"So in my downtime I have been writing a LOT of music. Some new Nightshade stuff, and some stuff for a solo album. I am also looking for other musicians to collaborate with for this solo project. I am basically playing everything myself and then will invite some guests for guitar leads, vocals, drum parts and other things.
"I am planning on setting up a demo studio at my new house and am starting to buy some gear. I still have more to buy, but I figure by mid September I should be ready to record some solo material. More...

White Wizzard To play New York City Show

WHITE WIZZARD bassist, Jon Leon says, "WHITE WIZZARD is totally pumped to go to New York and play. RAVEN and MANOWAR are classic bands and I expect this to be a blast. New York metal fans are some of the best so I am sure there will be a ton of energy."
Silent Civilian Begins Recording New Album
Silent Civilian, the band led by Spineshank vocalist Jonny Santos, has begun recording their second studio album, which is expected to be released next year through Century Media Records.
Santos explains: "Getting back into the studio to record the 2nd Silent Civilian record is very exciting. I felt that the first record was a success and feel very fortunate to be able to do it again. It has been a few years of hard touring and after a much needed vacation the batteries are charged and we are back in full force. Tracking a record like this is not an easy task and I will never get used to the endless hours of what goes into making one, but the magic that happens during the process is amazing. I believe that as much as you prepare for a record, a good 50% of what makes that record so special, happens in the studio. Silent Civilian has finally come of age in my eyes, stepping out from behind the shadow of my other band Spineshank. It is now perceived as its own entity by our fans and not seen as merely a ‘side project.’ The delay of this record was also due to my reunion with Spineshank, so needless to say, I have been super busy.
"Musically, this record is very different from the last, but evolution is the key to longevity in my eyes. I believe we are making a record that will retain what is the main essence of SC, but maturing greatly pushing forward. Having another guitar player contribute more to this record as opposed to the last, in which I wrote 90% of the music, is a plus. This record is also much more violent than the last and will be less produced in the sense that I am really trying to capture the elements of a ‘live’ thrash metal band on tape. There is not much room to breathe with this one, and I want to sonically beat the shit out of the listener without losing their interest. Dynamically, it will be a roller coaster of beatings and abuse! Don't get me wrong, we will still have very melodic moments as well, because melody has always been a strong part of metal. I am going with a lot of very traditional thrash metal riffs, because I don't really listen to very many newer bands out of fear that I will be influenced into sounding like the band of the week. I would rather be influenced by the bands that pioneered this genre of music (Testament, Exodus, Kreator, Death Angel (my favorite), Forbidden, etc) I promise that this new Silent Civilian disc is going to rip your fucking face off.
"We also leave on a massive North American headlining run on August 24th, which I can’t wait for. I love touring and it's been a year and a half since we've been on the road. With new bassist Shaun Fieler and guitarist Dave De La Cruz returning to the band, I believe we will have an extremely dynamic and solid live show. Dave is playing better than ever and Shaun is just an amazing musician all around. He is a great singer as well, which is good when it comes to doing harmonies live. We will be hitting every major U.S. market, so head over to our MySpace page for dates. As far as setlists are concerned, we will be playing about 4-5 new songs during our set in support of the new release. In the meantime, we have posted demo versions of the new songs on our page for the fans to listen to. We will also be posting video blogs of us in the studio to kind of give the fans an inside look at Silent Civilian and the progression of the record. We look forward to seeing you all soon."

Blaze Bayley Book To Be Released In September
A book which chronicles the life of the Blaze Bayley band will be released next month. It is currently available for pre-order at the bands official website.
At The End Of The Day features the story of ‘Blaze’ Bayley Cooke, following his career as a frontman, from Wolfsbane to Iron Maiden to BLAZE and, ultimately, to the current self-titled Blaze Bayley band. However, this book is not solely about Blaze; rather it tells the story of the entire Blaze Bayley band that is about to begin work on the follow up to their debut album The Man Who Would Not Die. The book traces the history of all the band members, back to their roots in New Zealand, Colombia and…Bristol.
Written by drummer Lawrence ‘Larry’ Paterson, who has previously authored ten books on a completely unrelated subject — Second World War U-boats — this book offers a unique insight into the history of Blaze Bayley, the man and the band, as well as the inner workings and adventures of a band on the road and in the studio. The author takes us from the early beginnings of Wolfsbane in the mid-1980s, through the dizzying heights of touring with Iron Maiden to the triumphs and tragedies that lead right up to 2009, before offering the reader a glimpse into what lies ahead.
Alongside the full and frank contributions from the members of the Blaze Bayley band, the book features new interviews with BLAZE and Wolfsbane members plus exclusive interviews with Janick Gers and Steve Harris of Iron Maiden. Blaze himself explains in detail how he first attained the job with Iron Maiden, the truth about working inside such a renowned and hard-working band, and the events of the meeting at which his tenure fronting Iron Maiden ended. ‘At The End Of The Day’ also contains tour dates, discographies, and extensive black and white and full colour photographs.

Gunfire 76 Streaming New Song Online
Gunfire 76, the new band from Wednesday 13, has issued the following update about their upcoming album and streaming new music online:
"Finished with the recording process of the debut Gunfire 76 cd last week. A lot of people have commented that it didn’t take long. Well – depends on how you look at it. It seems like a while in the making to me. I spent a few months building the songs, so when it came time to record, I was able to go in and get everything done exactly how I wanted it. We did go over on studio time, but that usually happens with every release. The Gunfire project is not something I’m just putting out for fun, not to tour behind or advertise like Bourbon Crow and Weirdo A go Go in the past. This will be a priority and focus for the next little while. I got to hear 2 rough mixes tonight and it sounds so great! Brent (from Bullets and Octane) is doing an amazing job with the songs and bringing ‘em to life.
"Next up for me is building the band. This is the fun part. I already have tour dates booked in the U.S. and U.K., now I just need to find the right group of players. I’m just fronting the group this time so it will be a five piece. I’ve got a few people in mind for the project and prob a few I haven’t even thought of yet, so stay tuned for more on this as it develops.
"We are toying with a few special ideas regarding the release. More on that later, once we see if we can get it all done.
"Make sure to join the Gunfire 76 myspace page. This Wednesday, Aug. 12 we will be making the myspace page private and only friends of the page will be able to hear the first sounds from Gunfire 76. We are going to let you hear a rough mix of the song Casualties & Tragedies."
Gwydion Comments On Tour Cancellation

"It's with great sadness and disappointment that GWYDION has to announce that they have to cancel the Destroying Europe Tour, which would have started at Aug. 14.
"Gwydion had also no other choice than to step away from this badly organized tour by booking agency Metal Maniac from Romania.
"The band's thoughts go to their fans, all of them had been looking forward to meet all fans on tour and give them a great show and canceling so short before the tour starts is a nightmare.
"Needless to say that Gwydion will of course terminate their contract with Metal Maniac Booking Agency and hopes that no other bands have to experience what they had to experience today!!!"
