Livid Releasing New Album
One of Prosthetic Records' newest signings - experimental doom band Livid - will release upcoming album "Beneath This Shroud, The Earth Erodes" on July 14th, 2017.
The album will be available on all digital platforms, digipack CD and a limited edition transparent purple LP. Artwork was created by Cryptworm (Bell Witch, Cough) and pre-orders are now online here.
To coincide with the album announcement, today Livid unveils the "Sins of God" track - check it out below. Guitarist/vocalist Cole Benson says:
"'Sins of God' was just a rough idea just a few days before we went into the studio. I was concerned about using it for the album because we hadn't even finished it. We got together at our space to practice and polish up some pieces the day before we went in. We still weren't 100% we were going to use Sins on the album yet. We decided to just take what we had and start playing and see what happened. It all came together so smoothly.
"It still amazes me how easy it is to write music with these guys. Everyone just seems to get it. We went in and recorded it live and couldn't have been happier. Cole went in a few days later and recorded vocals. When I got a copy of the roughs I was floored that after all this time that Cole could still surprise me with his ability. In a matter of a few days, 'Sins of God' went from being an idea to one of my favorite songs we've ever performed." More...

Wolvhammer Enters The Studio
Directly following a North American trek with Shining and Revenge, Wolvhammer has entered New Constellation Studio in Orlando, Florida and is currently immersed in the recording of the band's fourth LP, which will be released later this year.
Issues Wolvhammer's Adam Clemans from the studio, "We just finished a three-week tour across the country with Revenge and Shining. Sharing the stage with those bands was a very visceral and enjoyable experience for us. We have all been supportive of both bands for some time, so we were very pleased to be able to join forces with them for a tour.
"Currently we are in Orlando, Florida recording our fourth LP with Jarrett Pritchard at New Constellation Studio and we couldn't be more stoked. Jarrett is a talented guy who understands our sound and our vision and I truly and firmly believe that this record will be our strongest and most venomous yet. Without giving away too much, the new record has a bit of a throwback vibe to the more punk based sound and roots that originally birthed the band. But we are still expanding our sound and influences simultaneously as we are all very much into goth and deathrock bands." More...
Statue Of Demur Announces "Alien Pacific"
In 2008, out of a deep, dark, poorly lit gromitorium in Calgary, new technical metal band Statue Of Demur was born. Drenched in Jager, Jake Reimer (Vocals/Bass), Richard Zimmer (Vocals/Guitar) and Mitch Fitz (Drums) came together to foster an intricate combination of many metal influences.
Set to release third full-length "Alien Pacific" on June 16th, the trio today premieres new single "Tamaracks," one of that album's ten aggressive tracks centered around themes of conspiracies, alien abductions, and a shadow government.
“We’ve been continuously evolving to further develop the sound for Statue Of Demur and this album is the best representation of us to date. This is going to be our third full-length and we’re grateful to have a chance to record it locally and can’t wait for the chance to release the album on June 16th,” comments drummer Mitch Fitz.

Afterbirth Releasing "The Time Traveler's Dilemma"
New York-based death metal behemoth Afterbirth -- featuring within its ranks members of Helmet, Artificial Brain, and Buckshot Facelift -- will release the brutalizing "The Time Traveler's Dilemma" full-length album via Unique Leader Records this summer.
Among the earliest purveyors of brutal death metal, Afterbirth was forged on Long Island, New York during the Summer of 1993. The following year, the band released the "Psychopathic Embryotomy" studio demo, but due to various issues among its members, Afterbirth disbanded shortly thereafter.
After a near-twenty-year hiatus however, the band reunited in 2012 and began composing new material for an unknowable future and a then as-yet untitled debut. "The Time Traveler's Dilemma" -- set for release on July 28th on CD, digital, and vinyl formats -- was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Joseph Cincotta at Full Force Studios and comes sheathed in the cover art of Kishor Haulenbeek. Descend Into Despair Streaming Full Album
Romania's funeral doom metal ensemble Descend Into Despair just released second studio album, "Synaptic Veil," a 5 track effort of introspective haze that is now streaming in full below.
"Synaptic Veil" was mixed and mastered in London by Daniel Neagoe, known from his work in bands like Eye of Solitude, Clouds or Shape of Despair, and features the special guest appearance of Kostas Panagiotou from Pantheist.
Here's what Daniel had to say about it: "Descend Into Despair have developed immensely since their first albums and having had the chance to work with them on their newest material I've discovered a superb set of songs and I've been captivated since the first chords. One can sense the maturity in those songs, the arrangements are cursive and natural and I cannot but say that this album is extremely inspired.
"There is a lot of space to breathe, alternated with ambiental and aggressive passages which give the album a special feeling. One can definitely tell these musicians have thought the album thoroughly and they've surprised me a lot. It was a real pleasure to mix this album and this has happened in record time. When you like the material you're working with, it eases the workflow" More...

5 Star Grave Signs With Sliptrick Records
Italian melodic death metal act 5 Star Grave signed on with Sliptrick Records for a new album "The Red Room," which is expected to drop on September 26th. More details on the album are expected soon.
In 2008 AD, "Corpse Breed Syndrome" was released presenting a weird and addictive combination of heavy metal, thrash, punk rock and industrial atmospheres, combined with an extreme vocal aggression and catchy melodies. Four years later, "Drugstore Hell" appears, sharpening the songwriting and expanding the soundscapes with an in your face death’n’roll overdose. So guess what these 6 weirdos are up to in 2017 AD? Releasing a new collection of reckless tunes adequately entitled "The Red Room," obviously!
Once again the listener is charged by an hardcore/horror punk-influenced metal assault supported by a wide range of vocals and the usual light-hearted horror inspired imagery directly derived from 80’s metal/shock rock golden days. The 6 pricks from Hell are back in town! More...
