Sammy Hagar Speaks On Van Halen-McCain Issue
Former Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar has said the following regarding Presidential candidate John McCain using the Van Halen song "Right Now":
"When I wrote the lyrics to 'Right Now' I intended them to inspire people to not sit around and wait for something they believed in but to go out and get it ' to make a change however they needed to," he said in a statement. "Whether it was McCain who used the song or if Obama had chosen to use the song, with the current political climate, the lyrics still have the same meaning, and we all need to do something to make a difference, every action counts. In fact, I still feel so strongly about this that I wrote a new song "Cosmic Universal Fashion" with a young Iraqi musician in an attempt to motivate a new generation to the same affect. I am pleased to be associated with the lyrics to my original song and the new one in hopes that both will make people move to make a difference."

Dark Funeral Posts Update From The Studio
Dark Funeral guitarist Lord Ahriman has posted the following studio update:
"I’m sorry I didn’t have time to write you an update last weekend. As much as I tried I had to face the fact that time was just not enough.
"Anyway, we’re now two weeks into the pre-production! And even though we’re moving forward with small steps, we’re at least making progress. And that what’s the most important at this stage I think. Our original plan was to be done with the pre-production within three-four weeks, but I have to be honest with myself, the band and you of course. That won’t just happen. So let’s put aside a definite date for now. And let us just focus on writing and working on the new material until we feel that we done, and totally satisfied, whenever now that’ll be!? Metal Masters Enlighten Chicago
In what will likely go down as arguably the best metal tour of the summer, The Metal Masters Tour has been treating fans with four legendary metal bands which include two of the first metal bands ever in Judas Priest and Heaven and Hell, a thrash pioneer in Testament, and Motorhead. This concert lineup is the equivalent to a festival main stage without having to sit through any dismal filler acts or bands that leave fans questioning their metal legitimacy for deserving to be on such a tour.
Being an Iowa resident, I rarely see any classic or larger metal bands roll through, so to see four bands that will likely not stop here again this year, on one bill, was incentive enough for me to make the trip to Chicago. The concert was held on August 19, 2008 at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater (formerly the Tweeter Center). It was also a chance for me to see two of my personal favorite bands in Judas Priest and Testament that I longed to see at least once before they retire, can’t perform live anymore or I die. More...

Century Media Celebrates 20th Anniversary
2008 has become an extremely exciting year in the history of Century Media Records, one of the world's most respected independent homes for heavy music, as the label is celebrating its 20th anniversary!
The company's Anniversary year started off with an extremely successful, first-ever yard sale/party at the Century Media office in Dortmund (Germany) in June, where several hundred guests partied out on exclusive live shows by Angel Dust and Turisas. A video with impressions from the event can be seen at this location. A photo gallery for this event can be viewed here.
To further celebrate this anniversary Century Media Records will release the very special 2CD compilation "Covering 20 Years Of Extremes" on September 15th in Europe and on October 14th in North America. The various artists covers-release includes 32 mostly exclusive recordings and will be available in stores for the price of one CD. Sticking to the "keep it in the family" slogan, CM approached their artists about covering songs from other acts within the label's repertoire and the response from the musicians was overwhelming.
Some choices were obvious and homages to the bands that influenced them, others were inspired picks. This combination ended up leading to a heavily entertaining and truly special final result across all sub-genres of heavy music.

Crown the Lost Still Seeking A Drummer
Crown the Lost is still seeking a drummer and has issued the following update on that topic and more:
"Our drummer search is ongoing, as we have several interested applicants entering the vaunted CTL drummer tryout phase. Unfortunately, drummers don't grow on trees here in Pittsburgh, or we'd already be playing shows and being more active on the live front than we currently are. Alas, 'tis not the case, so our hunt continues.
"As for the prospective release of Blind Faith Loyalty, we are oh-so close to inking a worldwide deal that will allow for the album to released in the spring of 2009. Hopefully it will be worth the wait. If not, Renaldi will personally come to your door with a refund coupon along with the cheapest '40 he could scrounge up.
"More to come. Perhaps a surprise or two..."
