Projected To Release New Album In June

Building upon the success of 2017’s release "Ignite My Insanity," rock and metal supergroup Projected today announces "Hypoxia," the band’s third studio album out on June 24 via Rat Pak Records.

The upcoming album features 13 brand new songs from the heralded quartet consisting of Sevendust guitarist John Connolly, Alter Bridge/Creed drummer Scott Phillips, Sevendust bassist Vince Hornsby and Tremonti guitarist Eric “E-Rock” Friedman.

"Hypoxia" is available for pre-order in various configurations including CD, vinyl, and cassette bundles, here.

Guitarist and singer John Connolly says, "To me, personally, it feels like the most cohesive work we’ve done especially considering it’s the first time we all went in the studio together. That in itself had a huge impact on the songwriting process. And it’s taken some time to finally get released but it feels like we’ve matured quite a bit as a band."

"Hypoxia" shows a band building on its established foundation while incorporating new and exciting elements. Following the brooding album intro "Consequences," listeners are then greeted to the crushing guitar riffs of John Connolly to open the galloping track "Dead Weight," setting the stage for the rest of the album’s journey. Projected shows great range on this latest offering, establishing hooky and singable moments in songs like "Stain," "Take Aim," and "Scars" while expertly crafting classic nu-metal styles in "The Thing That’s Real," and "Hypoxia." Songs like "Dark" and "Death Is Mostly Permanent" showcase the band’s ability to slow things down while still keeping a foot-stomping pulse. Fans will be sure to be headbanging in no time to the latest offering by these rock and metal stalwarts.

Tracklisting:

1. Consequences
2. Dead Weight
3. The Thing That’s Real

I Am The Night Shares New Music Video

I Am The Night have released a music video for "I Am The Night", featured on their upcoming album, "While The Gods Are Sleeping," out on May 6. Find the clip below.

The new band, featuring Finnish metal legends, opens an ancient chasm of black metal born of an epic tradition.

Rising from the deep valleys of Kymi in southernmost Finland, I Am The Night is black metal rooted in the classic early ‘90s tradition, where walls of guitars and synthesizers raise the forces of darkness in a battle against the heavens and burning angels light up the night sky.

The band’s debut full-length album, with cover art by scene legend Necrolord, bears the title "While The Gods Are Sleeping," and will be released on May 6. The record was birthed during the heaviest blizzard Finland had seen in years in the winter of 2021, with the band holed up at the Soundspiral Audio studio during the height of the pandemic.

"This album, in a way, is both the thing that should not be and something we should have made flesh many moons ago already," comments Markus Vanhala. He continues, "It is a passage back in time that dark forest of our minds through which we spent our youth traversing." More...

Black Swan Streaming New Album

Vocalist Robin McAuley (McAuley Schenker Group), guitarist Reb Beach (Winger, Whitesnake), bassist Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, The End Machine, ex-Dokken), and drummer Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr. Big), otherwise known as Black Swan, will return with a second album, "Generation Mind," this Friday, April 8.

Find an advanced album stream below, and pre-order/save Generation Mind on CD/LP/Digital here.

Picking up where their stunning, and well-received, debut album "Shake The World" left off, the foursome once again delivers a powerful hard rock statement. With the entirety of the album written and composed by McAuley, Pilson, and Beach, "Generation Mind" sees Black Swan an even more cohesive and focused unit from their debut.

Once again produced and recorded by Jeff Pilson at Pilsound Studios in LA, with Matt Starr’s drums being recorded at On Deck Sound Studios, "Generation Mind" is another outstanding showcase for the musical talents of the instrumental players in the band as well as McAuley’s powerful voice, which seems to defy age. Black Swan has again produced something fresh, heavy, intensely melodic and an album that is certainly not a mish-mash of the members other bands, but it’s own unique sonic entity.

"Generation Mind" is a killer slice of melodic hard rock/metal from seasoned players who defied all expectations on their debut by having gelled musically so cohesively. And now, having established their sonic signature and being more in tune with one another's songwriting, they have taken the blueprint of Shake The World and taken it to the next level on "Generation Mind."

Whether you are a fan from “back in the day” of the members' other bands or brand new to the '80s hard rock scene and just diving in, "Generation Mind" is going to be essential listening. More...

Helsott Posts New Music Video Online

Helsott - America's leading pagan metal band – has unveiled the music video for "Independence Night," the new single featuring guest vocals from Tim "Ripper" Owens, from their upcoming concept album, "Will And The Witch." The group's newest album will be released by M-Theory Audio on Friday, May 20th.

Says Dow, "'Independence Night' is a dark and heavy song. We have Tim 'Ripper' Owens doing guest vocals for us on this song and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Besides the opening money shot 'Ripper scream' we think you will be pleasantly surprised with the vocal performance by 'Ripper.' I have been a fan of his ever since I heard 'Bullet Train' from Judas Priest before the 'Jugulator' album was released. I know how hard it must have been to replace someone like Rob Halford and I felt like ‘Ripper' killed it. It's definitely surreal to be screaming alongside him in this awesome track. Enjoy!"

Says Owens of his guest appearance on the song: "I gotta say I had a blast doing this awesome tune with Helsott, anytime I can show off the wide range of my vocals, it’s a blast and doing the heavy-ass aggressive vocals are some of my favorite. I am ready for more." More...

Unearthing Tales of a Therion

We have recently enjoyed countless YouTube videos of “supergroup” styled lineups performing one-off cover songs since bands have recently been hindered in many ways due to the pandemic. Guitarist Scott Sargeant (Laaz Rockit, Skinlab, M.O.D.) considered doing the same with friends he’s known throughout his years of touring, but he wanted to take a slightly different path with Tales of a Therion. Instead of performing adored cover songs, Scott wanted to write an original song—presented via the horror-flick inspired video below—that would pay tribute to a band that made an impression upon him during his formative years: Celtic Frost. Accordingly, Scott paired up with Jörgen Sandström, whose resume includes Grave, Entombed and The Project Hate MCMXCIX, to write the song “This Means You Die!” More...

Founded in 2012 by guitarist/vocalist Hanno Klänhardt and drummer/vocalist Erinc Sakarya, Mantar stands among the leading forces in extreme metal within the last ten years. Loved by fans and press alike, the band took the world by storm with their truly unique sound, leading them to the Top 10 in the official German album charts with their 2018‘s "The Modern Art Of Setting Ablaze" and sold out shows throughout Europe.

While they‘ve pushed the limits on every output, "Pain Is Forever And This Is The End" serves as Mantar's most realized release yet. "I just knew I wanted to write stronger ’songs‘ in relation to ’songwriting‘ and rely less on being an ’extreme‘ metal act that only convinces through a certain sound or general ’heaviness,‘" notes Hanno. This is the most diverse and interesting Mantar album to date, taking things to the proverbial next level. More...

Apocalyptica Posts New Music Video Online

Two weeks ago, Finnish cello-rock quartet Apocalyptica released their new single 'I’ll Get Through It', featuring Franky Perez (guest vocalist on Apocalyptica’s 2015 record Shadowmaker) and Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath on bass guitar. Today, the band are happy to announce the release of their music video for the song. You can check out the video on YouTube now and stream the track on all digital streaming platforms.

The song was born out of a visit Geezer & Franky paid to their friend Diane, who had already written the track 'Not Strong Enough' for Apocalyptica, included in their 2010 record 7th Symphony. “Franky & I were visiting my friend, Diane Warren, at her studio. She played us this song, saying that she thought it would work well with Franky's voice. He gave it a try on the spot. We loved it. Franky then suggested sending it to Apocalyptica. They loved it, and the rest is history,” comments Geezer.

Apocalyptica will be touring extensively in 2022, as well as playing multiple Summer festivals, among other dates, before hitting Europe with the aptly named "Epic Apocalypse Tour" alongside Epica and Wheel. All dates can be found at the bottom of the press release.

'I’ll Get Through It' marks the first collaboration between Apocalyptica and Franky Perez since he sang on Shadowmaker, which adds to the excitement for the members of Apocalyptica. About the song, lead cello player Perttu Kivilaakso shares:

"'I’ll Get Through It’ – is a meaningful and beautiful song by an incredible songwriter Diane Warren, with whom we’ve also had the pleasure of working with before. We can’t wait for you to hear the final result… falling in love again with Franky’s sensual performance, Geezer’s earthshakingly powerful bass, and our wistfully haunting cellos, among the inevitable presence of all the rhythms and groove!

"We hope you’ll enjoy the track as much as we do! Gonna be a blast performing it live!" More...
