Horseneck Kicks Off Tour

California's post-hardcore/sludge eccentrics Horseneck - featuring within its ranks current and past members of Will Haven and Chelsea Wolfe - just kicked off a short West Coast tour. The Mini-Van Hell Ride commenced in Los Angeles, California and runs through July 1st in Reno, Nevada.

"Horseneck is embarking on an eight-stop Heavy Trip world tour which is contained almost entirely in California," issues the band of their latest excursion. "Booze, blues, and dudes (and a chick) are gonna riff up California (and Nevada). This tour is going to be so loud, you can hear us from the next venue. Come see us at a stop near you, the mini-van might make it."

Persecutory Streaming Full New Album

The Turkish death worshipers from Persecutory today unveil their debut album, "Towards the Ultimate Extinction," in a full SoundCloud stream ahead of the June 30th release date via Godz Ov War Productions.

Jonathan Adams of Heavy Blog Is Heavy describes the album as "the audio equivalent of having your skin peeled from your bones over forty-two grueling and relentlessly crushing minutes."

Upcoming release "Towards the Ultimate Extinction" was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Erkhan Kabakci and Can Gelgec at Jam Session Studios in Istanbul, Turkey. More...

Violet Cold Streams "Lovegaze"

Post-black metal project Violet Cold is now streaming "Lovegaze" - check it out below (stream comes courtesy of Nine Circles).

The track is a blend of shoegaze, black metal, and alternative rock that is highly recommended for fans of Alcest, Deafheaven, and Enigma.

Neurosis Gearing Up For Summer / Winter Tours

Thirty years of anticipation will come to an end this December: South American fans can finally experience the live intensity of heavy music pioneers, Neurosis. For the first time, the band will bring its cathartic live experience to South America, performing three shows in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.

Neurosis' summer tour is also rapidly approaching, beginning with a European venture the first week of July, leading with a set at Roskilde Festival and followed by shows with Wolfbrigade, Author & Punisher, labelmates Dark Budda Rising, and more.

In late July and early August, Neurosis will storm the Eastern U.S. and lower Canada with a week-and-a-half of tour dates alongside Converge and labelmates Amenra. This tour will be followed by participation in Psycho Vegas in Las Vegas, August 18th through 20th. Neurosis will also headline the Days Of Darkness festival in Baltimore, Maryland on October 28th and 29th, the two-day gala also including sets by Manilla Road, Cirith Ungol, Elder, and many more. Sunday Old School: Gorilla Biscuits

As young metal and hardcore fans, we are constantly told to support our local scene. Often, we do so merely out of local pride, as the groups themselves aren't always particularly noteworthy. However, every once in a while, a local scene features many great bands and can become a worldwide phenomenon and leave its mark on music. It happened in Seattle with the grunge bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, in the Bay Area with thrash bands like Metallica, Megadeth and Exodus and hardcore probably wouldn't be what it is without the New York Hardcore scene, which featured some of the genre's best known bands such as Agnostic Front, Sick of it All and today's featured band, Gorilla Biscuits.

Gorilla Biscuits began life in 1987 in Long Island, founded by schoolmates Arthur Smilios and Anthony "Civ" Civarelli. They took their name from a slang term for quaaludes and initially only meant to use it temporarily, needing a name when they played their first show, which was organised for them by the band Token Entry. The moniker stuck and soon the band began recording demos, which were sold at a local dollar store and began printing their own shirts. More...
