Black Label Society Posts New Music Video Online
Heavy metal wrecking crew Black Label Society has posted a new music video online for the song, "You Made Me Want To Live." You can check it out below. The song comes from the band's latest album, "Doom Crew Inc." which is available now through MNRK Heavy.
Blacklab Releases New Single
It's 2022 and Blacklab are back. The self styled "Dark witch doom duo from Osaka, Japan" are set to drop their third album in the Summer and it is a veritable beast of a record. More on that to come though.
In the meantime ahead of their first appearance outside of Japan at London's Desertfest. The band are dropping a new single which is a little taster for the sonic mayhem to come on album 3. The full length version of the song will appear on the forthcoming album, and in the meantime, the single version can be heard via the band's official BandCamp.
"Abyss Woods" has all the trademark Blacklab sounds, furious fuzzed up riffs, rolling thunder drums and vocals slipping seamlessly from melodic to full on throat shred. Heavy stoner doom as only the Japanese can do. Add to that a new found assurance in the studio, with production by Jun Morino and mix by Wayne Adams (Big Lad, Green Lung, John, Cold In Berlin) and you have a potent indication of what's to come. In fact album 3 ramps things up even further we can assure you.
If you are in London post Desertfest, the band will be playing their only other gig in Europe on Monday 2nd May at the Victoria in Dalston. For more information, click here. More...

Interview
Theigns & Thralls Founder Discusses Debut Album
Folk metal has come a long way since it was first recognised as a genre in the 1990s. While bands like Led Zeppelin were experimenting with folk music, it was the likes of Skyclad and Cruachan who established it as a true sub-genre and over the past ten years or so, its popularity has sky rocketed. As mentioned, Skyclad were arguably the first folk metal band and so it's unsurprising that one of the year's most excited albums in the genre would come from a member of its lineup, as frontman Kevin Ridley introduces the world to Theigns And Thralls.
It was only two weeks ago today that the band released their debut album, an eponymous trek which finds so many instances and events from history that the modern world has barely learned from, if at all. Joining Ridley on this journey are current and ex members of Irish legends Waylander and Cruachan, while an enormous amount of guest musicians from the likes of Korpiklaani, Ensiferum and Celtibeerian were also involved. To find out more about the record, Metal Underground spoke with Kevin Ridley himself, in an interview which you can watch in full below.
Diamond Oz: Obviously people know you from your work with Skyclad. What would you say it is about Theigns And Thralls that gives you more freedom of expression, if at all?
Kevin Ridley: Well, that's one of the things. Most of the songs that I write with Skyclad are co-written of course but obviously on the Theigns And Thralls album, I've written them all. Having said that, some of the songs are adaptations of poems and things like that from the past, which again is one of the things that Theigns And Thralls allows me to do because I have this penchant for history and historical fiction, so I can combine those things to create these new songs, so I'm not trying to fit in with what Skyclad's doing, I've got a free hand to do what I want. I've got to say, one of the things to remember is that when I started Theigns And Thralls, I didn't have a plan or anything, it was the kind of thing that just evolved because of the pandemic.More...As you're well aware, we were will sitting with time on our hands in a lockdown situation and I had a few songs, because I'd done a solo album before and I wanted to do another one, because as a musician, you never really stop writing. Some things are suitable for Skyclad and some songs aren't so you end up with some stuff. It was a gradual thing where I said, "I've got this time on my hands, I've got a few songs, what can we do with this?" and kind of built it up from there. Once I got into it, it evolved quite quickly and I kind of found a little niche or a certain area that I thought was productive, so I followed it and got in touch with some friends who I felt could add things to it and then it built up to friends of friends and grew into this project, so I started taking it a bit more seriously once I realised it could turn into an album. We couldn't do anything with Skyclad anyway because I live in another country.
Venom Inc. To Release New Album In September
Extreme Metal pioneers Venom Inc. are proud to announce their sophomore album "There’s Only Black," which will be released on September 23rd 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records. Almost 40 years after their inception, the revitalized 1989-1992 Venom line-up of guitarist Jeff "Mantas" Dunn and vocalist/bassist Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan and the new addition of drummer Jeramie "Warmachine" Kling have returned with one hell of a follow-up to their acclaimed debut, "Avé," and show no signs of slowing down. You can check out a lyric video for the album's first single, "How Many Can Die" below.
Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan comments:
"Following Wacken in 2019, our live season closed giving us time where I could have my hip replacement surgery and the band could use the recovery time to work on a new album...Little did anyone know we’d be hit by a pandemic that would pause the whole world.
"We began our work at a pace, then being locked down with no prospect of live shows, we decided there was no need to rush it but instead utilise the time to create without the pressure of live work looming.
"So we began recording our songs and after producing twice the amount required, we began editing, touching up, improving and polishing until we finally had what we felt was THE correct album to finally present to you: a pure ball of furious Venom Inc. power that left us feeling proud and excited at the same time. THIS album will soon be yours!!! And as the world runs through its evolution of colours remember: when the sun goes out...THERE’S ONLY BLACK! AVE!"

Suasion Unveils "Transformation" Video
Following the release of "Infinite" and "Murphy’s Law" feat. Florent Salfati (Landmvrks), Suasion are now dropping their first brand-new single "Transformation" along with a music video today!
The cinematic electronic metalcore architects Suasion have also announced that they are almost finished in the studio of their forthcoming studio album and the newest single is taken from the album that will be released via Atomic Fire Records. "Transformation" is the third episode of the band's album movie concept and the lyrical messages are matched by the music and by the band’s visuals. The video illustrates their further discoveries on their mission into outer space that will be revealed within the following music videos within the entire album sequence.
Vocalist Steven states about the new song: "Beyond telling the next chapter of our story, the lyrics are about the fear of change. As in the music video, we are sometimes faced with difficult choices in our lives, choices that can change everything and break our balance, our comfort. However, sometimes, accepting the change can be beneficial and henceforth make us a better or a more adventurous person. Transformation or degradation? Will I transform into something that will help me reach my goals or will I degrade and fail? To answer those questions in our story, we decided to try and accept the change."
Julien, the bassist, adds: "The hard task of the music video was to find the good location. A cave that doesn't look like dark grey rocks. We wanted something with textures like sand and it was hard to find in Belgium, especially in February because most of the caves were forbidden to the public due to the hibernation of the bats as these are protected species." Induction Uploads New Lyric Video
Progressive power metal highflyers Induction return with a new lyric video for their latest single "Sacrifice." With several new singles at the horizon in the upcoming months a fully recorded sophomore album (due to be released in fall this year), and a freshly signed deal with the booking agency 9Lives, the quintet is gearing up for several upcoming surprises.
Originally founded in 2014, Induction left their first mark with first single "The Outwitted Consecration" (2016) before completely entering the metal world by releasing their self-titled debut album in 2019. Its enormously positive reception even paved them the way to touring across Europe alongside Brazilian power metallers Armored Dawn in November of the same year. It was a notable career start for the quintet that was unfortunately haulted by the still ongoing pandemic leading to a break (at least on live front) that wasn't only used by the band to work on their sophomore album but also to renew their power - and they can't wait to unleash it in 2022. Horizon Ignited Posts New Lyric Video Online
After the announcement of their highly anticipated album "Towards The Dying Lands," set to be released on July 1st, and after the release of the first two singles from the upcoming LP, Horizon Ignited now deliver their third single called "Servant." The track is accompanied by a lyric video.
The Finns have once again delivered a tempting taster of the new record, combining fast heavy metal elements with demanding lyricism.
Singer Okko Solanterä stated about the new single:
"'Servant' is the fastest and thrashiest song of the album. Very straightforward and aggressive, with a melodic chorus giving some room to breathe and bringing some nice dynamics. The song is this Lovecraftian sci-fi story about a person who pledges himself to serve a dark purpose, becoming a loyal subject to an eldritch being who wages war and brings death across the whole universe, literally conquering planets within his wake." Mixed & mastered by founder and guitarist Cornelius Kharsyntiew at Legato Recording Studio, the video for "Rape Culture" was produced by Andreas Nathanial War and edited by Kharsyntitew.
“The song ‘Rape Culture’ is an attempt to raise awareness on the rape crisis that is prevalent in India. With the country's capital Delhi being termed 'The Rape Capital of The Nation', DYMBUR realized that it was high time that we need to address this issue. The song also talks about victims of rape such as Nirbhaya and Asifa. Of course, the other characters in the song are fictional but were an absolute necessity.

Kassogtha Debuts New Single
Swiss progressive death metallers Kassogtha have revealed their stunning new single "Before I Vanish." "Before I Vanish" is the second glimpse of new material from the quintet's forthcoming album "rEvolve," released Autumn 2022.
Kassogtha are led by vocalist-lyricist Stephany, whose incredible command of growled and clean vocals help mark the band as future Swiss heavy music stars. A concept album, "rEolve" tells the story of an endless self-destructive cycle of fear, anxiety, and jealousy. In a world that normalises negativity, we have forgotten how to be happy — and following a pandemic-enforced long, hard look at humanity and society, this is Stephany’s journey of dealing with these emotions. This album is a perfectly timed release valve for two years of isolation, anxiety and grief — a furious expression of frustration at missing the things we love that help us get through difficult times.
Of "Before I Vanish," Stephany comments: "Have you ever wished that you could go back in the past and tell your “old-self” not to worry, that everything is going to be fine?
"This is the story of 'Before I Vanish': a deaf dialogue between two characters representing the same person in two different timelines. One is suffering and begging for help, the other desperately tries to reach her to show her how it will all end.
"In the end, 'Before I Vanish' tells us that we can never know exactly where we will end up, but we always know where we came from." More...

Space Vacation Posts New Music Video Online
San Francisco-founded NWOTHM (New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal) band Space Vacation has just released their holier than thou music video for "Reign In Hell," the first single off their upcoming album "White Hot Reflection," which will be released on April 29th. The song is about choosing your own destiny and using the origin of Lucifer as the catalyst for the listener's own choice - to serve in heaven or to reign in hell.
In regard to the music video, Space Vacation drummer Eli Lucas says, "It's not easy to make a video yourself when the goal is to fool people into thinking it was made by someone who knows what they're doing. Luckily, we stumbled across the perfect filming location: an infinite black abyss, conveniently located deep underneath my neighborhood church. It also doesn't hurt to have four of the most sexy, photogenic dudes in town, if not the world."
Lead singer Scott Shapiro adds, "It’s hard to remain handsome on the decent to hell, but I think we pulled it off. This song is one of our favorites from White Hot Reflection and we hope that makes it out of the void and into every heavy metal loving fan’s home and eventually be that song stuck in their head that distracts them from whatever it is that they don’t want to be doing. Is it better to Reign in Hell? It’s certainly more fun!" More...
Heart Attack Covers Genesis Classic
French riffing powerhouse Heart Attack are excited to present their version of Genesis’ “Jesus He Knows Me”. This song is available as bonus track on the CD version of their new album “Negative Sun”, which will be released on June 10th, 2022, via Atomic Fire Records!
Heart Attack about the cover version: "’Jesus He Knows Me’ is a special song for Heart Attack. We listen to a lot of different kinds of music, and we are all fans of Genesis and Phil Collins. We recorded during the pandemic, a dark time for everyone, and we wanted to record a fun cover that would contrast with the rest of the album. This track was a huge hit in the early 90's and it was a nice challenge to make it a metal song that everyone can headbang to." More...
Septicflesh Releases New Lyric Video
Symphonic death metal maestros Septicflesh has revealed a striking lyric video, accompanying their magnificent new single "A Desert Throne." Depicting a desolate, desert wasteland, completely void of humanity as we know it - one hopes that the end of times are a farfetched, distant future...
The band commented:
"This is a more epic song with dominant dramatic melodies. Will mankind be leaving behind a barren Earth as its legacy? A desert planet like Mars? For the visualization of the song, a small animation sequence was created by Cloud Factory and was “dressed” appropriately with the lyrics of the song. Enjoy!"
Septicflesh's forthcoming studio record "Modern Primitive" will be released on 20th May 2022. More...
