Laethora Issues Update, Posts Two New Songs

LAETHORA, the Swedish death/grind band featuring members of DARK TRANQUILITY and THE PROVENANCE, has just posted two new tracks on their MySpace page.

The band commented:

"We recently did a pre-production demo of some new songs-- nothing fancy, just the old school way with a bunch of microphones in the rehearsal room. Two of the songs are now uploaded to our MySpace page. The first is called 'Uproar' and has been featured earlier on the site in live format. The second one is brand new and is called 'New day.'

"The songwriting continues, and it will be one hell of an album! That we guarantee!"

Listen to the rough demos of "Uproar" and "New Day," which will appear on the band's forthcoming as yet untitled full-length album here

LAETHORA released their debut album, "March of the Parasite," on THE END RECORDS in February of last year.

Daggermouth Singer Issues Update

As you may recall, in February Daggermouth went on a hiatus of sorts as singer Nick Leadlay left the group to seek treatment for anxiety and depression. Now, nearly six months later, Leadlay has issued a statement (which has been truncated) regarding what's transpired since:

"So what the hell happened? To be honest I don't even know. I have been battling with depression/anxiety for over 10 years as I'm sure some people knew just by listening to our records. For some reason I think the pressure of touring/running a band finally caught up to me on that Comeback Kid tour. My body decided it was time to slow down. I had been in and out of hospitals quite a few times in the months leading up to that tour and received basically zero help. Don't believe Michael Moore, the Canadian health care system isn't always perfect by any means. So it was only a matter of time really before this happened.

"I have since moved home [to Ottawa] and I am receiving tons of medical help as well as support from a circle of friends I've known for over 20 years. My family has also helped me stabilize my life as well as give me the gift of my first nephew.

"That being said, the last 3 months have been some of the toughest I've experienced in the past 10 years. I left San Francisco and flew directly home to Ottawa. I haven't been to Vancouver yet and all my belongings are still there. It's been a crazy ride so far. Going from playing shows everyday and meeting so many people. Then a day later being on the other side of the country with nothing is pretty fucked. I basically think about this band every single day and it's hard knowing I just can't do it right now. You can't just eat and breath Daggermouth for 3 years and then flick a switch and forget about it a day later.

"So to kill time I've been playing a lot of guitar and have written a few acoustic songs. Not sure if they will ever see the light of day, but it's fun just to be playing music again even if it is alone in my room."

Anata Parts Ways with Guitarist Andreas Allenmark

Swedish metallers, Anata, have issued the following update on their MySpace page regarding the departure of guitarist Andreas Allenmark:

"Guitarist Andreas Allenmark, member since -97, has decided to leave Anata. According to the band, his primary reason seems to be that he has lost his passion for playing such technical music. At his last meeting with the band, he is said to have uttered things like 'I just can't do this do myself anymore. I know the timing is very bad indeed, but it's like I don't have a choice. I just can't, sorry guys.' In his own words:"

"Due to personal circumstances I have decided to leave Anata. This truly wasn't an easy decision to make and I really hope all the best for the other guys in the future." More...
