Interview
Suppressive Fire Unleashing Absolute "Bedlam"
A young player on the thrash scene, the North Carolina extreme metal outfit Suppressive Fire is on the cusp of releasing debut full-length album "Bedlam" - due out tomorrow (January 14th).
We previously had the pleasure of premiering the entire new killer album prior to its official release, and can't wait for the world to get ahold of this monstrous disc of raging death/thrash.
In addition to streaming the album, we checked in with guitarist Joseph Bursey to chat about the diverse Raleigh metal scene, whether the band feels actively seeking label support is worth the effort ("...at the moment what could a label really do to benefit us that we’re not doing on our own?") and the good happy fun things covered in the album's lyrics - like the sexual satisfaction of running another man through with a bayonet.
Be sure to grab your digital or physical pre-order for "Bedlam" via Bandcamp here and check out the full interview below. More...

Throne Of Heresy Unveils Album Cover
Throne of Heresy emerges from the unclean abyss with sophomore album "Antioch," a blackened piece of death metal art and a stylistic triumph for the band.
"Antioch" marks the beginning of a new chapter where the material is heavier and more sinister than ever before. The album was written over a period of two years, each song painstakingly arranged and re-arranged to deliver the full impact and fury expected from the Swedish death metal canon.
Recorded and produced by none other than Magnus ”Devo” Andersson (Marduk, Pain) this album is set to drop on February 12th, 2016 via The Sign Records. More...
Valleys Reveals New Album Details
Modern metal group Valleys is set to release debut full-length concept album, "Experiment One: Asylum," on February 12th, 2016 with the album following main character Asylum in a battle against multiple personality disorder.
"Experiment One: Asylum" was recorded during the summer and fall of 2015 and is produced by Paul Barton of 415 Recording, with mixing and mastering duties handled by Todd Borland of Borland Studios.
Vocalist Jayson Mitchell comments: “We wrote this album as a concept on Multiple Personality Disorder because we understand how devastating this disease can be on the individual and his/her family. We wrote these lyrics and music as a way of hope for the people diagnosed with this disease. We want them to hear the record and hear the story of Asylum, the main character, and see that if he can fight the disease, anyone can."
The full cover artwork and track listing is available below, while you can also check out a video for "The Death Of Me" here and the song "Finding Solace" here. More...

By being both eclectic and conservative in its means and ways, Akatechism is a testimony to the inherent antitheses in the history of man. This catechism obviously does not contain lectures from above, but is dedicated to the wisdom from the abyss below. The track listing is:

Eleventh Hour Releasing New Album
Eleventh Hour's "Memory Of A Lifetime Journey" will see release on January 20th, 2016 and the track listing and artwork are now available below.
The Eleventh Hour project was born in 2014 out of guitarist Aldo Turini's need to express some musical ideas that have been kept in a drawer for years. Aldo arranged all the songs and wrote the orchestral parts with Giuseppe Carella, whose background was so distant from symphonic metal that the final result was very peculiar and musically challenging.
In November 2014, the band's line-up had finally been confirmed and included Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints, Edge Of Forever) on vocals, Luca Mazzucconi (N.F.D, Lahannya) on drums, GianMaria "Black Jin" Godani on bass and Alberto Sonzogni (The Black Phoenix, Timesword) on keyboards.
Drums, bass and acoustic guitars were recorded in Parma at Real Sound Studios, electric guitars at Michele Quaini's O.U.T. Side Studio and vocals (including soprano Susanna Carboni for "Sleeping In My Dreams" and "Here Alone") at Alessandro Del Vecchio's Ivorytears Music Works Studios.
Alessandro Del Vecchio, a renowed producer for some iconic international musicians, mixed and mastered the album, perfectly balancing it between the powerful approach of the band as a whole and the melodic and cinematographic orchestral flavor of the compositions. More...
Skuggsjá Unveils New Album Details
Norway's Skuggsjá, the new band led by Ivar Bjørnson (Enslaved) and Einar Selvik (Wardruna), today revealed details on a debut album.
The release, titled "A Piece for Mind & Mirror," will drop through Season of Mist worldwide on March 11th and pre-orders are live right here.
The first new track off "A Piece for Mind & Mirror," titled "Vitkispá," can be heard in the player below. Regarding the track, Ivar Bjørnson comments on behalf of the band:
"It was not easy to pick one song to reveal as we are extremely proud of them all. We chose 'Vitkispá,' because this song represents the sound, the atmosphere, and energy on the entire album very well. It flows and ebbs, with Einar's signature vocals and my wall-to-wall guitars. 'Vitkispá' is sung in archaic Norse tongue, and deals with the cyclical nature of Norse mythology and existence; ebbing and flowing like nature and life itself. Check it out, you will not be disappointed!" More...

Arcana 13 Reveals "Danza Macabra" Details
Occult rock/doom legion Arcana 13 harvests the seeds of terror planted by the masters of Italian cult horror movies from the '60s and '70s, digging deep down to the roots of heavy, powerful and magical atmospheres to manifest a truly spellbinding musical and visual experience.
Imagine the ominous mystique of Lucio Fulci's classic "The Beyond" or Dario Argento's "Inferno" set to a Black Sabbath or Pentagram-inspired soundtrack: this is Arcana 13.
With the forthcoming "Danza Macabra" full-length, slated for release this March 11th via Aural Music, eight legendary movies were meticulously chosen for their specific atmospheres and eight songs took shape based around those flicks. Arcana 13 adopted a unique composition process where music and movie edits were conceived together along with the visuals post-production, with the intention of creating an exclusive horror-themed live show to be brought to fruition in the coming weeks.
"Danza Macabra" includes a rendition of Goblin's acclaimed theme from Dario Argento's "Suspiria" as well as the striking cover craftings of iconic horror artist Enzo Sciotti. With a career spanning over fifty years, Enzo Sciotti has illustrated more than 3,000 movie posters, including cult horror masterpieces like Lucio Fulci's death trilogy "The Beyond," "City Of The Living Dead," and "The House By The Cemetery." Weaksaw Signs With Lifeforce
Lifeforce Records is proud to announce the signing of French metal act Weaksaw, with a new album set to be released this coming May. The label also issued this press release about the band and upcoming material:
"Ever since their creation in 2008 in Montpellier (South of France), Weaksaw have played a sincere brutal and melodic metal. The band was initially formed by Bryan Tronquet (drums) and Leo Sendra guitar), and are joined by Charles Villanueva (bass), Tristan Haillot (vocals) and Erwan Billon (guitar). The line-up has remained unchanged to this day.
"Weaksaw have released two EPs in a positively thrash core style, '13 X 13' (4 tracks) in 2008, and 'The Overture' (6 tracks) in 2009, both recorded at Trendkill Studios. Their first album, 'Weaksaw,' is released in 2012 by Klonosphere / Season of Mist, also recorded at Trendkill Studios. With this album, their style gets more radical, with a darker, more violent, technical touch to it. 'James Hudson Jr' is released in early 2013, marking the affirmation of their style, with more direct, ambient songs, charged with brutal emotion. The band, who auto produced this album, chose to release it exclusively digitally. It is a foretaste of their upcoming work.
"The band has toured extensively with each release. It is indeed on stage that Weaksaw reach their full potential, playing energetic, precise and powerful shows, with a strong connexion to their crowd. With more than 140 shows all through Europe, Weaksaw has forged themselves a strong reputation as a must see live band. More...
"We Are Twisted Fucking Sister" Documentary Coming
"We Are Twisted Fucking Sister!" - a documentary film by Andrew Horn - is due to be released on an updated date in Europe, now set for release on February 12th, 2016 via Monoduo Films.
The 137 minute movie (plus over 2 hours bonus material will be available on VOD and DVD) also now features are-worked DVD cover. Check it out below, along with a new trailer.
How fitting that 2016 marks the release of “We Are Twisted F*cking Sister!” which recounts the untold story of Twisted Sister’s beginnings, at the same time that the band mounts a last ever tour, bidding a final farewell to 40 years of performing. As the band gears up for the big finish, the movie shows how it all began.
Some considered Twisted Sister a joke, others called it the greatest bar band in the world. Guitarist Jay Jay French says, “The history of Twisted is really our 10 years clawing our way through the bar scene. It’s who we are, and it’s why we are, and why we do what we do.”
The film follows the band from the beginning as a cross-dressing glam group playing 4 shows a night, 6 nights a week in New Jersey bowling alleys and Long Island beach bars, to the suburban mega-clubs of the late 70s/early 80s, to the bust-out appearance on the U.K. rock TV show, “The Tube.” More...
Headspace Posts "Your Life Will Change" Single
Headspace, the band featuring Damian Wilson (Threshold) & Adam Wakeman (Ozzy Osbourne, Snakecharmer), recently announced the release of second album "All That You Fear Is Gone" is due for February 26th, 2016.
The band, completed by guitarist Pete Rinaldi (Hot Leg) & bassist Lee Pomeroy (It Bites, Steve Hackett) as well as new drummer Adam Falkner (Babyshambes, Dido, One Eskimo), also just launched the first track off "All That You Fear Is Gone." Check out "Your Life Will Change" below.
Vocalist Damian Wilson had this to say about the track: "We have a natural need to better ourselves, our situation and future. This is part of the human survival instinct and is encouraged and fed by the world we live in. Despite being aware that the real value is in the here and now, we find ourselves brushed along. But is it truly possible to opt out from this merry go round?
"'Your Life Will Change' references past civilizations to modern entertainment. We are distracted and controlled by a society. But what happens if we really break away from the group and ignore the ideal we're being sold? Will we become gods or fallen angels?"
Guitarist Pete Rinaldi adds: "This album picks up where 'I Am Anonymous' finishes. The process of each of us adding their creativity to the tracks has made this something we are really proud of. 'All That You Fear Is Gone' features the debut of my good friend Adam Falkner on drums who has done a fantastic job making his mark on this record, we are all looking forward to bringing it to live audiences." Svartanatt Releases New Video
Following a stream of the song, Svartanatt is now releasing a video of the single "Dead Mans Alley." The clip is much different than you might expect, featuring very young members of the band in a clip that was recorded for different material and never saw the light of day... until now.
Svartanatt comments: "A friend to the band recorded the video in his youth, but it never came to use. It worked well with our song and we all thought it was a fun idea for a video."
"Dead Mans Alley" will be featured on a new full-length album due out in the spring of 2016, with full details to be announced shortly.
Venomous Concept Covers David Bowie
The international grind/hardcore punk collective Venomous Concept has released an homage to the recently deceased David Bowie in the form of a cover of the track "Suffragette City." Give it a listen below.
Regarding the track, recorded as part of the sessions for new album "Kick Me Silly; VC 3," front man Kevin Sharp comments: "I guess I mirrored a lot from Bowie's plot. Nothing the same twice... everything looks and sounds a bit different. So we did a bit of tongue in cheek here. Music will have less color from the last few months - cancer is like that. So celebrate what you got. There is no other choice. Thanks for the songs and random direction you put life on." More...
Usurpress Signs With Agonia
Doom/crust/prog-infused death metal band Usurpress has signed a deal with Agonia Records. The quartet from Uppsala, Sweden recorded 3rd album, entitled "The Regal Tribe," during the fall of 2015 under supervision of producer Lawrence Mackrory (FKÜ, Darkane). Its release date has been slated for 2016.
"The name Agonia is synonymous with integrity, originality and quality", says Usurpress frontman, Stefan Pettersson. "We felt that to be able to compete with the bands already signed to the label we had to challenge ourselves and really step up our game. We decided early on to discard the traditional way of songwriting/arranging and compose 'The Regal Tribe' one piece at the time, starting with the first riff in the first song and ending with the last riff in the last song. That way we hoped to avoid the album becoming repetitive and stale and instead more fluent and powerful. Listening back to the finished album, I’m convinced we did the right thing. This is the album we have always sought to do". More...

Post-hardcore group Note To Self explores the pitfalls of living with OCD in a new music video for the track "Akrasia." Available below, the video makes use of frantic, black and white cinematography and was directed by Marcus Eden at the Painted Tiger Warehouse.
"We wrote this song to give people insight to what it's like to live with a mental disorder," says vocalist Albert Schweizer "Being diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder myself, I know how alone a person can feel. It's hard for people to understand what we go through every day. This is our way of saying you are not alone, we understand."

Rivers Of Nihil Recruits New Drummer
Progressive death metal outfit Rivers of Nihil has amicably parted ways with drummer Alan Balamut. Regarding the split, Alan comments:
"Hey everyone. I'm sure many of you already know and some may not but I have decided to part ways with Rivers of Nihil a few months ago in good terms. The reason is simply that I need to financially situate myself (NYC isn't easy) and my urge to finish school in Music Production. I found Dylan Potts just before my departure and I believe he fits in and performs with the band in phenomenal ways.
"The whole ride was an amazing and unforgettable experience and I have nothing but respect for each member, former member, our manager, all the people I've met and Metal Blade Records. In the meantime I'll be doing session work and other music productions, and I'll be more open for touring after I finish school in 2016-- and if Rivers ever need any assistance, I'll be right there for them. I wish the band all the success for next year and beyond!"
With Alan's departure, Rivers of Nihil welcome Dylan Potts to join the ranks. To showcase his talent behind the kit, the band has filmed a new drum play-through for the track "Perpetual Growth Machine," taken from latest album "Monarchy." More...

Sammet commented: "Great news - my North American friends: WE'RE COMING BACK! You know, the few memories I have of our last Avantasia show in Canada are a bit blurry. Back then I went from hospital right to the stage as I had some real mean flu. I was so high on whatever medication the doctor gave me to make the show, all I remember are the green little creatures in my dressing room that were calling me names but always disappeared under the sofa whenever I tried to catch them to confront them with their silly behavior… Now, looking at the video I sounded quite a bit awful, ha! But I've been told I was funny and a very happy person that night.
"AND I AM HAPPY TO SAY WE'LL BE BACK - IN GREAT SHAPE: Toronto and New York confirmed, West Coast show in the works. Unfortunately Bob [Cately] won't be able to join us for the dates outside Europe as he will be off on a Magnum tour, but we'll bring Michi Kiske, Jorn Lande, Eric Martin, Ronnie Atkins, Amanda Somerville, Herbie Langhans, Sascha Paeth, Olli Hartmann and ME of course… And Miro. And Andre on bass… And as if that wasn't enough on drums there will be no other than...THE DRUMMER!!! Can't wait to hit the stage!"
Confirmed dates are as follows:
APRIL 13 - CANADA - Toronto, Queen Elizabeth Theater
APRIL 15 - USA - New York, Playstation Theater
