Monuments Performing Tour Without Vocalist

Monuments has issued the following statement about performing as an instrumental unit on upcoming tour dates:

"Due to some very serious personal issues, our man Chris will not be making it out with us on The Contortionist tour. He needs some time to get these issues taken care of - and we respect that and want to give him the time to get his head straight.

"We will be moving forward with the tour anyways and will be doing it INSTRUMENTAL! Something we've had to do a few times already - so we are confident that we will smash it and make you all proud. To make it a little more awesome for our friends out there, and to make up for the lack of vocals, we will play some lesser performed tracks from 'Gnosis/The Amanuensis\ albums, AND we will also be playing TWO new tracks from album #3...

"Unfortunately in order to do this right we need to rehearse some more - so sadly we will miss our shows at South By South Death tonight and Corpus Christi on the 18th, but we will be playing So What Music Festival and then smashing it with The Contortionist, Entheos, and sleepmakeswaves across North America until May ... see you on the road!" Boudain Releasing "Way Of The Hoof"

Boudain's "Way of the Hoof" is a storm of space, pork, and riffs! Recorded at SpaceLab 420 studios, the follow-up to the band's 2013 EP is perfect for anyone who enjoys the kind of groove that makes you want to smoke out, grill out, and chill with the swine.

Boudin is a Cajun sausage dish that is most frequently rolled into a ball, battered, and deep-fried. Coincidentally, Boudain is also one of the heaviest bands you're bound to find North of Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana, a state known for both its crispy, fried pig fat, as well as its crispy, fried, pig-fat-soaked stoner metal bands.

Brian Lenard (guitars): "Ya can't fit any more meat in the record. For real, we tried and there ain't no room."

Chris Porter (bass/vocals): "This album far exceeds our expectations and we're ready to get it out there." More...

Gomorrah Changes Name To Lucis Absentia

Static Tension Recordings is pleased to announce that the label will release "To the Depths," the debut EP by Ohio's Lucis Absentia.

The band was previously known as Gomorrah and originally released "To the Depths" independently in 2014. The album is a blistering tour-de-force of old-school thrash with a hint of modern metal.

The group commented on the name change: "Lucis Absentia is a name we came up with sort of out of the blue. It means 'Absence of Light' in Latin which we felt coupled well with the music. It's a dark name with a bit of mystique that hopefully draws some people in."

Static Tension Recordings owner Kyle Stevens also commented about the signing: "I’m beyond excited to be adding Lucis Absentia to the Static Tension Recordings family. These Ohio death merchants are set to decimate everything in their path. Nay sayers beware…."

"To the Depths" will be released on June 10th, 2016 and is up for pre-order at this location. More...

Slayer Releases New Music Video

In Slayer's song "You Against You," vocalist Tom Araya screams "Your perfect world is ending this day, So what? I wouldn't have it any other way." And so, from the very first frame of the band's "You Against You" music video, the gore, the violence, the projectile-blood-spewing and the carnage begins and just never ends.

"You Against You" is the prequel to "Repentless," Slayer's brutal 2015 video filmed at an L.A. prison that has logged nearly 7.5 million YouTube views.

Like "Repentless," "You Against You" was directed by BJ McDonnell, stars Jason Trost ("Hatchet III") as Wyatt (the eyepatched rebel inmate) and tells the story of the circumstances that led to Wyatt's erroneous arrest and imprisonment.

Slayer's performance of "You Against You" was shot deep in the heart of California's Mojave desert earlier this year in a graveyard of jets, airliners, and helicopters.

"After the 'Repentless' video," said Slayer's Tom Araya, "BJ delivers with 'You Against You.' Fucking awesome!!!!!"

Slayer is currently in the final weeks of a winter 2016 North American tour with Testament and Carcass supporting. Remaining dates are below.

Guitarist / vocalist Michael Chavez comments on this new track: "'Forgotten Faces' was the first song written for the album and the music was written by Michael Rohwer. We arranged the song as a band and I wrote the lyrics. The words were inspired by my personal feelings about classism in the United States, and my own personal encounters with the issue. It's our most musically technical song to date and is the first song we all wrote together." More...

Suns of Thyme Signs To Napalm Records

It is hard to imagine that something called Krautgaze could grow up in any other place than Berlin. In its glittering darkness, the city is a perfect breeding ground for a band like Suns of Thyme.

It is definitely no coincidence that Napalm Records, home of bands like Monster Magnet, God Is An Astronaut, My Sleeping Karma and Desert Rock legend John Garcia, has already been keeping an eye on this band & is now extremely pleased to announce the worldwide signing of Suns of Thyme.

Suns of Thyme on signing to Napalm Records: "From the day we finished our first record until the now upcoming release of the second one we have been on a journey of individual and collective progress: Becoming a five-piece band and with everybody involved in the song writing process, we had to find new ways to communicate and make music together. In all the excitement and struggle that comes with this we have grown a lot, each one personally as well as a band in whole. While this journey is far from over yet, 'Cascades' is gonna reflect our current state in every aspect: in the lyrics as well as in arrangement and sound. With Napalm Records and especially our A&R Billie Klein we are glad to have found people who understand us, our progress and our way of making music and who gave us the opportunity to put out this record the way we wanted it to come out."
