Metalunderground.com Official Podcast, Episode 15

After a week off due to technical issues, the Metalunderground.com Official Podcast is rolling along once again. Co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) launches this week's episode by announcing another ticket giveaway through Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, FL, this time for the upcoming DevilDriver show on June 18th. Tune in for more details.

Next, Kevin recaps last week's ticket giveaway performance: Swedish theatrical occult rockers Ghost (Kevin adamantly refuses to use the band's asinine new legal moniker "Ghost B.C.")

Then Kevin and co-host Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) react to the new Suicide Silence lyric video "Cease To Exist." The song is the band's first released material since the untimely 2012 death of vocalist Mitch Lucker in a motorcycle crash.

Then comes a discussion of the recent "uncloseting" of two founding Cynic members Paul Masvidal and Sean Reinert, and finally an affectionate nod to the late Hans Ruedi Giger, the Swiss surrealist artist whose impact on metal visuals - including collaborations with Celtic Frost, Carcass, Korn, and Triptykon - runs far and deep.

Tune in here, enjoy, and offer us your feedback.

Tim Lambesis Reportedly Sentenced To Six Years

Radio.com is reporting that Tim Lambesis has been given a six year sentence after attempting to hire an undercover law enforcement officer to murder his wife. The site reports:

Tim Lambesis, singer for San Diego metal band As I Lay Dying, was sentenced today (May 16) to six years in prison in a San Diego Superior Courtroom for attempting to hire a hit man to kill his wife. Judge Carlos Armour handed down the sentencing.

Last February, Lambesis threw himself on the mercy of the court by pleading guilty to the felony charge of soliciting the murder of his wife of eight years, Meggan Lambesis.

The verdict was handed down as the singer’s ex-bandmates Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso and Josh Gilbert looked on. Spilling into the section typically reserved for the defense, many of Meggan’s more than three dozen supporters adorned small yellow felt hearts pinned to their shirts to make their sentiments known.

In other news, the remaining members of the band have teamed up with a member of Oh, Sleeper to form new project Wovenwar. Check out the first single at this location.

Municipal Waste Posts "Living Fast" Episode

Living Fast is a heavy metal talk show created by Ryan Waste (Municipal Waste/Volture/BAT). The first episode, which debuted in February, featured John Gallagher of Raven.

The second episode, divided into two parts, takes place in Europe during the Caulture Shock Tour with Cauldron and Waste's heavy metal band Volture.

Waste elaborates, "We did all the filming and interviews on the fly giving it a different vibe from the first episode. This time around we broke it into two parts because of the multitude of footage. Part one mostly covers the UK with interviews from Jeff 'Mantas' Dunn and Tony 'Demolition Man' Dolan (Venom, Atomkraft, M:Pire Of Evil) and several other NWOBHM bands during Brofest 2 in Newcastle. We also visited a couple British heavy metal landmarks and dubbed multiple 'Headbangers Of The Month' across mainland Europe.

"While on the road sometimes a certain song becomes a tour anthem, and surprisingly it's not always a metal tune. We became obsessed with the soundtrack from the 1987 B-movie Miami Connection that was re-released on Drafthouse Films. The intro in this episode of Living Fast is a tribute to the AOR ninja band Dragon Sound from that film. Hopefully that will clear up any confusion for the metalheads who watch the show. Enjoy Part 1 and stay tuned for a lot more tour antics in Part 2 as well as an exclusive interview with Michael Denner of Mercyful Fate."

Check out Part 1 of the second episode below. More...

Morbus 666 Signs New Record Deal

Today Moribund Records announces the signing of Texas black metal cult Morbus 666. The label comments:

"Morbus 666 was formed in 2009 in the Houston, Texas underground from members of Adumus and fellow Moribund labelmates Bahimiron.

"In the first year, they recorded their debut MLP, 'Mortuus Cultus,' out of songs that were originally written for Adumus. Adumus was about to take a indefinite break due to Cerebus (vocals) enlisting into the armed forces, so the remaining members of the band (Vomit, Moon, and Archfiend) set out to find a temporary replacement and finish the songs that they had written.

"They invited Grimlord from Bahimiron to help them with the vocals, and with this union came the early blueprint for the band. After a few rehearsals, they all decided that a different band name was in order, as the new songs did not quite fit what was previously laid down with their band Adumus. Grimlord came up with the name Morbus 666. The name was created to represent infernal sickness and disease, a different way to reference demonic possession.

"The first material still had a strong Adumus influence within, and the band agreed moving forward that a new direction would slowly filter its way into the newer batch of material. The first song of their new identity came in the form of 'Through Black Fog Burns the Eyes of the Devil,' which appears on their split with Teratism entitled Spilling the Blood of the Righteous. The gatefold 7" vinyl was released on Worthless Endeavors in early 2012.

"Then Morbus 666 went into a dead-but-dreaming state, lurking away from sight and all the while gestating into a new form. Finally, in 2014, they decided to unearth the beast and get serious with the band, as it had always been a side-note of sorts while the members focused on their priorities with Imprecation and Bahamiron.

"Morbus 666 revamped their lineup, with Moon and Grimlord continuing with the band and adding members Priest (Thornspawn), Poe (Unchrist), and Jenoside (Bahimiron). Now they are ready to unleash new material, to be released on Moribund Records later this year." More...

Skyharbor Launches Crowd Funding Campaign

Skyharbor has launched a crowd funding campaign to help with the costs of an upcoming album. You can get full details and find the perks for contributing at PledgeMusic.com here. The band also comments:

"Five months ago, we posted out here that we had some huge ambitions for our new album, but were hesitant to do something like this to achieve the required goals. However, the response from you guys was such an overwhelmingly positive one to go ahead and do it - so here it is - a Pledge campaign for our second album!

"Our plan is to enlist the help of legendary Australian producer Forrester Savell for the mixing of this album, and the brilliant animator Jess Cope of Owl House Studios for a beautiful animated music video for a very special piece off the album. With your help, we will be able to realize these dreams and take this new album to an altogether new level from what we could ever hope to achieve by ourselves.

"Beyond just raising funds, if we meet our targets we can show the world at large that we can stand on our own feet with the support of this incredible army of fans that we have on board with us, and that together we can create magic and achieve things that would have been deemed impossible a few years ago.
