Korn Added to Sunset Strip Music Festival Lineup

The second annual SUNSET STRIP MUSIC FESTIVAL (SSMF)--set for September 10-12, 2009--has announced the addition of KORN to the line-up for their first Los Angeles performance in two years. Fresh off their sold out European tour, the band will join CHRIS CORNELL as co-headliner for the Saturday, September 12 street festival where for the first time The Sunset Strip (between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Blvd.) will be closed to host two concert stages and is expected to draw 10,000 people.

"Although we're all from Bakersfield, the Sunset Strip is really where it all came together for Korn. It's where we had our first breakthrough gigs," states KORN frontman Jonathan Davis. "We are really excited to be the first to headline a Festival right on the Sunset Strip and we intend on making it something fans remember for a long time!"

West Hollywood's Sunset Strip has birthed countless music and entertainment careers, and it continues to blaze its own path as leading destination with a vibrant and entertaining landscape. The Strip's six signature music venues the Cat Club, House of Blues, Key Club, The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go will host dozens of various musical acts (exact venue schedules to be announced soon) in addition to the aforementioned Strip street closure on the closing day of the festival. A wide variety of ticket options are on sale via Ticketmaster.

Meanwhile, the new Andaz West Hollywood has signed on to be the host hotel for the SSMF. Chthonic Comments On Music Video Shoot

Chthonic recently posted a new music video online for the track "49 Theurgy Chains," which can be viewed below. Doris Yeh of Chthonic issued the following statement about the video shoot:

"The concept we wanted to portray is the philosophy of Oriental Hell. Hundreds of levels of different hell have different sentences. ’Mirror of Retribution’ is the first thing you will meet when you fall into the Hell. Through the mirror, you see all the bad things you've done in your lifetime. Each spirit has to face the ‘Mirror of Retribution’ then the ghost king will send everyone to the specific level of hell that they deserved.

"But it's not good enough to only describe the Hell, so, we found the crossover between Taiwan and Hell, that's ‘228 Massacre’ in our history. We created a main character in our story named ‘Tsing-guan’, who is the medium (psychic) in the temple. The year was 1947, and the biggest massacre launched by the Chinese Army in Taiwan’s history had occurred. The main character tried to use his ability to go to Hell, stealing the Book of Life and Death, and killing the tyrant of the Chinese Army.

"ChthoniC decided to use ‘49 Theurgy Chains’ to be our video because the song can describe the struggle when the main character faced suicide himself, like the fate that he can’t refuse. He knows that he may fail, but he still needs to do try. Just like the fate that was met by all of the Taiwanese in 1947.

"We chose a famous sea side of Taiwan to shoot this video. The landscape is both beach and rocky coast in the same place. We shot the video all day from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. The wind was so strong, so the shooting effect was very good, but the wind also blew away our tents, everybody was getting sunburned and covered in bruises for over 12 hours staying under such strong sunlight and powerful winds. Marilyn Manson Threatens To Rape BDM Vocalist

Chart Attack has an interesting piece that tells about an interaction at a Marilyn Manson autograph session.

"Manson was signing autographs at a meet-and-greet event in Florida recently when Black Dahlia Murder frontman Trevor Strnad reportedly came up to him and yelled, 'Welcome to the freak show!' according to a BANG! Showbiz article printed in the New Zealand Herald.

"The article reports Manson retaliated by writing 'I hate those fucks' on the tablecloth in front of a fan before he got up and said he wanted to "rape" Strnad's face and took a swing at him. Security intervened and no one was hurt."

UPDATE: Lambgoat announced that they emailed BDM and were told that this story is bogus, and that a different member of the band actually said something. Good story all the same, though.
