The Synaptic Dissent Writing New Material
Kentucky's The Synaptic Dissent has issued the following update about writing new material:
"Still at it.Feels like its taken forever to get things into perspective.A few thigs have changed since the last update.Dave,as talented as he is,will not be carrying on in the writing for the upcoming album. He is a great guy,a great drummer and a dedicated UofL fan. But I recently had the pleasure of jamming with my longtime friend Josh Ricci(from Antikythera, check em out and buy the new cd Pantheon.Do it now, do it immediately).
"This was merely meant to be me and him trying to write some material for him to sing and write vocals too.Plus we've always had a great time playing music and write very well together. So beers and jammin, good stuff. Im rambling.
"We started playing and I was messin about with some of the newer stuff I had written for Synaptic and it just worked. Its coming along so well that we may even have a few teaser tracks up before the end of September.Without John Ryans tracks though, cuz he will need a bit more time to tinker with them due to some technical difficulties with his gear, and he just needs to mess with them..
"side note:John also plays a solo piano/ambient track on Antikythera's Pantheon release as well.Communique via Bela Horizonte.go to my top friends, put the arrow on Antikythera, click.its that easy. Im very excited about he new stuff.I feel its the best music I have ever written. The songs have a lotta depth and feeling. More...

Jam Sessions 2 To Be Released This Fall
Ubisoft has revealed plans to release a follow-up to its critically acclaimed Jam Sessions video game with Jam Sessions 2 for the Nintendo DS(TM) and Nintendo DSi(TM) systems. Scheduled for release in Fall 2009 in North America, Jam Sessions 2 is a guitar game developed by Plato that makes improving your guitar skills fun and rewarding.
Each song in the gameplay mode serves a different role in advancing players' guitar skills and songwriting abilities. By progressing through the songbook, players learn techniques that will help them play the guitar and write songs. Armed with their new skills, players can play, create and share their own original music with others.
"Ubisoft is pleased to present players of all ages with a music game that builds on the unique foundation of the first title,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. "In Jam Sessions 2, players can freestyle sections of featured songs and make them their own. With a push of a button, players' created works can be included in the game play and instantly converted into a playable level.”
Gaming Nexus elaborated further:
"Developers at Plato ensure some originality by having players develop actual guitar and songwriting skills (don’t say video games don’t teach kids anything). While the Guitar Hero and RockBand series require some practice to get the hang of the controls, Jam Sessions 2 will expect a little more of their gamers. A pretty elaborate UI setup (strings, a note chart, and guitar chords) in tandem with song editing software give us gamers more opportunity to actually play with the game. After getting through the songbook, newfound musicians can make playable (and shareable) songs instantly. You even have a selection on what electric guitar you want to use.
"After making enough songs to qualify as an album, said musicians can create an artist profile and launch their album, complete with cover art of their choosing."
For more information on Jam Sessions 2, you can visit jamsessions2.com.
