Pit Stories: An Odd Place To Find Your Vocalist

You might have noticed there wasn't a regularly scheduled Pit Story yesterday... sorry about that folks, but everyone in America was getting drunk all day, and yours truly was no exception.

We're making it up to you with a day late story, this time taken from an Australian stoner metal group that takes classic hard rock and ups it a notch on the heavy scale.

Emmett Young of Melbourne-based outfit Desert Kingdom today shares a tale of when he and the band's vocalist were involved with a different group that was prone to some serious drunken hijinks. Emmet coments:

I remember one time when Ritch and I were playing in another band in Melbourne, I'd gone in to load up on the 3rd level and come back down to find that he had climbed a thin tree out the front (he may have been a tad pissed), but once he'd got 15 foot up, it had bent across the laneway so he was about 10 ft in the air hanging above everyone going inside.

People were giving him drinks and he was trying to scull em upside down. To top it off he may or may not have fallen backwards off a decent sized stage later on that night! Needless to say we both don't play in that band anymore!

Desert Kingdom's self-titled album dropped at the end of 2016 and can be heard in full below or picked up at Bandcammp here. More...

Cradle Of Filth Teases Video, Changes Single Date

Cradle Of Filth has changed the release date for the first single off upcoming 12th album, "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay."

Debut single "Heartbreak And Seance" will now be released on July 11th, and the pre-orders for the album will go live on the same day.

The band also recently shot a music video for "Heartbreak And Séance," which will also come online July 11th. Check out some photos from the shoot below.

Commented Dani Filth: "Working with such an artistic director as Arturs Berzinš was indeed an honour, as the video shoot was very extensively planned, involving a myriad of extras and crew, make-up girls and set builders, a crow, some well-behaved snakes and a considerable amount of snow, candles, water, trees, naked bodies, lamentable mourners, as well as all being submerged in suitably gothic landscapes and vistas.

"And the fact that we traveled to Riga in Latvia to film it was also very unique and interesting. The video itself is fantastic, drawing from the darkly erotic imagery of the album artwork and bringing it to richly technicoloured classical life. We had such a blast shooting it, as the accompanying photos attest to..." More...

Mordenial Premieres "Daylight Is Gone"

Mordenial was formed in early 2000 before recording an initial two track demo titled "From Ashes Risen" back in 2002. It wouldn't be until '08 that Mordenial went from a project to a full band as Fiebig and Kjetil started to write material for the debut album.

Completing the lineup in 2011, Mordenial began recording in the spring of the next year. After various issues retaining a vocalist, Fiebig decided to write the lyrics and took over the front man position. Finally, debut album " Where the Angels Fall" was released in early 2015.

Now, the group's upcoming new album "The Plague" is due to drop on July 31st and features 10 songs revolving around the concept of plagues, from an ancient to a futuristic perspective.

Check out our exclusive premiere of new song "Daylight Is Gone" below, and you can also pre-order the album at Bandcamp here. More info on Mordenial is available via Facebook.

The band comments on this new track: "'Daylight Is Gone' is a song about a great battle in the dark years. The world is corrupted with kings that want to conquer the world. A great war rages for months. Dead bodies fill the shores and the war seems endless. The ones that survive gets terrible diseases spread from all the decomposed dead bodies." More...
