Lacuna Coil Parts With Guitarist

Lacuna Coil is down another long-time member, with guitarist Maus now departing the group. Lacuna Coil issued this statement about the situation:

"To all of our friends, and fans all over the world. It is with bittersweet emotion that we announce that Lacuna Coil guitarist Marco ‘Maus’ Biazzi has decided to leave the band.

"We are of course sad to lose such a long time member of our family. However, Maus needs to follow what is in his heart, and we wish him all the best with whatever the future may bring. nd we know that whatever it is that Maus will do in the future, it will be filled with heavy riffs, and a lot of good times."

Maus himself had this to say: "It’s never easy to say goodbye to someone, especially after more than 17 wonderful years lived together. Sharing everything about life, on the road, on and off the stage. Growing up as a band and as a musician which played pretty much everywhere on this planet. Seeing positive results and feedbacks coming finally after so hard work together. I will never forget all these emotions and I will always keep them with me.

"I felt I couldn’t add more in this project any longer so I decided to leave my second family, Lacuna Coil, to take a different path for a new challenge in my life.

"I’m now looking for another musical project to start and to get back on the road as soon as possible to kick ass again around the globe because this is what I want and what I love the most. More...

Monster Truck Releases New Video

The Canadian hard-rockin’ juggernaut Monster Truck will release new album "Sittin’ Heavy" on February 19th, 2016 via new label home Mascot Records for Europe and Dine Alone Records for the rest of the World.

Ahead of this release, Monster Truck has put together an epic storm of a video for "Don’t Tell Me How To Live." The song is inspired by a comment made by singer and bassist Jon Harvey’s girlfriend – “She started giving me trouble for playing guitar every day and I replied, ‘This is my job, don’t tell me how to live’” – its message holds true in a variety of situations. “The song is about being independent in one’s life, rather than worrying about what people think or the expectations of other people; just be true to yourself.”

The stadium sized track needed a fitting location and the band pitched up to the middle of nowhere at Caledon, Ontario on an oil rig with drone cameras and captured the band playing in the middle of a snowstorm.

Talking about the video guitarist Jeremy Widerman remembers, "When it comes to music videos It seems that the bigger a pain in the ass it is to film the better it turns out. Between an improbable 5 story industrial load in and numerous warnings that the drones flight path was too dangerous….. the entire video shoot balanced on knifes edge. Luckily with some unexpected help from Mother Nature we were able to get exactly what we wanted and come out unscathed.”

The result was both epic and beautiful as singer/bassist Jon Harvey laughs "It was cold, it was wet and it was tiring, but it looks awesome. Next time someone says, 'drones', I'm all ears." More...

Van Canto Premieres Lyric Video For New Track

German inventors of Power A Cappella Van Canto have announced the impending new release "Voices of Fire." The band has signed on with earMUSIC for the album's release, which is set for March 16, 2016 in Europe (North American date TBA). "Voices of Fire" is the follow up to the 2014 album "Dawn of the Brave" (see our review at this location).

As a first taste of the new release, the band has teamed up with Metal Underground.com to bring you the lyric video for the first single "Clashings On Armour Plates," which can be viewed in the player below. The track marks a new chapter in Van Canto’s musical story: Metal Vocal Musical. The first song of the album to see the light of day perfectly demonstrates that the six musicians of Van Canto are not only able to imitate instruments such as guitars, basses and keyboards but instead and first and foremost tell stories.

"Vocal Metal Music further develops what we stand for as Van Canto. Not only can our voices sing and imitate guitars but they are also able to tell stories. It has been six years that we’ve been working on this concept – and now we’re finally able to share it with the world," says founding band member Stefan Schmidt.

The band has teamed up with German bestseller author Christoph Hardebusch ("Die Trolle" – engl. "The Trolls"), who is going to release his new fantasy novel "Feuerstimmen" on March 17th on Piper Verlag.

"We are barely able to tell what came first: the music as part of the novel or the novel as part of our album. Christoph Hardebusch and we worked hand in hand on this. Our compositions did influence the novel and vice versa. Simply put, we created our own world – a world full of competing kingdoms, epic battles, dragons, fire and bards. Not always deadly serious but full of adventures to set your imagination running wild… like Van Canto does," explains lead singer Sly, who developed the plot of the novel together with Christoph Hardebusch.
