Invasion Unveils "Destroyer Of Mankind"

Six years since the release of last album "Orchestrated Kill Maneuver," Indiana’s war-themed death machine Invasion will release "Destroyer of Mankind" via Abyss Records on February 17th.

This brutal and uncompromising release demonstrates Invasion's vicious blitzkrieg and wages battle with new members Dan Klein (drums) and John Hehman (lead guitar), while main songwriter/lyricist/guitarist Peter Clemens continues his obsession with World War II.

Peter had this to say about the band’s activities leading up to the recording of the album: "It's been almost 6 years since ‘Orchestrated Kill Maneuver’ was released on Rotting Corpse Records, and it's been somewhat of a frustrating endeavor. We lost original drummer Dave ‘Ross’ Cady in early 2014 and had auditions for the vacancy, which led to more delays, but in the end we acquired Dan Klein on drums and lead guitarist John Hehman. Plus we teamed up with Sea Of Tranquillity/Screamking guitarist Ralphael Hernandez who played on the ‘Berserk Artillery Barrage’ CD from 2001, so things have been moving forward."

Asked about his switch from guitar to bass, Peter stated "I'm an average guitar player so I had no problem handing guitar duties to John Hehman. He's an excellent musician with a good ear, and teaming up with him to work on the new Invasion recordings was an obvious choice. John pretty much helped lay the groundwork for the recordings in his studio (Broken Toe/Bang Recordings) and things turned out great." More...

Seeker Gearing Up For Tour

Since the release of "Loss," the nihilistic metal assailants from Seeker have not halted the brakes behind support of “one of the most aggressive albums of the year,” as described by metal pundits Aardschok Magazine.

Following a December headlining tour, Seeker has now unveiled plans for 2017, including U.S. and Canadian tours with The Grindmother and Psycroptic, and a stop at the Modified Ghost Fest in Vancouver.

"We're beyond pumped for our February headliner with The Grindmother, Cognitive, and Wvrm,” states vocalist/bassist Bryce Lucien. “Every band on this tour is absolutely vicious and the shows are going to be ridiculously intense. We're ready to grind our way up the East Coast with this gang and hit some towns that we haven't played in a long time.”

He goes on to say, “Shortly after, we cannot wait to do our first full Canadian tour with our friends in Psycroptic. Joining us on that will be Archspire and Visceral Disgorge, so you know every night will be crushing. 2017 is shaping up to be the best year of touring that we've ever done. We’ve got a few other tricks up our sleeve which we’ll announce very soon. Prepare for impact!” More...

Abhorrence Announces Live Release

Abhorrence's comeback to the live arena after 23 years of lying in wait in the grave took place in the black summer of 2013. Svart Records was also there, capturing all 35 minutes of the bone-grinding mayhem and cadaveric incantations spewn forth from the stage.

After an unholy gestation period, the live material is now being let out to wreak havoc and cause grievous bodily and mental harm to the general public. Abhorrence is still old school, still undead, and unclean. This will all be proven by "Totally Vulgar - Live at Tuska Open Air 2013," set for international release on February 10th via Svart Records.

The release of "Totally Vulgar: and a set of live appearances during 2017 also mark the end of an era, says vocalist Jukka Kolehmainen: "With this album and live rituals, we lay the old songs to their tomb. Then it is time to face new, upcoming dark depths and see what secrets lurk therein." More...

This Ends Here Releasing Split With Conqueror Worm

Two U.K. bands combine to produce a record that reflects the bleak realities of the modern world - a record that evokes the dark, miserable and disorienting experience of watching humanity destroy itself.

The This Ends Here side of this intriguing split opens with "Seeds," a continuation of the sound on the 2014 "Afterwards" release - anthemic d-beat breaking into heavy riffage – before careening through a chaotic collection of styles including punk, doom, and post-rock and finally descending into a bleak, atmospheric outro.

Conqueror Worm meanwhile is a three piece bass and drum deathgrind band that combines the viciousness of bands like 324 and Fear of God with the atmosphere of Gorguts and the barbarism of Celtic Frost. This release sees the trio exploring dungeon-crawling grind that is equal parts cavernous and ear-splitting. More...

Horseneck Posts "Michael Caine" Video

California post hardcore/sludge group Horseneck will self-release the "Heavy Trip" full-length album next month. This ten-track bruiser was captured by Lance Jackman at The Dock, mixed by Scott Evans at Antisleep Studios, and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering.

"Heavy Trip" will see release on February 17th, 2017 on CD, cassette, and digital formats. As a precursor to its release, today the band's hilarious visual accompaniment to "Michael Caine" comes online. The band comments:

"This track is about the feeling you get after a hard party night. Like next level hard party night. When it doesn't stop, and maybe you've made some horrible decisions, but you keep going and going and going. You kind of forget who you are at times. You wake up the next day and say I will never do that again.... but we all know you're lying. We all do it again. The video was just a fun way to show the party animal in all of us." More...

Montfaucon Streaming "The Last Night"

Montfaucon - the medieval era doom/death metal concept project from Uzbekestani duo Valentin Mayamsin and Michel Cadenzar - will release six-track album "Renaissance" on February 17th, 2017. Pre-orders are available via Bandcamp here.

In anticipation of the album's release, Montfaucon just revealed another new track, entitled "The Last Night." The track was inspired by The Hunchback of Notre-Dame and draws from black metal, progressive doom, and symphonic metal influences, accented by Michel's complex, haunting piano melodies.

Valentin states, "When I first heard Michel's piano playing many years ago -- back when we were both aviation students in a university in Tashkent, Uzbekistan -- I loved it because it was so dark and there was so much feeling to it. I realized I could put heavy guitar on top of it without much experimentation, without doing much to change the arrangement.

"'The Last Night' is one of our most lyrical and melodic songs. The lyrics are inspired by Victor Hugo's 'Notre-Dame de Paris' (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame). I was struck by the depiction of medieval execution by hanging and displaying the bodies as a warning to other people. Relatives were not allowed to bury their bodies according to Christian traditions. The story tells about a poor guy who risked his life to follow religious tradition, to save a soul of a hanged man." Darkest Hour Releasing Lager

In honor of the band's 20th anniversary and release of ninth studio album, "Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora," Darkest Hour teamed up with DC’s own DC Brau Brewing Company for a collaboration titled Savor The Swill, a German-style Helles lager that will be available in limited release starting February 11th in Washington, D.C.

“This project was born a few years back,” says Brandon Skall, co-founder and CEO of DC Brau. “It may have taken some time for it to come to fruition, but it was worth it.”

DC Brau’s co-founder/head brewer Jeff Hancock and Skall worked with the band to choose a style they would enjoy drinking.

“There was one obvious choice that rose to the top after discussing the many potential beer styles that we could brew – a German-Style Helles,” says Hancock. “I mean, how fitting is it to choose a beer with the word hell in the name? Cha Ching!”

Savor The Swill is a light, golden German lager with lively, natural carbonation that touts aromas of lightly-kilned malt, grain, and cracker with a subtle herbal hop presence. A clean fermentation profile, low alcohol content (5% ABV), and a perfect ratio between the Czech Republic 2 Row Pilsner malt and Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops contribute to this well-balanced, meticulously crafted, domestic interpretation of one of Germany's most delicate lagers. Oozepus Releasing "Your Limit"

A collaborative project between members of death metal/doom legends Coffins and industrial, junk metal abuser supreme Linekraft, Oozepus is a three-piece band reveling in the physicality and simplistic brutality of early-era Godflesh and Swans.

"Your Limit" is Oozepus' first official release; a four-track EP built on battering repetition and singular, riffs, and propelled forth by rigid bass lines, warbled, underwater vocals, and massive percussive pummel. All of it is delivered with an infectious and hypnotic cadence, coalescing into a towering wall of heaviness and pressurized sludge.

Saille Announces New Album "Gnosis"

Belgian symphonic black metal act Saille announced the fourth studio effort will be entitled "Gnosis." The album's release date will be announced soon.

"Gnosis" contains 9 tracks of epic black metal. Song titles set to appear on the effort include "Benei ha'Elohim" (based on the Book of Enoch - Man mixes with fallen angels, who gift them with knowledge and children), "Pandaemonium Gathers" (inspired by Paradise Lost (Milton) - Satan convinces his fallen comrades to take revenge for being expelled out of heaven), and "1904 Era Vulgaris" (after The Book of the Law (Crowley) - A brief description of some of the basic concepts of Crowley's Thelema).

Comments guitarist Reinier Schenk: "Our previous cd 'Eldritch' was a good album, but we felt it had to be darker, we had to bring Saille to another level. The logo has been modified as a statement; the 'curls' were removed, both in style and music. The listener can expect a more defined Saille, with an own identity. The tracks are more compact and powerful, meanwhile referring to the feel of our 2nd CD 'Ritu,' but more intense and extreme this time."

The new album also depicts Saille as a five-piece for the first time. Founding member Dries Gaerdelen decided to leave the band to focus on the bookings. Drummer Kevin De Leener states: "The orchestral part will remain an important part of Saille, but there will be no keyboard player on stage anymore."

Concerning the recording of the drums for this album he says: "Well, it is definitely faster, which I think is awesome, and finally I am very satisfied with the natural sound of the drums on this record." More...
