Former Budgie Guitarist Passes Away
Former Budgie guitarist John Thomas has passed away at the age of sixty three according to his ex bandmate, Steve Williams. No cause of death has been revealed as of yet except that he died last night. Steve Williams paid tribute to the fallen guitarist by stating:
"My friend and fellow Budgie band member John Thomas sadly passed away last night. My thoughts are with the loved ones he left behind."
Thomas had suffered from health issues in the past, including a stroke which led to him leaving Budgie, whom he first joined in 1979. He recorded three albums with the group, "Power Supply," "Nightflight" and "Deliver Us From Evil," and stayed with the band until they broke up in 1998, as well as taking part in reunions in 1995 - 1996 and then again from 1999 - 2002. Kadavar Releasing Year-Long Visual Album
After excessively touring with latest album "Berlin" in 2015, Kadavar has cooked up a new and exciting project for 2016.
Together with long-time friend and collaborator Nathini van der Meer, Kadavar is working on the band's first "visual album" - 12 short films accompanying each of the album's songs, to be released once a month throughout the entirety of the year. Nuclear Blast comments:
"Lupus Lindemann wrote the song 'Pale Blue Eyes' when Kadavar visited the Salton Sea on their first trip through the United States, playing the stage of the infamous 'Range' at the Slab City Prom 2013. Slab City or 'The Slabs' is a snowbird campsite in the Californian Sonora Desert 156 miles northeast of San Diego, where RV-people, outlaws and squatters from across North America formed a wild and lawless 'city' from debris around the famous and colorful Salvation Mountain build by Leonard Knight in the 1980s.
"There are no rules in the slabs (besides 'don't be an asshole') and during one of those memorable Slab City nights, the Kadavar guys found themselves dancing around the fire alongside this wild desert bunch, dressed in discarded ball-gowns, and watching the sunrise from atop the salvation mountain. This song, an ode about 'a mysterious lady with pale blue eyes,' is actually about cross-dressing drummer Tiger in his purple dress, looking so fine..
"For the first video release of this visual album, Nathini van der Meer traveled back into the desert to find a real Slab City original - Mopard the Wizard of East Jesus - whom she followed on one of his walks through the desert. The video for 'Pale Blue Eyes' is set to be released next week!" More...

Sindrome Releases "Resurrection"
It's finally out: Sindrome's "Resurrection - The Complete Collection" is available now via Century Media. This retrospective collection is available as a ltd. 2CD Digipak (with 36-page booklet), LP (+ bonus live CD and 16-page LP-booklet) as well as digital download.
It includes Sindrome's two demo recordings "Into The Halls Of Extermination" (plus the unreleased track "Brought To The End") and "Vault Of Inner Conscience" as well as a raw live recording from 1988 with the two bonus tracks "Surround The Prisoner" and "Psychic Warfare" that have never been recorded in a studio.
Both physical versions come with an extensive interview by Laurent Ramadier (Snakepit Magazine) with Sindrome's vocalist Troy Dixler, an introduction by Metallion (editor of Slayer Magazine), all lyrics and a load of photos, flyers and additional artwork.
Jed Simon (Strapping Young Lad / Armoros / Scar The Martyr) comments: "Sindrome! Those were the good days, man. I still have my 'Halls' demo ... and right away I think of the title song ... killer intro, and I can't help but wonder if young Morbid Angel were listening to this, too. Way ahead of its time and still ripping! The other song I love is Precognition, just a perfect blend of thrash and death....way before death was a thing. Sindrome! Horns way up high!"
Tony Portaro (Whiplash) adds: "Whiplash had a string of shows with Sindrome in the late eighties. One of the songs in their set was "Cathedral of Ice". I'll never forget the insane effects on Troy's vocal. The soundman had a killer echo effect and he must have pumped the volume, because the hall would shake during every chorus." More...

Vardis Reveals "Red Eye" Details
Vardis was forged out of glam, punk, heavy metal, blues and rock 'n' roll in the crucible of 1970s northern England. In March 2014, Steve Zodiac began remastering the "Vigilante" album, and to coincide with the re-release on Hoplite Records, Vardis reunited to headline Brofest II in England, going on to perform at festivals in the U.K. and Germany before an emotional homecoming show at Unity Hall, Wakefield, where it all began.
After the warm reception of fans at the reunion shows, Zodiac and bassist Terry Horbury not only felt at the top of their game, but that they had more gears to hit, and so decided to continue. Recruiting the dynamic powerhouse drummer Joe Clancy, who had spent the previous ten years in Iron Maiden's Adrian Smith's side project Blues Band, Vardis set to work on the first new material in nearly 30 years.
Founder Steve Zodiac comments: "Reuniting after a 30 year hiatus was a leap in the dark, but the response has been tremendous. Terry, Joe and I have hit upon a creative chemistry that makes me as excited to be recording the 5th Vardis album today as I was cutting our first demos in '76."
The cover art for "Red Eye" was painted by acclaimed artist Graham Humphreys, who has previously produced artwork for Hammer Studios and posters for Nightmare on Elm Street, Basket Case and The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II.
After the tragic death of bass player Terry Horbury last year, the band recruited Martin Connolly (ex- Rick Wakeman, Paul Fox, Entire Population of Hackney) and played a first successful show with the new line up at this years' Up The Hammers Festival in Greece. More...

The Faceless Reportedly Drops Off Tour
Second Update: The Faceless has now issued a statement about the cancellation, available below, and followed by the original article.
The Faceless released this announcement via Facebook: "The Faceless has encountered a very unfortunate situation. We have decided to be 100% honest about what has happened. It would be easy for us to come up with a false excuse to cover up the truth, which is something that people have unfortunately become accustomed to when a band cancels a tour. However, we feel like we owe it to our fans to be honest.
"Two days ago, we were supposed to leave for our tour with August Burns Red and Between The Buried And Me. The day before we were supposed to leave, our fill in vocalist backed out, and told us that he would not be performing with The Faceless on this tour. His other, full time band did not feel comfortable with him touring in another group, and he wanted to respect their wishes.
"With this happening on such extremely short notice, it has left us with our hands tied. We have absolutely no choice but to regretfully drop off of our tour with August Burns Red, Between The Buried And Me, and Good Tiger, as well as our headlining tour with Scale The Summit, Rivers of Nihil, and Native Construct. This is a huge disappointment to us, as we were eagerly looking forward to touring with all of these amazing bands. We ask anyone that was planning on attending the BTBAM/ABR tour to still attend. Ministry mainman Al Jourgensen's new project Surgical Meth Machine recently inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Records for a self-titled debut album release.

Salem Releasing "Dark Days"
The release date of the new Salem album "Dark Days" is now set for April 29th, 2016 via Pure Steel Records. The label comments:
"Founded 1979 in Hull -out of the ashes of Ethel The Frog - Salem has played numerous festivals like Brofest, Play it Loud, Very Eavy, Headbangers Open Air, Rock You to Hell, BÄÄÄM, etc, and gigs across Europe and even in Dubai, since they reformed in 2010 after a long silence.
"'Dark Days' is their third album following the 2010 'In The Beginning…' compilation of 80s tracks and 'Forgotten Dreams' in 2013 (both released by Pure Steel). The new album, with powerful songs and majestic melody lines, reveals a wide musical range with hints of Rainbow, Thin Lizzy, and UFO. 'Not Guilty' and 'Lost My Mind' are perfect examples of this.
"Heavier songs include 'Tormented' and 'Second Sight' and they daringly include the likes of 'Toy Story,' but all songs will delight you with fine guitar playing and the outstanding vocals from Simon Saxby. The eight minute long epic 'Nine Months' is a highlight composition that many bands would only dream about in their whole time of existence but never will be able to write. So try Salem if you haven't already done so!" More...

Child Bite Streaming "Born A Hog"
Child Bite's "Negative Noise" full-length will see release next month via Housecore Records, and today new track "Born A Hog" is spewed forth.
"'Born A Hog" is about how much it would suck to be born a hog," considers vocalist Shawn Knight. "I eat my fair share of bacon, but I can't help keeping in mind where it comes from. Interesting how we choose certain animals to eat and others to pamper. I've got two pet dogs, but I also eat bacon. Kinda fucked up when you think about it. Thinking too much about anything can ruin the experience, but I believe that the least I can do for that pig is to make myself feel a little guilty while I'm eating him. We were stoked to get a real pig on the track too; you can hear sweet Lucy squealing at the very end of the song."
The perpetually road-bound noise rock misfits will also play shows next month opening for the mighty Voivod alongside labelmates King Parrot with additional onstage debauchery to be announced in the coming weeks.

The album's long and tortured state of evolution took its toll equally on the band and its namesake, leading Mortiis to so much as state that the record killed the band. "As important as is it to myself and who I have become, I haven't been able to think about it in any way other than 'I need to just get this thing out of my life and behind me before I lose my mind,'" he said.
