Lord Mantis Posts New Song Online

Chicago extreme metal band Lord Mantis will release a new EP titled "NTW" on April 29th via New Density. Today you can also hear a track off the release - check out "SIG Safer" below.

Recorded at Bricktop Recording with engineer Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos, Like Rats) and mastered by Collin Jordan at The Boiler Room (Windhand, YOB, Voivod), the release features searing new songs that build on the music of the group's 2014 LP, "Death Mask" (Profound Lore).

"NTW" marks the recording debut of the new Lord Mantis line-up, which now features vocalist Dylan O'Toole and bassist Will Lindsay -- each formerly of Indian-- and guitarist Scott Shellhamer (also of American Heritage) joining the core of guitarist Andrew Markuszewski and drummer Bill Bumgardner.

"The music delves to and draws from the same place Lord Mantis has always drawn from; taking the most vicious aspects of the beast and shoving that in everyone's face," comments Markuszewski. "The songs can move anywhere. You have moments on this recording that go from fervent aggression to areas more nauseous and grimey. Every time we write new music we're more confident than before with what we're doing. The sound and technique of Lord Mantis is second nature to us, but we're also never afraid to explore new territory with it."

Inherit Disease Streams "Divergence"

"Ephemeral" is the impending new long player from Ventura, California-based technical death metal unit Inherit Disease. In advance of its release April 8th, today you can hear new track "Divergence" below.

The follow-up to 2010's seminal "Visceral Transcendence" was tracked at Seahorse Sound Studios by Samur Khouja (Condemned, Arkaik, Flesh Consumed) and mixed and mastered by Sasha Borovykh (Epicardiectomy, Cerebral Effusion) at Tsun Tsun Productions. The album was once again adorned with the stunningly disturbing cover creation of Yang Guang.

"Religion is the great plague of man," states Inherit Disease collectively of the theme behind this new track. "Science is the cure through utilization of technology. This is a song [guitarist] Derek [DeRoos] wrote most of. He kept rewriting and throwing out parts on this song because they weren't hard enough to play. It took forever to finish. It's all over the place and hard as hell to play!"

Integrity Releasing 20th Anniversary Vinyl

Chicago-based Organized Crime Records has confirmed the impending re-release (as a 20th anniversary vinyl edition) of Integrity's "Humanity Is The Devil," currently being pressed to hit for Record Store Day next month.

Subsequent to the release of "Systems Overload" earlier that year, Integrity would enter Mars Studio on Hallows Eve 1995; the result would be the true culmination of what the band had been working towards both music and thematically. Organized Crime Records is proud to present this groundbreaking record in its ultimate 20th anniversary edition. Eths Streams "Kumari Kandam"

Eths today streams another new track from upcoming album "Ankaa." Check out "Kumari Kandam" in the player below. Regarding the new track, Ethsguitarist Staif Bihl comments:

"I am glad to introduce a third new track from our forthcoming album. The lyrics of 'Kumari Kandam' were written by me with the help of my friend Faustine Berardo (La Nebuleuse D'Hima), who is also singing some parts of this song together with Sarah Layssac of Arkan. Kumari Kandam is a legendary continent that is said to be lying at the bottom of the sea south of the Indian subcontinent. My lyrics deal with human civilizations, and how they have vanished due to force of nature or just of their own doing – as a warning for future generations. Of course, this story also applies to our own civilization, which seems to be working as hard as possible to speed up its own downfall."

The quartet will release "Ankaa" worldwide on April 22nd. The band's new album marks the first full-length with new vocalist and "France has got Talent" sensation Rachel Aspe. The album's track listing is as follows:

1. Nefas
2. Nihil Sine Causa
3. Amaterasu
4. Seditio
5. Nixi Dii
6. Vae Victis
7. HAR1
8. Sekhet Aaru

The Wretched End Comments On New Album

It has been nearly four years since new sounds have emerged from the fiery studio alliance of former Emperor/Zyklon guitarist Samoth, Mindgrinder/Windir member Cosmo, and Dark Funeral drummer Nils Dominator Fjellström. This April, that silence ends with the worldwide release of "In These Woods, From These Mountains."

Boasting a darker foundation than its predecessors, "In These Woods, From These Mountains" was mixed with producer Marius Strand in Norway and mastered at Fascination Street in Sweden.

“Dead Icons” opens the album with fervent drumming and the signature buzz of Samoth’s celebrated six-strings. Harrowing vocals cater to the songs blasting and calculated cadence. Old friend Attila Csihar (Mayhem, Tormentor) lends hand on “Old Norwegian Soul,” while Leprous vocalist/keyboardist Einar Solberg and Red Harvest’s LRZ contribute on the band’s unexpected adaptation of Bel Canto’s “Dewy Fields” for the album’s epic closer.

During the creation process of the album, Samoth and Cosmo made a conscious decision to strive for a more organic and spontaneous sound. Samoth notes, “We went into this recording with a do-it-yourself attitude. We recorded everything ourselves in different locations and set-ups. We really wanted to capture our raw energy. It really was a principle focus for us.” More...

Alaric Streaming "Angel"

The Oakland-based dark punk alchemists Alaric will undrape their new full-length, "End Of Mirrors," this coming May 6th on CD, vinyl, and digitally via Neurot Recordings, and on cassette via Sentient Ruin.

Oppressive, gloomy, and epically grandiose, each of the seven hymns comprising the offering provides an emotional journey through inky, blackened sonic murk, devoid of all hope. In advance of its release, today closing hymn "Angel" comes online!

"'Angel' is the last song we wrote for the album and the first to be revealed," reveals vocalist Shane Baker of the track. "The bass and drums push and pull in a waltz while a melodic lead guitar threads through. The narrative seems a story of a romance that is doomed when the narrator goes off to war. The endless eternal war. There was Eden and then there was the death of innocence. It relates to all falls from grace, which is just change. There is Lucifer and his angels falling from heaven, disappointed and heartbroken with their God as they vow to create a new world for themselves in Hell. And then there is hope." More...

Avulsed Recording Double Album

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Avulsed, the band decided to commit a very ambitious project - recording a double album including 18 of the best songs from all previous albums, EP's and demos.

Instead of just doing a dull compilation, the band wants to do a "no fillers, just killers" release showing the evolution that the songs have gone through during all these years.

This album (80 minutes in length) will be released in a deluxe double CD digipack with slipcase and a thick 40 page booklet containing the original versions on disc #2 (just for the freaks who hate re-recordings). Double gatefold 12" LP and a double cassette with slipcase will also be released.

But to make this release even more interesting, Avulsed will have very special guests from other bands singing in most of the songs. The lineup includes Peter (Vader), Barney (Napalam Death), Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates), Sven (Aborted), Antti Boman (Demilich), Chris Reifert (Autopsy), Per Böder (God Macabre), Anton Reisenegger (Pentagram), Kam Lee (ex-Massacre), Rogga Johansson (Paganizer), Mike Van Mastrigt (ex-Sinister), Ville Koskela (Purtenance), Will Rahmer (Mortician), Ludo (Supuration), Johan Jansson (Interment) & last but not least, Paul Zavaleta (Deteriorot).

The recording sessions for "Deathgeneration" will start tomorrow (March 24th) with drums being recorded at Cadillac Blood Studios with Andy C. on production. The rest of the recording will take place at La Casa del Ruido Studios with Daniel Blanco engineering for a later mixing at Overhead Studios by Raul Fournier "Furni" and final mastering again at Unisound Studios by Swedish mastermind Dan Swanö.

Remember about a year ago when Coheed And Cambria decided to turn the now-deceased Justice Scalia's dissenting opinions on gay marriage into a song?

The boys are at it again, this time singing Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell's obstructionist comments about not considering the replacement for Scalia's empty supreme court seat.

Somehow, it turns into a folksy tune that actually works (although it sounds like every other song). Have fun with the latest in political shenanigans below, courtesy of Funny Or Die. More...

In Mourning Releases Lyric Video For New Track

After having revealed details surrounding the new album "Afterglow," Swedish melodic death/doom metal act In Mourning has unleashed the first new song fromthe record. Entitled "Below Rise To The Above," the lyric video for the track can be viewed in the player below.

"Afterglow" will be released on May 20th worldwide via Agonia Records. The cover artwork was made by Kristian Wåhlin (Bathory, Tiamat, King Diamond). This will be the first album featuring new drummer, Daniel Liljekvist (ex-Katatonia).

In Mourning: "The new album is called 'Afterglow' and its story takes off from where 'The Weight Of Oceans' ends. It’s a bit more complex than our previous albums and it has got a bit of a different sound than the older ones, a bit more alive like a band and maybe not always as studio corrected as our earlier material. However, the foundation of the music is still what we’ve always done and the key elements are pretty much the same but with some new additions and a few new twists and turns of course".

Hailed by many as the heir to Opeth's melodeath throne, In Mourning was formed in the Swedish woods in the year 2000. Since then the band has evolved over the years striving to refine its sound to what it is today. April 2012 marked the release of the bands third and latest album "The Weight Of Oceans", a mythology inspired conceptual story that journeys to the sea. Musically, the group blends a broad spectrum of influences into a foundation of melodic death metal. Thrusting from doomy metal-riffs, blasting drumbeats and deep growling vocals to calm breezes of clean flowing melodies and harmonies.

"Afterglow" has been recorded between November 2015 and March 2016 in Nordin Music Studios (drums) and Libra Studios (guitar, bass and vocals). Mixing and mastering duties have been handeled by Jonas Martinsson in Necrosavant Studio.

The track list is:

1. Fire And Ocean
2. The Grinning Mist
3. Ashen Crown
4. Below Rise To The Above
5. The Lighthouse Keeper
6. The Call To Orion
7. Afterglow

Withem Unveils "The Unforgiving Road"

Norwegian progressive metal act Withem revealed details of the long awaited sophomore release "The Unforgiving Road." The album drops via Frontiers Records srl on June 3rd.

The new album sees the band perfecting the style of gripping, melody-driven songs avoid the clichés and pitfalls of overly dramatic instrumental sections and sheer senseless complexity and instead center on creative interplay between the musicians, while the unique vocal range of Ole Aleksander Wagenius gives the band a distinctive touch. Just like the debut album ("The Point of You"), "The Unforgiving Road" was produced and mixed by guitarist Øyvind Voldmo Larsen at his own Lionheart Studio, boasting powerful and bombastic production values with plenty of moments for the listener to notice the most subtle intricate parts of the songs.

"'The Unforgiving Road' is the culmination of almost a year worth of composing, recording and producing. We didn't want to rush things after the first album, to avoid the usual pitfalls of "sophomore albums," says guitarist/producer Oyvind Larsen. "The challenges we encountered while writing and recording can only be matched with how rewarding it feels after everything is set and done!"

"Øyvind once again took the helm for most of the composition and the whole scope of recording, mixing and producing, and we can't wait to hear everyone's reactions after they listen to the end result," adds new bassist Miguel Pereira. "We are looking forward to start promoting 'The Unforgiving Road' with live shows right after the album is out, and meet all our friends and fans throughout the world."

The track listing for "The Unforgiving Road" is as follows:

1. …Intro
2. Exit
3. In The Hands Of A God
4. The Pain I Collected
5. Riven
6. C'est La Vie
7. The Eye In The Sky

Imperium Unveils "Titanomachy" Details

Following the release of the acclaimed debut "Sacramentum" in 2012 (which featured Trigger the Bloodshed and The Bridal Procession members Robert Purnell and Steve Garnier), U.K. technical brutal death metal act Imperium have reshuffled the ranks and bounced back by unveiling a brand new masterclass in technical death metal entitled "Titanomachy." The album drops via Ultimate Massacre Productions on May 7th 2016. A preview clip can be heard in the player below.

"Titanomachy" features twelve tracks of ferocious yet epic metal, steeped in ancient Greek mythology and lore. Experience bleak tales of betrayal, brutality, destructive monsters and war between the Gods and Titans themselves. "Titanomachy" is huge in both lyrical scale and musical depth.

Founding member and chief songwriter Mike Alexander had been working alone until he enlisted Doug Anderson, drummer of Unfathomable Ruination and ex-Bloodshot Dawn, however Doug was not brought in for his skill behind the kit, but rather his voice.

"When I first heard the Imperium material I was really impressed, and the opportunity to work on something like this was an immediate attraction to me," comments Doug. "The album feels huge. Epic! Whilst maintaining a constant level of brutality, and technicality. Mike's guitar playing is astonishing, but it isn't just an album of show boating, There are real memorable songs here, and a heavy signature sound too." More...
