Sarke Announces New Album Release

Sarke’s fourth album, featuring the icy and grim screams from Darkthrone’s lead vocalist
Nocturno Culto, is titled "Bogefod" and will drop on March 11th, 2016 via Indie Recordings. The label comments:

"It is a highly conceptual album spinning around the evil walking dead Torolv Bogefod from the Norse classic Eyrbyggja saga. After an ugly death, Torolv breaks out of his tomb. Dead, yet undead, he terrorizes the villagers and causes deaths and devastation. This Viking story is 1,000 years old.

"Several retrospective musical elements enhance the underlying story, as the warm sound of a 100-year-old guitar colors the otherwise icy and grim atmosphere of Nocturno Culto’s screams. In addition to this, the ballad in the track ‘Dawning’ in between all the ripping and chilling moments throughout the album enriches the contrast and contributes to telling the story’s true and folky nature."

The track listing is as follows:

1. Taken
2. Blood of Men
3. Barrow of Torolv
4. Alternation
5. The Wickeds Transient Sleep
6. Burn
7. Dawning
8. Evil Heir

The Zenith Passage Releases New Lyric Video

"Solipsist" is the debut full-length from Los Angeles death metal collective The Zenith Passage, set for release on April 15th via Unique Leader Records.

The forty-minute "Solipsist" examines the idea of solipsism, a philosophical theory that the self is all that can be known to exist, and anything else outside of one's own mind is uncertain.

The Zenith Passage, which features within its ranks current and former members of The Faceless, Fallujah and All Shall Perish, builds upon this foundation, expanding into themes of nonexistence and a computer-generated fictional reality experienced by all of humanity.

In advance of its release, today the album's second track "Holographic Principle II: Convergence" comes online in the form of a lyric video. Check it out below, courtesy of MetalInjection.net Elaborates lead guitarist / backing vocalist Justin McKinney of the tune:

"Recent studies suggest that our universe may only appear to be three dimensional and is, in fact, a two dimensional projection of a parallel universe - like a hologram in the unseen 'real' universe. 'Holographic Principle II: Convergence' mirrors the chaotic state of a destabilized mind awakening to realities much stranger than we could have imagined. The composition has a multifaceted, sporadic essence. While remaining true to our death metal roots, we pushed this piece's edges into other territory, entwining the aggressive technical foundation with spatters of jazz fusion and classical symphony. We hope you'll lose yourself as you take your first look into 'Solipsist.'" More...

Draugnim Reveals New Album

Six years after the band's previous release, Finnish outfit Draugnim is proud to unveil the cover and track listing for new offering "Vulturine," due out March 11th, 2016.

Draugnim adds: "Great effort has been given to develop the sound even further to express what is the essence of Draugnim. The futile struggle against all curses of mortality as famine, pestilence and madness bring nations and gods to ruin. Songs range from raw shamanistic pagan rites to more atmospheric pieces of grief unsung. So leads on our crooked path."

1. That Name Is Hate
2. As In Hunger, So In Demise
3. A Passage In Fire
4. Grief Unsung

Schizo Re-Issuing "Main Frame Collapse"

Schizo's "Main Frame Collapse" is getting a reissue via Punishment 18 Records on January 25th, 2016. The label had this to say:

"Schizo have been pioneers of the Italian extreme metal scene together with Bulldozer and Necrodeath. Schizo was founded in 1984 and symbolizes one of the most important brand in Italian extreme metal scene.

"Originally released in 1989 in 12" vinyl format by Crime Records, their 'Main Frame Collapse' debut album is still cult among underground circles, so hard to find! Chuck Schuldiner, mastermind of legendary Death band was asked to join the band for the recording sessions of 'Main Frame Collapse' in 1989; however, due to the intense activity with his band, Schuldiner was forced to deny the request.

"The band was on hold between 1999 and 2005. Their 2007 waited come back release, 'Cicatriz Black,' has been extremely well received by critics and fans. In September of 2007, founding member Alberto Penzin decided to leave the band due to musical differences and personal problems with the rest of the band. He founded a new project called Camera Obscura Two. Then, Dario Casabona was named as new four strings player. By Scarlet Records, the band released the third and last full-length album in 2010, 'Hallucination Cramps.'" More...

Blood Ceremony Announces New Album

In a tradition that dates back to Late Antiquity, the "Lord Of Misrule" or "Abbot Of Unreason" was the doomed figure elected to preside over the Feast Of Fools, an annual Saturnalian bacchanalia in which masters became servants and servants masters, while drunken revelry and strange entertainments pervaded Britain and parts of mainland Europe for 30 days. At the end of the month's festivities, the Lord of Misrule's throat was cut in sacrifice to Saturn.

Taking its title from this fascinating slice of religious history, Blood Ceremony's fourth album evokes pagan rites and the bizarre mystical underbelly of rural Britain. Embracing the psychedelic and progressive in their indelible songcraft, guitarist Sean Kennedy, bassist Lucas Gadke, drummer Michael Carrillo and triple threat vocalist/flautist/organist Alia O'Brien have created what Kennedy calls "a very English album," despite the band's very Canadian heritage. Recorded to analogue tape with producer Liam Watson at Toe Rag Studios in London, Lord Of Misrule possesses a timeless quality within the rock epoch: It could stand alongside a Shocking Blue or Deep Purple record as easily as it will take its place among 2016's finest albums.

"Lord of Misrule" conjures a lush atmosphere in which the pastoral horror of "The Wicker Man" and the Scottish ballad of "Tam Lin"-as viewed through the lens flare of Ava Gardner's witchy turn in 1970's The Devil's Widow-are alchemized into songs of seduction and mortality. "There's no defining concept running through the album, unless one can imagine a lord of misrule offering each song as a different entertainment," Kennedy says. "The lyrics tend to deal, in different measure, with obsession, love and death."

"Lord of Misrule" will be released March 25th via Rise Above Records.

The album's track listing is as follows:

1. The Devil's Widow
2. Loreley
3. The Rogue's Lot
4. Lord of Misrule
5. Half Moon Street
6. The Weird of Finistere
7. Flower Phantoms

Vocalist Mem von Stein comments: "We wanted to display the entire scope of our thrash and traditional heavy metal roots on the new album. 'Catatonic' is a prime example when we used a mid-tempo track, on an otherwise fast-paced record, to sonically create some variety without losing any momentum."

Spheron Streams New Track "Gargantua"

While some bands out of the technical death metal sector seem to focus too much on the first aspect of the genre’s name and forget about the songs, there are true exceptions. Spheron combine ambitious death metal with a technical appeal but also with versatile moods within their varied songs. The second full-length “A Clockwork Universe” is an even more expressive proof.

Aside from the composition and technical progression, the band sticks to the team Christoph Brandes (producer: Necrophagist, Deadborn o.a.) and Eliran Kantor (artwork: Testament, Hate Eternal o.a.). Both parts seem really inspired by the quintet as they went all out. The sound creates an omnipresent atmosphere while it remains crystal-clear and the album cover (shown here) carries this vibe to the outside.

Now...you can hear the result with the first track revealed from the band's first release in three years by streaming "Gargantua" below. The album will be issued by Apostasy Records on February 26th. Pre-orders can be made at this location.

The track list for "A Clockwork Universe" is as follows:

1. Keeper of Time and Space
2. The Blind Watchmaker
3. Plains of Hungary
