hand experience of why it didn't work out. His first book, 'The Joke,' was actually banned in his home country during the Communist era.

Communism/Socialism was a brilliant idea that failed because of the perpetrators of the idea. Personally, I'm all for Capitalism and Democracy with a healthy dose of Karma thrown in :P
