Venom Prison Releases New Video

Coming off the Metal Hammer/Golden Gods "Best New Band" award, U.K. death metal outfit Venom Prison is now premiering new video "Perpetrator Emasculation." The track is taken from debut full-length album, Animus, which is out now. The video was shot at a house show by Ashlea Bea Photography in the band's hometown.

Frontwoman Larissa comments: "Venom Prison grew from a grass roots hardcore scene, and have no intention of forgetting where we have come from. VP recently decided to do a home town show at a secret location and as you can see, it was intense.

"Living in a time where music venues close down or just aren't affordable for underground promoters and bands, supporting your local scene is very important as it helps expanding musical boundaries and help to evolve the bands involved in it. Hopefully this footage from 'Perpetrator Emasculation' spreads word that shows like this are going on all over the world in DIY spaces.

"This year has been relentless for us so far. Venom Prison has had all sorts happening recently including Download Festival and winning Best Newcomer award at the Golden Gods. It reflects everything that goes into making this happen because this band genuinely works continuously." More...

Cons Premieres "The Burden Of Knowing Why"

Today we're stoked to not only be offering up the first announcement of a new EP from Cons, but also premiering the release's debut single!

Cons (formerly known as Coma Prevail), will unleash "Slowhealer" this coming August 11th via Revival Recordings, capturing the angst of a band having gone through the death of a friend, along with the regrets and triumphs of growing up.

The record was produced and mixed by Beau Burchell at the Cottage, with additional mixing on "I Woke Up Like This" and "Our Secret Language" by Blake Benzel. Mastering was handled by Stephen Kondracki at Rogue Planet Mastering.

Cons comments on this upcoming release: "We recorded 'Slowhealer' almost 2 years ago and had plans to self release and basically give it away just to get our music out there. That being said we couldn't be more honored and stoked to release this through Revival. It brings a sense of validation to what we've been working so hard on, to have a great label show interest and pick up the reins and give it the proper release that we feel it deserves. Thank you to everyone involved in this with us. We can't wait to get this out there and get to work."

To give you a taste of what's to come, today you can hear advance track "The Burden Of Knowing Why" in the player below. Check it out and let us know what you think. Cons had this to say about the new track:

"'The Burden Of Knowing Why' is about the crutches we use in life to get us through the fear of dying. Religion, Drugs, Lust, Power, Money etc these things that distract us and keep a veil over our eyes as the oncoming storm of ceasing to exist ever approaches. It's about accepting our inevitable fates and finding love in ourselves and for one another before it's too late to get the most out of our short lives. This song is one of the more rhythmically complicated songs throughout the first minute, a lot of chaos held together by the vocals. The mid point in the song transitions into something a little more listener friendly and we wanted an anthemic positive vocal to close out the song with." More...

Theatres Des Vampires Issues New Music Video

Italian gothic metal act Theatres Des Vampires issued a new video clip for the song "Resurrection Mary." The song appears on the band's latest effort "Candyland," which is available now through Scarlet Records.

This is how singer Sonya Scarlet describes the video: "'Resurrection Mary' has been inspired by a real ghost. Since the 1930s, several men have reported picking up a young lady while driving in the Chicago area. She is dressed in a white party dress and dancing shoes. When the driver gets close to the Resurrection Cemetery, the young woman asks to be let out, whereupon she disappears into the cemetery. With this video we wanted to give our own interpretation of the Ressurrection Mary story."

Gross Reality To Release "Escaping Gravity"

Formed all the way back in 1991, Raleigh, NC melodic thrash outfit Gross Reality amassed an impressive live resume throughout the early-'90s; sharing the stage with legends such as Bolt Thrower, Cannibal Corpse, Confessor, Deicide, Type O Negative, and Unleashed. However, the band had left behind not a single recording at the time of the initial demise in 1996.

Reforming in 2009 at a time when high-level thrash metal was coming back with a vengeance, Gross Reality continued to gain exposure on the live front, performing alongside longstanding icons such as Death Angel and (at the time) relative newcomers such as Evile and Bonded by Blood alike. This culminated in 2014, when Divebomb Records finally unleashed the reunited group's long overdue debut full-length, "Overthrow."

Now, three years later, Gross Reality's fine-tuned trio of longtime core members Daniel Powell (bass/vocals), Roland Arthur (guitar), and Jason Wheeler (drums) has prepared an intense sophomore outing, "Escaping Gravity." The eight-song effort—once again produced by Jamie King at The Basement Recording—features gorgeous cover art by Par Olofsson and delves into lyrical topics as diverse as perseverance, the effects of war, alien abductions, and much more. The album drops on August 11th via Divebomb Records.

"Escaping Gravity"'s individualistic brand of tight, high-energy thrash strikes a constant balance between focused aggression and emphatic melody—at times even dipping its toe into more ambitious and prog-leaning waters, sure to pique the interest of those in search of more technical and complex fare. The end result should appeal to fans of everyone from Testament to Powermad; not to mention a younger generation of listeners more accustomed to the contemporary sounds of acts like Charred Walls of the Damned, Havok, and Gama Bomb.

The track listing and artwork can be found here:

1. Dimensional
2. Event Horizon
3. Zero Day
4. The Incomplete
5. Invitation
6. Soul Worn Thin
7. Into The Vault
8. Escaping Gravity More...

Exit Eden Issues "Unfaithful" Music Video

Exit Eden - the new ensemble featuring Amanda Somerville (Avantastia/Trillium/Epica), Clémentine Delauney (Visions of Atlantis/ex-Serenity), Marina La Torraca and Anna Brunner - issued a music video for the song "Unfaithful." The Rihanna cover appears on the band's debut "Rhapsodies in Black" coming August 4th via Napalm Records.

"Why a cover of 'Unfaithful'?" The band explains: "Rihanna is one of the major artists in pop music these days, always on the edge of being too much, too provocative, too vulgar, yet with a hint of grace of her own. We like that, but felt that it could use a sharper edge and a darker, no-apologies vibe. The accelerated tempo gives it a new energy and spins us into oblivion with the march of banners held high!"

"Rhapsodies In Black" features a colorful mix of international super hits from Rihanna to Madonna, from Depeche Mode to Adele, and many more! Still and all, it's miles away from being just a cover album.

The track listing for the album is:

1. Question Of Time
2. Unfaithful
3. Incomplete
4. Impossible
5. Frozen
6. Heaven
7. Firework
8. Skyfall
