Like Rats Releasing "II"

Southern Lord has announced the addition of Like Rats to the label, confirming the band's crushing new album for a March 2016 release.

Several members of Like Rats also hold rank in Chicago-based powerviolence/grindcore faction, Weekend Nachos, yet with this alter-ego, the focus of the beatdown is much more heavily influenced by death metal with generous helpings of caveman swing.

The upcoming "II" full-length surges with the band's most monstrous material yet, delivering eight new tunes with thirty-three minutes of pure savagery. Recorded by Andy Nelson (Dead In the Dirt, Harms Way), the Weekend Nachos crew has spawned an entirely different beast with Like Rats, and the damaging proof lies in the band's Southern Lord debut.

"II" will see release on LP, all digital platforms, and marks the band's compact disc debut. The CD version will also compile every filthy note the band has ever recorded, including previously vinyl-only releases, with twenty-two tracks in total. More...

"OK folks, I'll own this one, but dammit, I was joking, and the 'inside joke of the night' was because we were drinking fucking white wine, hahaha...

"Of all fucking things. Some of y'all need to thicken up your skin. There's plenty of fuckers to pick on with a more realistic agenda. I fucking love everyone, I fucking loathe everyone, and that's that. No apologies from me. PHA '16."

Rhine Streaming Entire New Album

Seattle’s Rhine is streaming full upcoming album "An Outsider" ahead of the official February 5th, 2016 release date. Listen in below, courtesy of NoCleanSinging.com. Vocalist/guitarist Gabe Tachell comments about the release:

"The name 'An Outsider' is about the struggle that comes with being different, it’s a love/hate situation. You want to shine but you’re afraid of it at the same time. You want to create trends, not follow them, but it’s scary to be the first one. It also has to do with social struggles and always feeling like a stranger.

"The album isn’t entirely cohesive though, no song is alike, we experiment a lot with mixing genres. It’s really all over the map emotionally too, not just angry and dark, but sometimes totally ironic or sometimes very deep and inspiring. It mixes in emotions you wouldn’t typically hear on a metal record like joy and nostalgia. The listening experience is a journey that won’t get you worn out on a single emotion, instead it is dynamic like we are as humans.”

1. Dreaming of Death (11:46)
2. The Spell of Dark Water (6:20)
3. An Outsider (10:05)
4. Somewhere (3:59)
5. Paralyzed (10:50)
6. Dissolved in Fire (7:53)
7. P.R.E.Y. (5:31)
8. Into the Unknown (6:34)

It's the most organic and aggressive album in the bands career. Working with Steve Evetts was a life changing experience for all of us.

"We learned and tried things that we never would have before, and were really able to harness the raw live energy that you get from our shows. We added a lot of new guitar work - more complicated solos, effects, and not to mention the vocal sound and structure is on a whole new level. Drowning Streams "Lord Of War"

Chicago beatdown band Drowning has inked a deal with the eastern PA hardcore label Fast Break Records.

The group will release debut full-length album "Egotrip" on 2/26, but you can stream the first single "Lord of War" now in the player below. The track features rapper (and fellow south side Chicago native) MoeCyrus.

"'Lord Of War' was written about the real life situation of trying to better yourself while having to handle your business," says vocalist Bryan Gantz. "Everyone has history and sometimes you are where you come from and rep what you rep. Growing up in Chicago you learn a lot from the streets. Once you commit to a lifestyle there is no going back or backing down. You have to stand up for what you believe in through and through. When the 'Lord Of War' calls he calls with no question."

The theme of guest vocalists continues throughout the album with contributions from Matt Honeycutt (Kublai Khan), John Hoffman (Weekend Nachos), Rob Watson (Lionheart) and Baer Coon the Ewokk.

"This is without a doubt the realest album we could have put together," says bassist Ryan Kramarz. "We went into the project with open minds and created something that encapsulates each member, our city, and the current state of things. This is Chicago Beatdown. This is Drowning." More...

This band is going to pave the way for the next generation of aggressive, but melodic music to shape the scene. I expect big things from She Must Burn and they fit perfectly among our roster"

“Our EP is really just an aggressive outlet for us all," says vocalist Amy Miller. "Each song is about something different: personal relationships, everyday issues, things you can’t talk about with the people you know."

The debut EP is available now at Merchnow or Google Play. More...

Prong will release new album "X - No Absolutes" on February 5th via SPV/Steamhammer and today second single "Cut and Dry" comes online. The band comments:

"I think you'll find our new single 'Cut And Dry' one of the most hard hitting and intense tracks Prong has ever released. It surely represents the pummeling fashion of our newest full-length album 'X - No Absolutes' which is released next week, February 5th.

"It's also the first track we've ever done that has a dueling solo, where Dane Markanson of Glass Cloud and I trade riffs. Via Vengeance Releasing "Harsh Conditions"

Battleground Records has joined up with Arizona-based solo outfit Via Vengeance for the release of the project's recently completed second full-length, "Harsh Conditions."

Via Vengeance is the creation of solitary member Shane Ocell, the drummer of Phoenix-based dynamic sludge troupe, Sorxe. After forming the project in 2006, a self-titled album was recorded in 2007 with Matt Bayles (Botch, Mastodon, Isis) and self-released later that year. Sporadic touring and live performances followed for the next few years, including a tour with A Storm Of Light in 2010, the same year Ocell recorded his follow-up album, "Harsh Conditions." The record has been on the back burner since its creation, mainly due to focus on Sorxe, but the album finally comes forth through a new deal with Battleground Records.

Game Over Announces New Album

"Crimes Against Reality" is the third full length album for Italy's Game Over, one of the most promising up and coming thrash bands in the European metal scene. It follows the widely successful "Burst Into The Quiet," which put Game Over on the map and displayed the massive potential.

Inspired by the classic Bay Area thrash metal scene of the '80's, Game Over mixes those influences with modern sounds and a very distinctive personality. "Crimes Against Reality" contains ten new tracks that mix sharp riffs, anthemic choruses and powerful rhythms, enriched by the use of unusual instruments such as Moogs and Hammonds. Lyrics vary from B-movie scenarios to social-political themes, science fiction, mythology and dystopian visions.

The album was recorded by Simone Mularoni (DGM) at Domination Studio in San Marino. Cover artwork was handled by acclaimed artist Mario E. Lopez (Evil Invaders, Impalers, Hyades). It will be released on April 15th on Scarlet Records.

Soon after the album release the band will embark in an extensive world tour, with dates in America in April, and European & Japan later this year.

"The Congregation" has been well approved by both fans, press, our label(s), agents, promoters a.o., but it's something special to receive recognition from Norway's most important music award! Ever since I was a kid, I've been watching Spellemannsprisen on the television, so it's quite surrealistic that we're suddenly one of the nominees. Lita Ford To Release New Album "Time Capsule"

American vocalist/guitarist Lta Ford is set to release her latest album "Time Capsule" on SPV/Steamhammer on April 15, 2016. The very special and unusual recording turns back the clock to a time when honest, down-to-earth rock music was still handmade and recorded without digital tricks and contraptions. "Time Capsule" is a "throwback" record that boasts identifiable voices and brilliant players jamming without any planning or pressure. Some of the album`s highlights: Billy Sheehan (bass), Rodger Carter (drums), Dave Navarro (mandolin), Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), Rick Nielsen and Robin Zander (backing vocals) and Gene Simmons (bass).

"There was a shitload of these 24-track analog tapes in the closet in my house (in the islands)," Ford recalls. "This is some of the best work I`ve ever done and it was sitting there. I grabbed two suitcases and took them back to the United States." Imagine Ford dragging a pair of suitcases full of analog tapes through the Caribbean dirt back to Los Angeles, so, as she recalls, "we could bake these fuckers," due to their age. "If you just put them on the reel, they would flake. I was chewing my fingernails, thinking, 'Please work!' And they did!" More...

Bloodthirst Completes Work On New Mini-Album

Blackened thrash metal act, Bloodthirst, has completed work on the upcoming mini-album, "Glorious Sinners." The material, which will include five brand new tracks, was recorded at Left Hand Sounds studio. Kontamination Design is responsible for the cover artwork. The recording line-up features Rambo (guitar, vocals), Gregor (guitars, vocal), Rybosh (bass) and Mnt (drums). More information coming soon!

Bloodthirst was formed in 1999 in the Goat City of Poznan, Poland. After a few demos and split releases the band signed to the highly acclaimed Pagan Records and released three full-length albums: "Let Him Die" (2007), "Sanctity Denied" (2009) and "Chalice Of Contempt" (2014). The sound is based on the classical thrash pounding but also widely influenced by black and death metal of the 90s. Over the years they have proven themselves in the metal scene to be one of the most respected Polish black/thrash ensembles which in turn led to opportunities to perform with cult names such as Samael, Destroyer 666, Nunslaughter, Aura Noir, Kat, Vader and other respected Polish bands.

Never part of the pathetic “old-school” hype, always spitting in the face of the modern trend, the four emissaries of hellfire and malice, have trodden their own path of Hateful Antichristian Thrash. Having solidified their current line-up (with Gregor handling the second axe since 2015), holding their heads up high and proudly drinking to the diabolical, Bloodthirst are ready to unleash "Glorious Sinners."

Dave Padden Joins Third Ion

Prog metal outfit Third Ion, featuring former members of The Devin Townsend Band and Into Eternity, has announced that the band's new vocalist is none other than Dave Padden (ex-Annihilator). Padden replaces departed vocalist Tyler Gilbert. The band issued the following statement about the lineup change:

"Sadly, after our last gigs, our singer Tyler informed us he was leaving the band. We loved having him, but his heart and passion lie with his own music. We wish him all the best, and good luck with his future! Right away we wasted no time and got right on the search for a new singer. Dave's demo blew us away, and not to mention he has an incredible amount of experience! We have been sitting on this news since the summer, and after getting back from Vancouver this week, with a finished album worth of vocal tracks I am absolutely psyched to announce Dave Padden as the singer for Third Ion!"

Third Ion are currently recording the follow-up to 2015 Glasstone Records debut album "13/8bit." The sophomore effort entitled "Biolith" will also be released on Glasstone. An audio clip of the band recording with Padden can be heard below. More...
