Slipknot in israel, cool, slipknot appearing on the mtv video awards show presenting best hip hop video, not cool, although they are still a great live band, the band has lost focus and zip on there latest records, but thats what happends when the anger is gone and sobriety kicks in,....lyrics are solid, if u like rock, but for metal, the thrill is long gone, i miss the old days, the out door daytime live shows, no slow interludes, just raw aggression and energy on stage,....
The band needs another iowa style albumn....quick, they are on the edge of being a has been, ask korn, they just reached that plateau....... i really want this band to succeed, and are there harshest critic,....i aint a hater, however i just call it like i see it.......praying for a miracle.....shagrath

I thought the album was decent bt followed the same lines as their old albums - a few good songs then filler, on AHIG the filler was better than the filler on older albums bt not Slipknot Style, and the good songs weren't as good as the big songs on the old albums i.e. Spit it Out and The Heretic Anthem. So it was a more balanced album but fairly meh in my opinion. And Dead Memories - Stone Sour. Its obviously because it appeals more to the mainstream but wat can ya do, the mainstream pay more for things like this so they have to appease the customer, and perhaps they actually like the song themselves?

Okay.
First off, I know that this new video is gonna f***ing be awesome! Because everything that SLIPKNOT does turns into f***ing gold!
And to me, it sounds NOTHING like Stone Sour at all! You people just say that because Corey Taylor's in Stone Sour and you just associate the voices.
Just because it's not Heavy doesn't mean it's not SLIPKNOT. It's still SLIPKNOT!
And the new Album is f***ing Amazing!
True, "Dead Memories" isn't the best song on the album. Cuz I personally would rather see a video for "The Butcher's Hook" or "All Hope Is Gone". But you've got to respect SLIPKNOT's decision. Because they are the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. And they know what the f*** they're doing.
True Maggots Realize This. If you consider yourself a maggot, and are not supporting this and you think the new album is not SLIPKNOT, then you're not staying true to them.
SLIPKNOT is still doing their thing. And they're evolving as they go.
You just have to accept that.
Everyone should know that EVERY SLIPKNOT album sounds totally different from one another. So "All Hope Is Gone" should have come as NO surprise at all.
And it's f***ing awesome! Some of the best stuff I've ever heard, Right among the other SLIPKNOT albums.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the new video! "Dead Memories"!

Am, Mr. Timothy Alexander Dotson you have very few valid points there. 1. it really does sound like Stone Sour. I'm a fan of both bands and am going to see Slipknot in December but fact is that Dead Memories sounds very much in the vein of Stone Sour songs, for example - Cardiff, Reborn and Bother. If you can't recognise that you must have something wrong with you. And not just because of Corey's singing but also because of Jim Roots guitar, you tool.
Slipknot are still doing their thing and i do respect that but fact is a lot of their earlier stuff i.e. Disasterpiece, Spit it Out and (Sic), all sounded much heavier than the songs on the new album.
You said and i quote "Because they are the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. And they know what the f*** they're doing." They may know what they're doin but that doesn't mean what they are doing is brilliant, in my opinion the new album was around 7/10. And the fact is there are better bands out there, The Haunted, Kalmah, Amon Amarth, Lamb of God, Sonic Syndicate etc being but a few examples (I'm not a slayer fan).
So while I do like slipknot and respect their decision in changing their music they aren't the best thats out there and if you really think they are you really need to listen to more music.
Sorry bout the length of this post guys and gals

Winds of Plague is awesome! They seem to be getting more and more popular..
Way off topic, yeah, I know..nice quote from Bret Hart! He is one man that I truly respect. Like I said, the new Slipknot album is pretty good. It does not sound anything like Stour Sour's self-titled album, but the new one...well..I never heard the entire thing. haha
My opinion, once again.

lol why does slipknot always start this big argument. everybody dets so p***ed its funny. i was the biggest maggot there is back in the day when the first cd came out 9 years ago. granted i was 11 but still.
i like the new cd, but i dont consider it metal. and i think dead memories is a good single.

^ahh... i see we have an intellectual among us. I just wish he could speak in layman's terms so we could understand all the great wisdom he has to share. :p
I really didn't like songs like Dead Memories/snuff/cold. I think those were the songs that the mellow aspect of stone sour showed through the most. Slipknot to me have always been an "I'm f***in angry for no goddamned reason" kinda band, and these songs, to me, just don't fit the mold. Not bashing the album though, I find myself listening to Gematria almost as much as Obzen or Ghost of perdition, so what the hell.

Shut up "Slipknot fan #1". Perhaps you meant to say that there are a few valid arguments posted by several members but in your opinion they are mistaken and the new album is quite possibly the best yet, including references to certain songs/ solo's/ melodies etc.
However, you didn't and i can only assume that your intellect is not up to the challenge of making a coherent argument as to why AHIG is a good album. Their sound has changed completely and while I still listen to them, i prefer their older work.
Get a brain and don't ever tell people to shut the f*** up. People have a right to their opinions and if it is well put and has good points in it then who are you to deny them?
Or should i just say GO f*** YOURSELF???? Is that a better argument?

Oh sorry Irish I must have been thinking of another song i heard of the album, so far I'v only downloaded Gematria, Psychosocial, and AHIG, so I scarecly remembered how the rest of the songs sounded besides snuff and the topic song. :p
I am listening to this cold black right now though, and although I don't like the rest of the song that much, this is the best solo on the album I've heard yet, so it's next on the download list haha.

Really? the new heretic anthem? hell no. Gematria would much more easily fit that title in my opinion, nice riffs throughout, one of the few songs without a clean chorus, and even then, the chorus is catchy as hell.
Now Playing: slipknot- Butcher's hook
(I like this one alot more than cold, and I also appreciate that they went back to cursing in this song, I felt that was one of the main components that made slipknot well, slipknot, and I thought it was severely missed on vol 3, so it's something)

Finally someone who has something to say about them either than "NEW ALBUMS FCKIN GHEY SLIPKNOTS OLD KNEWWS LULS" or "YEAH I LOVE THE NEW SLIPKNOT....GO RADIO!!!!"
Great points and essentially a synopsis of Metal and music these days.

alabama thunderp***y is one of the best names i've ever heard for a band, and i don't even listen to them. It's just random hilarious imo. I will side with you on steromud though, that name is just pointless and dumb.
