Psycroptic Posts New Song Online

Tasmanian tech-death masters, PSYCROPTIC, have uploaded a brand new track and cover art to the bands Myspace page. The song “Immortal Army of One” was taken from “Ob(Servant),” the band’s first album for Nuclear Blast Records and fourth album overall. “Ob(Servant)” will be released on October 14th in North America.

Drummer Dave Haley commented:

“'Immortal Army of One' is one of my personal favorites on “Ob(servant)”. The riffs on it are catchy as hell and stick in your head, and it is a very brutal song. Yet, it has a lot of dynamics throughout and is quite technical. It’s very PSYCROPTIC sounding, yet there are a lot of new sounds and ideas introduced. Just an all round cool track both to listen to and play.

"Lyrically, the song explores the the idea of a suicidal god like being – one who has omnipotence yet wants to relinquish it. A twisted thought - a being who has the choice to do anything desired, except giving up such a power; all powerful yet powerless at the same time.”

“Ob(Servant)” was mixed and mastered by former MACHINE HEAD and SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader (DIVINE HERESY, GOJIRA) and recorded once again by guitarist Joe Haley.

PSYCROPTIC recently returned home after a very successful US debut on this years Summer Slaughter tour, which included THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, KATAKLYSM, CRYPTOPSY, THE FACELESS, DESPISED ICON, ABORTED and WHITECHAPEL.

Bolt Thrower Checks In

UK extreme metal legends Bolt Thrower have posted the following update:

"We'd like to thank everyone who came to Atak, Party.San and Hof te Lo. Although it was only three shows it felt like a whole tour, as we covered a whole range of venues & crowds in that short time, and had our fair share of problems that included five breakdowns on three different (replacement) buses.

"The Atak show was a hot, sweaty, crazy one and we wouldn't want it any other way, it was great to see old friends and familiar faces again. The fact that it was the last time anyone would ever play there was pretty sad, but it was great to celebrate the club's history along with the 275 special guests. The Atak crew were all amazing - (thanks a lot for everything) they made the night really special. Outside the venue was a red carpet with a 'Welcome home Bolt Thrower' banner. However cool you try to be, you can't help but be chuffed with that! More...

Enslaved Signs To Nuclear Blast Records

“The U.S. and Canada have become increasingly important territories for ENSLAVED with their increasing sales and feedback from the fans and the scene both within and outside hard-line metal. The two tours we did in 2007 proved our live show qualities to the scene, and the scene proved its dedication to us. We are therefore extremely happy to be working with Nuclear Blast – a formidable force in the record industry. Having met members of the U.S. staff on several occasions, we know that their dedication and professionalism will take ENSLAVED a great step further.

Perhaps driven insane by an eight-year wait for new material, die-hard AC/DC fans have sunk to a hilarious new low in rock and roll fandom.
In the same week that songs from U2's upcoming album were leaked online, fans of the Australian heavy metal pioneers have given the world a preview of AC/DC's new single 'Rock N Roll Train' – played on air guitar.

Fans who attended a film clip shoot in London last week were among the first in the world to hear the new song and, instead of leaking an unauthorised recording, have set about recreating it themselves on YouTube. More...

Forbidden Begins Writing New Material

Forbidden guitarist Craig Locicero has posted the following lengthy update:

"It's time for a recap and update for what's on tap with FORBIDDEN.

"First of all, we want to let everyone that went to our shows in Europe and gave of all of that love: thank you! That was a wonderful experience for everyone in the band. It's a helluva honor to get that kind of response after going our separate ways in '97. People went apeshit crazy at the festivals and our club gigs and every night was a highlight reel. Plus we got a lot of good video. The Dynamo club was one of the craziest gigs, but it's unfair to say what was the best, because all of the clubs and the people treated us so well every night! Personally, I thought I would never go backwards and play with FORBIDDEN again. Well, the old cliché 'never say never' pops in my head a lot now. I was mistaken and now we're happy we put forth the effort. We have a better grip on where we stand and how to prepare for next time. There will be a next time. More...

Ministry Mainman To Stick With Revolting Cocks

Ministry/Revolting Cocks mainman Al Jourgensen has posted the following message online regarding the new Revolting Cocks album, "Sex-O Olympic-O":

“Much like Menudo does or the Blue Man Group, I was going to hand the band over to this younger generation of RevCo’s, to Sin [Quirin/guitars], Josh [Bradford/vocals] and Clayton [Worbeck/keyboards], kind of franchise it out. I think that these three knuckleheads capture the true essence and spirit of being ‘a Revolting Cock,’ if you will. But, this album turned out so damned good, I think I’m going to stick around for a while.”

“This is the best RevCo album I’ve ever done,” Al continued. “As a matter of fact, I think this is the best album - including Ministry, Pailhead, Lard - anything I’ve ever done, period. Production-wise, song-wise, I’m really, really happy with this record. It’s the first CD I’ve ever gotten back from the mastering studio that I didn’t have anything to bitch about. No complaints. I listened to the whole thing and just went, ‘OK, that’s a wrap. Let’s go’!”

The album is scheduled for a September 13th release.
