Vuur Launches City Guessing Contest

Anneke van Giersbergen's Vuur is pleased to announce the release of debut album "In This Moment We Are Free - Cities" on October 20th, 2017 worldwide through InsideOutMusic.

Each track on the new album is named after a city that made an impression on Anneke while touring the world, and to celebrate the release, a contest was just launched where fans can guess each of the locations featured on the album. Head to this location to take part.

Anneke comments: "Often I have a strong feeling for a city where I perform. It can be anything, sometimes I visualize a city as a man or a character, or sometimes something happened in that city that I want to write about. All 11 songs on the album pay tribute to a certain city and with this contest we'd like to give our fans the opportunity to guess which cities will be featured on the album and win some unique items."

The band will also team up with Scar Symmetry for a short co-headline tour in December alongside opening act My Propane. Anneke had this to say: "We're very excited to present our debut album live and hit the road this December. Scar Symmetry and Vuur will each be playing full sets every night. Vuur's setlist consists of mostly new material, but the audience will get to hear some of my previous outings and collaborations as well."

Rabid Bitch Of The North Releasing Album

Traditional metal trio Rabid Bitch Of The North will release "Nothing But a Bitter Taste" this August 18th via Hostile Media.

"'Nothing But a Bitter Taste' has essentially been several years in the making. For the first time in over 10 years of performing live we had to find time to take off, go to our studio, and do this album justice," comments band frontman Joe McDonnell. "This is a concrete slab of that classic British sounding metal. It's something straight off a NWOBHM compilation cassette. A varied spectrum of styles and tempos, and each track has its own story. It is heavy metal with rock n roll, but it is definitely progressive sounding from the previous EP and singles we've released."

The album was recorded by guitarist Gerard Mulholland. "Gerrys production has been a learn as you work approach. Using his skills built up from years of making our demos and singles," Joe adds regarding the recording process. "What we wanted to achieve was a record that captured our unique character, as well sounding like a record that we would listen to. We wanted it to sound like the metal we like, which is anything from the golden era of heavy metal. Maybe a few Judas Priest records were points of reference at times, but the album was never based on one particular sound." More...

Tchornobog Announces Self-Titled Album

Tchornobog bursts into the metal underground with a crushing and sensory-overloading eponymous album. Seven years in the making, “Tchornobog” can be described as a vessel to elaborate the various metaphors of religion, psychological disorder, and auditory hallucinations of the human animal.

“The purpose of the project is to assume the body as an empathetic creature to understand both the Self and the attempts to find meaning in the world,” project mastermind Soroka explains. “Tchornobog is not a worship of the namesake Slavic 'Black God,' but rather a sarcastic evaluation as well as a testament to those with severe illness and a nod to those of a religious related coping mechanism for the fear of death.”

“The Tchornobog entity is a monument of my personal desire to wrestle with my own demons, my Tchornobog,” he concludes. “I believe that everyone has their own Tchornobog that they are constantly wrestling with and have their own ways of coping with it. This is mine.” More...

Shining Finishes Work On 10th Album

Controversial Swedish metal band Shining just completed work on a tenth studio album. The album, titled "X - Varg Utan Flock" ("Wolf without a Pack"), will be released worldwide by Season of Mist.

Regarding the new album, Shining mastermind Niklas Kvarforth comments: "It has been an ordeal of gigantic proportions, but I am pleased to announce that the recording of our tenth album have now come to an end, and I am currently working on the final visual details before this aural nightmare can be sent off to our label and fuck up your lives.

"'X - Varg Utan Flock' is the direct follow up to our fifth album, but, as usual it does contain a few unexpected twists and turns that will send cold shivers down your spines. It was an honour to serve for two decades as the grand puppet-master and bringer of chaos. Let there be blood!"

Shining was also featured as the focal point of a new documentary produced by Art House Films. Titled "Cold Void," the documentary is a personal portrait of Kvarforth, the man behind headlines that have included suicide and self-destruction, addiction, bipolar disorder, passion and schizophrenia. "Cold Void" is set for release in the fall and DVD and VOD. More...
