Spiritual Beggars Reveals New Album

Swedish vintage hard rock band Spiritual Beggars returns with a 9th studio album entitled "Sunrise To Sundown," which will be released on March 18th, 2016 in Europe as well as March 25th, 2016 in North America via InsideOut Music.

Just like on previous two album releases, "Return To Zero" (2010) and "Earth Blues" (2013), the Spiritual Beggars line-up consists of bandleader Michael Amott (Arch Enemy, ex Carcass) on guitars, teaming up with Apollo Papathanasio (ex Firewind) on vocals, Sharlee D'Angelo (Arch Enemy, Witchery) on bass, Per Wiberg (Candlemass, ex Opeth) on keyboards as well as Ludwig Witt (Grand Magus, Firebird) on drums.

After a busy couple of last years with Arch Enemy, Michael Amott and his bandmates have once again found the availability and inspiration to lay down 11 dynamic and uplifting new song.

Speaking about how the new album came together, Amott commented: "We've been writing the album here and there over the last couple of years when our schedules have allowed us to meet up and spend a few days jamming. A few of the songs I wrote on my own, others were written by our keyboard player Per Wiberg. Our drummer Ludwig Witt submitted two tracks that are actually his first major contributions to the band as a writer - and they're great songs too! I also co-wrote a few tunes with Per Wiberg and that was really a lot of fun as well, it's been a very collaborative process."

In counteraction to the oftentimes soulless current hi-tech digital cut/paste recordings, "Sunrise To Sundown" was tracked live off the floor and Amott added the following about the recording results: More...

The venue has been closed down since the terrorist attacks in Paris back in November. Machine Head comments:

"French Head Cases, we are very disappointed to break this news to you, but unfortunately, a new venue / date was not able to be sorted in time for a Paris show (originally scheduled for Feb 16th, 2016).

"As we announced previous, it was expected for almost a month that Le Bataclan would re-open in time for our show, but in December we got news that it would (understandably) remain closed for continued investigations after the terror attacks.

"At that point, we looked into every possible option, adding a date at the beginning, a date in the first week, tagging on to the end of tour after Glasgow... everything... no luck. The sad fact is, we were a month behind most every other re-routing happening. More...

Slice The Cake Faces An Uncertain Future

Progressive metal band Slice The Cake is unfortunately down a member, as Gareth Mason just issued this statement via Facebook:

"For reasons far too numerous and personal to list here, 'Odyssey to the West' will be my last album with Slice The Cake. We have one more show lined up that will be announced shortly and what happens after that, and whether STC continues to be a thing at all will be totally at the behest of Jack and Jonas, and totally for them to work out. Release date is coming soon. It's been real, thank you."

Jack Magero adds: "Whether or not it continues as STC, I have a metric fuckload of material still lying around from the post OTTW writing phase, so at the very least, I'll still be pushing on. It's unfortunate that things unfolded how they did but the only thing that matters is getting the music recorded and out into the world, which is still my goal, so keep those spirits up everyone.

"Furthermore, I don't blame anyone who may not be interested in Gareth-less future projects. I don't listen to post-Howard Jones Killswitch Engage, soooo... yeah, I totally understand. Regardless of anything else, I wish the best of luck for whatever tomorrow brings to all" More...

Droids Attack Announce New Album "Sci-fi Or Die"

February 26, 2016 will see the release of "Sci-Fi or Die," the fourth full length offering from Wisconsin stoner/doom act Droids Attack. The journey towards the completion of this masterpiece reads a tad like science fiction.....Today sees the release of the first single from "Sci-Fi or Die," entitled "Brahma Astra." Check it out in the player below. "Sci-Fi or Die" is available for pre-order physically at this location and digitally over here.

Madison impresario and retro arcade game fanatic Brad Van started Droids Attack back in 2000 and has been its driving force ever since. Obsessed with tone, great riffs and a cohesive vision, Van created the music that is "Sci-Fi or Die" after being courted by an independent label on the heels of their 2011 release, "Must Destroy." After a few tours and some amazing opportunities, Van was determined to continue the band's forward momentum into the next release, and began the writing process in earnest. In a little over a year's time, a body of work was amassed. It was 2013.

"Sci-Fi or Die" was demoed shortly thereafter with the expertise of Jon Terrones (The Suit, The Book-Burners) at his Internet chat room-famous basement studio, Chez Woo. As fate would have it, this would be Droids' last session with beloved long time bassist Nate Bush (Bongzilla, The Garza). Not to be deterred, the band acquired an old friend, Dennis Ponozzo (Below The Sound, Sinking Suns) to fill in, and the bass tracks were re-demoed with great success. However, after a short national tour, and a slew of regional shows Dennis could no longer make time for Droids, and the search for a replacement was on once again. Van, at a crossroads, needed someone solid to handle bass duties, so he set his sights on another good friend. Local legend, Darwin Sampson, owner of one of Madison's most well known and much respected music venues, The Frequency. More...
