Xanthochroid Announces New Double Album

Following the success of the epic debut full-length "Blessed He With Boils," California masters of cinematic black metal Xanthochroid are back with the massive double album "Of Erthe and Axen."

To be released in two Acts (Act I on August 22nd and Act II on October 17th, 2017 - via Erthe and Axen Records), "Of Erthe and Axen" is a prequel to the tales woven throughout Xanthochroid's earlier releases. Kaipa Releases "Children Of The Sounds" Lyric Clip

Legendary Swedish progressive rockers Kaipa, led by mastermind Hans Lundin, recently announced the release of their new studio album "Children of the Sounds" for September 22nd via InsideOut Music.

Maybe I have a huge library of notes that I've collected during all my life, hidden somewhere in my sub-consciousness.

"Maybe these notes have been played before and then they just vanish in the air. After slumbering for many years, they suddenly wake up eager to start a new life and to form new combinations, and so they guide me through the writing process."

The track listing for the album is as follows:

1. Children of the Sounds 11:31
2. On The Edge of New Horizons 17:10
3. Like A Serpentine 12:52

Sweet & Lynch Announce New Album "Unified"

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of the second album from Sweet & Lynch entitled "Unified." The highly anticipated follow up to the band's Billboard charting debut, "Only to Rise" will be available on November 10th. Today, the first single,"Promised Land" from the album can be heard in the player below.

In addition to his vocal and guitar work, Michael Sweet (Stryper) handled all of the production duties on "Unified," commenting: "George and I couldn't be more excited about this album! We've worked very hard to bring you the best of both worlds - a throw back of the chart topping Stryper/Dokken days yet with a modern production that fits right in with anything out there now in the rock world today. We couldn't be more proud than to be working with Brian Tichy and James LoMenzo again as they are the best rhythm section you'll ever hear. If you liked Sweet & Lynch I, you're going to love 'Unified'!"

The combination of Sweet's powerful, high-octane vocals, Lynch's immediately recognizable guitar work, and Lomenzo and Tichy's propulsive rhythm section make for an amazing musical combination. The album gives both Sweet and Lynch the opportunity to operate outside of the boundaries of each member's most well known work and really stretch their wings. Pummeling, traditional heavy metal combines with hook-laden melodic rock and traditional hard rock for a recipe that will satisfy the hungriest of rock fans!

"Unified" is an absolute must hear for fans of all of Michael Sweet and George Lynch's previous work and of course for those who enjoyed the band's excellent debut album!

The track listing is as follows:

1. Promised Land
2. Walk
3. Afterlife
4. Make Your Mark
5. Tried & True

In a time when smart-phones dominate everyday life, I'm afraid that this question is becoming more and more common. We approached this issue with a wink and asked ourselves, how people would have responded to it more than a hundred years ago. The song COMATOSE forms the musical bridge between our third record iDentity and the new album, and thus reflects the traditional side of the album. We wish you a lot of fun with the clip!"

The Hirsch Effekt Premiere Video For New Single

After the breathless "Holon" album trilogy, The Hirsch Effekt has probably crafted the most extreme, darkest and most complex chapter, which goes by the name of "Eskapist," which will be released on August 18th. The second single "Inukshuk" is out today and currently available in the player below.

"Inukshuk displays the other extreme on 'Eskapist': calmness, simplicity and pop appeal," comments the band. "Of course not without a certain angry despair and melancholy, both of which are the cross-connections to the overall album context. Our deepest thanks go out to Marv and the Off The Road Studios, as well as to our protagonist Jari of ther German band DYSE." Check out the clip in the player below.

Socially critical, caustically political and musically overwhelming, the fourth album from the Hanoverian band is truly a lesson in progressive metal, prog and core. All three band members - drummer Moritz Schmidt, guitarist and singer Nils Wittrock and bassist and singer Ilja John Lappin - had an equal share in the writing of the record. The 12 complex compositions, interfused with prog, tech and sludge metal, continually shift between the different styles and were recorded with Tim Tautorat (who has previously worked with In Flames, Manic Street Preachers), Max Trieder and various guest musicians in Hanover, Leipzig and Berlin.

Escapism, in its many different forms, is the link between the different pieces and what holds the album together. Escaping from society, "circumstances" or private life. Once again the band's lyrics tackle issues that hurt and the music, which demands to be listened to, strikes almost incomparable in its intensity.

With the "Eskapist" album, The Hirsch Effekt gives us a final comment on our time. In simple terms: remarkably intense music. More...

German dark symphonic metal/melodic black metal act Atrium Noctis signed on with Sliptrick Records for the band's first release in seven years - "Aeterni." The long awaited follow up to 2010's "Home," will be issued on September 9th and will be the first to feature members: Thyratus (guitars), Rhadamanthys (guitars) and Kalliope (female vocals) - all having joined the band in 2014.

Atrium Noctis plays music which has its roots in symphonic dark and black metal. Influences from classical music mix with elements from pagan metal to create a unique sound and a special sheen of glamour to the output. The songs contain melancholic, hymnic and sentimental passages with epic and colourful nuances enriching everything as a whole.

Atrium Noctis love big sound pictures and have largely unbridled themselves from the genre limits of black metal. The group also feature multiple singers which guarantee a wide range of vocal diversity in combination with the German lyrics. This is a band that has fully dedicated itself to a melodic and sweeping sound and the new album, "Aeterni," will only enhance their reputation.

More information on the album is expected soon. More...

Ne Obliviscaris Reveals New Album Cover

Visionary Australian progressive metal crew Ne Obliviscaris will release new album "Urn" on October 27th, 2017. This upcoming full-length release follows 2014's "Citadel" (reviewed here).

Season Of Mist comments: "The Australian extreme prog stars have honed and re-balanced the key elements of their unique sound to a razor sharp musical edge. Fierce growls intertwine with emotive vocals, while devastating, intricate guitar riffs and thundering drums play against an unleashed violin and gorgeous string arrangements. Ne Obliviscaris innovate the epic, progressive and intense extreme metal forms of expression once again, marking a new peak in the steep rise of the band."

"Urn" is now available for pre-order across various CD and LP formats at the Season of Mist E-Shop. Regarding the new album, frontman Tim Charles comments: "After almost three years of honing our craft in every way that we possibly could, we finally present to you the first track from an album of which we could not be more proud of. 'Urn' feels like the culmination of all our years of hard work; the delivery of everything that we have wanted to create. Music and art as our imaginations see it fit to be. 'Intra Venus' is more concise than much of our work and is in fact the only song on 'Urn' under ten minutes, but one that we feel is a great introduction to the record. We hope that you will enjoy it." More...
